Extraction of Primary Factors Influencing Dam Operation Using Factor Analysis (요인분석 통계기법을 이용한 댐 운영에 대한 영향 요인 추출)

  • Factor analysis has been usually employed in reducing quantity of data and summarizing information on a system or phenomenon. In this analysis methodology, variables are grouped into several factors by consideration of statistic characteristics, and the results are used for dropping variables which have lower weight than others. In this study, factor analysis was applied for extracting primary factors influencing multi-dam system operation in the Han River basin, where there are two multi-purpose dams such as Soyanggang Dam and Chungju Dam, and water has been supplied by integrating two dams in water use season. In order to fulfill factor analysis, first the variables related to two dams operation were gathered and divided into five groups (Soyanggang Dam: inflow, hydropower product, storage management, storage, and operation results of the past; Chungju Dam: inflow, hydropower product, water demand, storage, and operation results of the past). And then, considering statistic properties, in the gathered variables, some variables were chosen and grouped into five factors; hydrological condition, dam operation of the past, dam operation at normal season, water demand, and downstream dam operation. In order to check the appropriateness and applicability of factors, a multiple regression equation was newly constructed using factors as description variables, and those factors were compared with terms of objective function used in operation water resources optimally in a river basin. Reviewing the results through two check processes, it was revealed that the suggested approach provided satisfactory results. And, it was expected for extracted primary factors to be useful for making dam operation schedule considering the future situation and previous results.

Assessment of Regional-Based Nitrogen Loading and Recycling Capacity of Livestock Manure (지역별 가축분뇨의 질소부하 및 자원화 용량 평가)

  • Reusing livestock manure have various advantages in securing soil organic resources. In this study, the N-loading and recycling capacity assessment of animal manure was analyzed by comparing between the cultivated areas of crops and the amount of manure units that are generated from livestock manure. From this assessment, the possibility of recycling resources of livestock manure was evaluated. The amount generated of livestock manure in Gyeonggi-do were evaluated by applying the manure units to the number of livestock manure. The analysis of manure unit per ha shows that the N loading by MU is quite different by region. When it comes to nitrogen loading, the MU per ha of cultivated land in excess of the N-amount was the highest in the Gyeonggi-do province with 2.70 MU/ha, which is higher than the appropriate level. The Chungcheongnam-do province came next with 2.31 MU. So the recycling capacity assessment was carried out mainly based on areas of forage crops, rice that can be provided by recycling livestock manure. The recycling capacity ware highest in Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do. In order to properly apply the livestock manure into organic resources, the seasonal situation that effects the nitrogen demands of crops along with the regional effects crop cultivation should be seriously analyzed. In addition, a system that can effectively produce and manage fertilizer should be established.

  • This article is written to make a foundation for effective radio network engineering by enabling the accurate traffic assumption between Base Station (BTS : Base Station Transceiver Subsystem) md Repeater through the scientific and systematic analysis of mobile traffic dealt within CDMA Base Station. Among these, Repeater, having direct physical connection with BTS, simply does the remote relay function but the volume of the traffic flowed into the repeater is not accountable. The total BTS traffic is the sum of traffic dealt by the BTS and multiple Repeaters. In this article, we tried traffic analysis of this kind by adopting RTD (Round Trip Delay) which is specially designed to measure distribution of the distance between the Base Station and the Mobile station by differentiating the traffic dealt by BTS from traffic dealt by Repeaters. The fact that the connection between mobile station and BTS via Repeater (which is located remotely) yields far more delay than the direct connection between mobile station and BTS is the clue of this article. Based on this fact, Time Delay equipment was put at the receiving side of the Repeater to add certain amount of delay to the traffic to BTS and the result showed that the 99.78% of the traffic can be identified.

Two-Dimension Hydraulic Analysis in the Andong-Imha Linked Reservoir System (안동-임하호 연결 시스템의 2차원 수리해석)

