A Comparison of guided image filtering algorithms based disparity enhancement for view interpolation (영상 보간을 위한 유도 영상 필터링 기반의 변이 보정 기법의 성능 비교)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 보간의 결과 측면에서 깊이를 보정하는 방법 중 하나인 유도 영상 필터링 기법을 비교한다. 실험을 위해 초기 깊이 영상을 두 종류의 유도 영상 필터링 기법으로 개선을 하였다. 초기 깊이 영상과, 각각의 필터링 기법에 의해 개선된 변이 영상을 이용하여 영상 보간을 하였고, 그 결과를 비교하였다. 결과로서 한 시점 영상의 텍스처 정보만을 이용하여 변이를 개선하는 유도 영상 필터링 기법으로 변이 영상을 개선하게 되는 경우에 육안으로는 구분이 갈 정도로 변이가 개선이 되지만, 영상 보간의 측면에서 보았을 때는 크게 차이가 없거나 오히려 품질이 저하되는 경우를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In Korea, the number of institutions providing breast MRI, as well as the number of breast MRIs, has recently increased. However, MRI-guided procedures, including biopsy and needle localization, are rarely performed compared to ultrasound-guided or stereotactic biopsy. As breast MRI has high sensitivity but limited specificity, lesions detected only on MRI require pathologic confirmation through MRI-guided biopsy or surgical excision with MRI-guided needle localization. Thus, we aimed to review MRI-guided procedures, including their indications, techniques, procedural considerations, and limitations.

Noise Removal in Magnetic Resonance Images based on Non-Local Means and Guided Image Filtering (비 지역적 평균과 유도 영상 필터링에 기반한 자기 공명 영상의 잡음 제거)

  • In this letter, we propose a noise reduction method for use in magnetic resonance images that is based on non-local mean and guided image filters. Our method consists of two phases. In the first phase, the guidance image is obtained from a noisy image by using an adaptive non-local mean filter. The spread of the kernel is adaptively by controlled by implementing the concept of edgeness. In the second phase, the noisy images and the guidance images are provided to the guided image filter as input in order to produce a noise-free image. The improved performance of the proposed method is investigated by conducting experiments on standard datasets that contain magnetic resonance images. The results show that the proposed scheme is superior over the existing approaches.

Usability of 2D/2D Match for Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) of Prostate Cancer with Fiducial Markers (전립선 암 환자의 영상유도 방사선 치료 시 Fiducial Marker를 이용한 2D/2D Match의 유용성에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: To study the efficacy of marker match with using kilovoltage (KV) X-ray among multiple image guidance that referring tree fiducial marker in radiation therapy for prostate cancer patients. Materials and Methods: KV two-dimantional images (anterior-posterior, right-left) and cone-beam CT volumetric images were acquired after setup for patients with three fiducial markers. Compare the position of the fiducial marker of reference plan computed tomography (CT) and of KV, CBCT images; then decide the shift score of X, Y, and Z. This study executed 5 times on 10 patients and analyzed the shift value. Results: In the radiation therapy using fiducial marker, The function of marker match showed the same direction tendency as the CBCT, and showed X, Y, Z difference of about 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8 (unit: mm). Conclusion: Comparing to this, the result of shift value using 2D marker match showed less than 1.0 mm difference. The function of marker match is considered more useful in time-wise and effective dose rather than CBCT. Therefore, Both methods are used to treat patients for prostate cancer.

  • Ultrasonic guided waves have been widely utilized for long range inspection of structures. Recently, many researchers have paid attention to the tomographic imaging using guided wave for the diagnosis of plate-like structures because group velocity of guided waves is changed by central frequency of transducer and thickness of plate. Currently, Delay and Sum imaging technique and MVDR(Minimum Variance Distortionless Response) imaging technique are performed. So the performance of these two imaging techniques are investigated in this paper.

  • The operation of the precision-guided missiles with seekers is becoming more and more dominant since the modern wars became geographically localized like anti-terror campaigns and civil wars. Imaging seekers are relatively low-price and applicable to various operational conditions. The image tracker, however, requires highly advanced method for the target tracking under harsh missile flight condition. Missile roll can reduce the tracking performance since it introduces big differences in imagery. The missile roll is inevitable because of the disturbance and flight control error. Consequently, the errors of the subsystems should be under control for the stable performance of the tracker and the whole system. But the performance prediction by some simple metric is almost impossible since the target signature and the tracker are highly nonlinear. We established M&S tool for a precision-guided missile with imaging seeker and analyzed the roll effects to tracking and system performance. Furthermore, we defined the specification of missile subsystems through error analysis to guarantee system performance.

  • The success of image-guided breast biopsy depends on the biopsy method, needle selection, and appropriate technique based on the accurate judgment by the radiologist at biopsy. However, insufficient or inappropriate sampling of specimens may result in false-negative results or pathologic underestimation. Therefore, image-pathology concordance assessments after biopsy are essential for appropriate patient management. Particularly, the assessment of image-pathology concordance can avoid false-negative reports of breast cancer as a benign pathology. Therefore, this study aimed to discuss factors that impact the accurate interpretation of image-guided breast biopsy along with the appropriate assessments.

  • 시술 중 제공되는 2D영상은 실시간으로 환자와 시술도구의 상태정보를 제공해주지만 환부의 입체적ㆍ해부학적 파악이 어렵다. 따라서 긴 촬영시간으로 시술 전 획득되는 3D영상과 시술 중 얻어지는 2D영상간 정합영상은 영상 유도술에 있어서 유용한 정보를 제공한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 볼륨영상으로부터 혈관모델을 추출하고 이를 평면으로 투영하였다. 두 2D영상에서 정차대상이 되는 혈관골격을 추출한 후 혈관의 분기특성을 고려 한 초기정합을 수행하였다. 크기와 초기 위치를 맞춘 혈관골격을 골격간 거리가 최소가 되도록 반복적으로 혈관을 기하변환시키고 최종 변환된 혈관골격을 시술 중 제공되는 2D영상에 겹쳐 가시화 하였다. 이로써 시술시간 경감과 시술성공률 향상을 유도할 수 있는 시술경로맵을 제시하고자 하였다.

Spectral Quality Enhancement of Pan-Sharpened Satellite Image by Using Modified Induction Technique (수정된 영상 유도 기법을 통한 융합영상의 분광정보 향상 알고리즘)

  • High-spatial resolution remote sensing satellites (IKONOS-2, QuickBird and KOMPSAT-2) have provided low-spatial resolution multispectral images and high-spatial resolution panchromatic images. Image fusion or Pan-sharpening is a very important in that it aims at using a satellite image with various applications such as visualization and feature extraction through combining images that have a different spectral and spatial resolution. Many image fusion algorithms are proposed, most methods could not preserve the spectral information of original multispectral image after image fusion. In order to solve this problem, modified induction technique which reduce the spectral distortion of fused image is developed. The spectral distortion is adjusted by the comparison between the spatially degraded pan-sharpened image and original multispectral image and our algorithm is evaluated by QuickBird satellite imagery. In the experiment, pan-sharpened image by various methods can reduce spectral distortion when our algorithm is applied to the fused images.