  • 국내에서 새로운 댐 저수지 건설을 통한 수자원의 안정적인 확보는 어려운 여건에 있다. 따라서 수자원의 효율적인 확보, 댐 하류하천의 수질 개선, 신규댐 건설 대체 효과를 기대하기 위해 기존 댐 저수지의 연계운영이 중요하게 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다수의 댐 저수지 수체를 연계하여 모델을 통해 해석하고자 안동-임하호를 연결한 2차원 모델(CE-QUAL-W2)을 구축하고, 2002년과 2006년 수문사상을 재현하였으며, 수리해석을 실시하였다. 안동호의 좌안인 임동면 마리와 임하호의 우안인 망천리를 연결하고, EL. 140 m 위치에 길이 2 km, 직경 5.5 m로 콘크리트 터널을 연결하는 것으로 가정하였다. 관내 바닥 마찰계수와 미소 마찰손실 값은 0.05를 입력하였다. 저수지 실측수위와 모의수위를 시계열로 비교한 결과, 2002년과 2006년 안동호와 임하호에서 여름철 유입량 증가에 따른 수위 상승을 잘 반영하였고, 결정계수값($R^2$)이 모두 0.9953 이상으로 나타나 모델은 두 저수지 물수지 계산에 있어서 높은 신뢰도를 보였다. 2006년을 대상으로 안동호와 임하호의 댐 앞에서 수심별 수온의 실측값과 모의값을 비교한 결과, 안동호는 4월부터 성층이 진행되어 5월에 수온약층이 EL. 130 m에 형성되었다. 7월 홍수가 중층 밀도류를 형성하여 수온 성층구조를 교란하였고, 기존의 수온약층이 EL. 120 m 로 하강하였으며, 표층 EL. 145 m에 새로운 수온약층이 형성되는 2단 성층 구조를 보였다. 여름철 동안 이러한 현상은 지속되었고, 10월부터 대기기온 강하와 함께 수직혼합이 시작되었다. 수온예측 오차는 AME $0.336{\sim}1.806^{\circ}C$, RMSE $0.415{\sim}2.271^{\circ}C$의 범위로 실측값을 잘 반영하는 것으로 나타났다. 임하호도 안동호와 유사한 경향을 보였고, 모델은 두 저수지에서 전 기간에 걸쳐 모두 안정적으로 저수지 수온 성층현상을 모의하였다. 2002년 수문사상에서 안동-임하 연계 운영시 안동호의 평균 수위는 1.38 m 상승하였고, 임하호는 3.75 m 낮아지는 것으로 모의되었다. 수위변동에 따른 유동 유량은 임하호에서 안동호로 3억 6천 4백만 톤, 안동호에서 임하호로 2억 9천 1백만 톤으로 임하호에서 안동호로 유동한 유량이 높게 나타났다. 유역면적에 비해 저수용량이 작은 임하호의 경우 두 저수지간 유량의 이동에 따라서 저수용량의 증가로 인한 홍수 저감 효과가 있을 것으로 판단된다. 반면, 안동-임하 연계 운영시 임하호의 차가운 물이 안동호로 유입되는 경우, 안동호의 수온 성층구조에 영향을 주었다. 안동호의 경우는 단독운영시보다 높은 위치에 수온약층(EL. 140 m)이 형성되었으며, 임하호는 반대로 저수위가 낮아지면서 단독운영시보다 수온약층의 위치가 약간 낮아졌다. 이러한 결과는 두 저수지 연결시 안동호의 탁수와 수질 환경에 변화가 있을 수 있음을 시사한다.

Combined Inland-River Operation Technique for Reducing Inundation in Urban Area: The Case of Mokgam Drainage Watershed (도시지역의 침수저감을 위한 내외수 연계 운영 기법 개발: 목감천 유역을 중심으로)

  • Urban areas can often suffer flood damage because of the more frequent catastrophic rainfall events from climate change. Flood mitigation measures consist of (1) structural and (2) non-structural measures. In this study, the proposed method focused on operating an urban drainage system among non-structural measures. The combined inland-river operation technique estimates the inflow of pump stations based on the water level obtained from a preselected monitoring point, and the pump station expels the stored rainwater to the riverside based on those estimates. In this study, the proposed method was applied to the Mokgam drainage watershed, where catastrophic rainfall events occurred (i.e., 2010- and 2011-years), and severe flood damage was recorded in Seoul. Using the proposed method, the efficiency of flood reduction from the two rainfall events was reduced by 34.9 % and 54.4 %, respectively, compared to the current operation method. Thus, the proposed method can minimize the flood damage in the Mokgam drainage watershed by reserving the additional storage space of a reservoir. In addition, flooding from catastrophic rainfall can be prevented, and citizens' lives and property in urban areas can be protected.

Predictions of the Cooling Performance on an Air-Cooled EV Battery System According to the Air Flow Passage Shape (공기 유로 형상에 따른 공랭식 전기자동차 배터리 시스템의 냉각 성능 예측)

  • This paper aims to compare and study the cooling performance of a battery system in accordance with the inlet and outlet geometry of the air passage in an EV. The arrangement and the heat source of the battery module were fixed, and the inlet/outlet area and its geometry were varied with the analysis of the cooling performance. The results of this study provide suggestions for the air flow stream line inside of a battery, the velocity field, and the temperature distributions. It was confirmed that the volume flow rate of air should be over $400m^3/h$, in order to satisfy conditions under $50^{\circ}C$, which is the limit condition for stable operation. It was also revealed that the diffuser outlet geometry can improve the cooling performance of battery system.

Influences of Cash Flows from Operating Activities on Debt Repayment Capability in General Hospitals and Hospitals (병원 영업활동으로 인한 현금흐름이 부채상환능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The medical institution considers liability management problems as a direct factor in managerial risks, such as bankruptcy. Cash Flow provides useful information to necessary funds and predicting bankruptcy. The study for 24 general hospitals and 23 hospitals, a regression analysis was performed to determine the impact of cash flows on the debt repayment capability, a multivariate discrimination analysis was conducted to find out how to manage cash flow for the risk posed by debt. The analysis results, For general hospitals, the level of debt repayment capability was done to net income, increase of payables from operating activities and decrease of patient receivables and inventories from operating activities. If there is no dept repayment capability, it is necessary to increase the net income, increase the expenses not involving cash outflows, decrease of patient receivables and increase of payables from operating activities. For hospitals, the level of debt repayment capability was done to net income, increase of expenses not involving cash outflows and payables from operating activities, decrease of income not involving cash inflows, decrease of patient receivables and inventories from operating activities. If there is no dept repayment capability, it is necessary to increase of payables from operating activities.

Numerical Investigation of Smoke Behavior in Rescue Station for Tunnel Fire (철도터널 화재 시 구난역 내의 연기거동에 대한 수치해석 연구)

  • The present study deals with numerical investigation for smoke behavior in rescue station by using the commercial CFD code (FLUENT Ver 6.3). With the use of the MVHS(Modify Volumetric Heat Source) model modified from the original VHS(Volumetric Heat Source) model, a 10 MW mode was adopted for simulation and the MVHS model can describe the generation of product and the oxygen consumption at the stoichiometric state. In addition, the present simulation includes the species conservation equations for the materialization of heat source and the estimation of smoke movement. From the results, the smoke flows are moving along the ceiling because of thermal buoyancy force and as time goes, the smoke gradually moves downward at the vicinity of the entrance. Moreover, without using ventilation, it is found that the smoke flows no longer spread across the cross-passages because the pressure in the non-accident tunnel is higher than that in the accident tunnel.

Prediction of Solute Transport in Natural River Using RAM4 (RAM4모형을 이용한 자연하천에서의 확산거동 예측)

  • 현재까지 우리나라에서 주로 사용되고 있는 2차원 흐름 해석 모형은 미연방 도로국(U.S. Federal Highway Administration)과 연계하여 Brigham Young University에서 개발된 SMS(Surface-Water Modeling System)모형이다. SMS모형 중 이송 확산 모형으로는 RMA-4가 포함되나 이 모형은 최신 수치기법을 반영하지 못하는 등의 문제점들로 인해 실제 물리적 현상을 모의에 있어서 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 물리적 현상에 대한 적절한 모의를 위해 여러 개선과정을 거쳐 RAM4가 개발되었다. 본 연구를 위해 점적분 유사량 측정기(P-61)와 대하천 유속계를 사용하여 대상구간의 SS자료 및 유속의 2차원적 분포를 취득하였고, SMS의 Pre-processing 기능을 이용하여 유한요소망을 구성하였다. 구성된 유한요소망과 흐름모형인 RMA-2를 사용하여 대상구간의 유속장을 모의하였다. 이때 모의된 유속장과 현장에서 취득한 유속분포를 비교하여 RMA-2를 검증하였고, SS자료와 RAM4로 모의된 농도장을 비교하여 RAM4를 검증하였다. 검증된 두 모형을 바탕으로 대상 구간에서 다량의 점오염원이 투입되는 가상의 시나리오를 선정 및 적용하여 오염물 이송 및 확산 거동에 대해 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 대상 하천은 형산강으로써, 유역 내에 경주시와 포항시가 위치하고 이 두 도시를 잇는 산업도로가 형산강 본류 위를 지나고, 또한 두 도시를 관류하고 있어 다른 국가하천과 마찬가지로 지속적이고 안정적인 수질관리가 필요한 하천이다, 모의구간은 형산강 본류 중 No. 68(안강 수위관측소 상류 약 350 m)에서 No. 48(부조 수위관측소 하류 약 200 m)까지로서, 약 4.3 km 구간을 모의 하였다. 모의구간 시점에서 약 0.35 km 지점에 산업도로의 일부분인 강동대교, 0.98 km 지점에 왕신천 유입, 1.35 km 지점에 수중보, 1.8 km 지점에 국당1교, 3.2 km 지점에 국당2교가 위치하며 구간 내에는 만곡 및 사행, 특히 수중보 전 후로 사주가 발달해있어 2차원 흐름 및 이송확산 모의에 적합하다고 판단되었다.

An Experimental Guide to Predictable Fuel Cell Operations by Controlling External Gas Supply (외부 유입 가스 조절을 통한 연료전지 구동 성능 안정화)

  • Fuel cell is one of the promising electrochemical technologies enabling power production with various fuel sources such as hydrogen, hydrocarbon and even solid carbon. However, its long-term performance is often unstable and unpredictable. In this work, we observed that gasification-driven hydrocarbons were the culprit of unpredictability. Therefore, we controlled the presence of hydrocarbons with the help of external gas supply, i.e. argon and carbon dioxide, and suggested the optimal amount of carbon dioxide required for predictable fuel cell operations. Our optimization strategy was based upon the following observations; carbon dioxide can work as both an inert gas and a fuel precursor, depending on its amount present in the reactor. When deficient, the carbon dioxide cannot fully promote the reverse Boudouard reaction that produces carbon monoxide fuel. When overly present, the carbon dioxide works as an inert gas that causes fuel loss. In addition, the excessive carbon monoxide may result in coking on the catalyst surface, leading to the decrease in the power performance.
