  • The problem of semantic interoperability in science and technology information is frequently raised. Well-established classification scheme will be used as a tool to interchange information between different databases without semantic inconsistency. However, there is still a practical barrier due to different classification schemes each database adopts. Accordingly, it is urgent to harmonize or reconcile those classifications with each other. This paper aims to solve semantic inconsistencies occurred when interchanging information between databases having different classification schemes, the Standard National Sci-Tech Classification and the Standard KISTI Classification. For the purpose a conceptual analysis of science and technology are performed and five consistency/inconsistency types are analyzed based on some examples.

  • With the recent development of 4th industrial revolution technology, BIM information systems are spreading to civil engineering fields as a link to this technology. Accordingly, the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry is announcing a technical policy to introduce the BIM information system into the construction sector from 2020. Usually, SOC-related facilities are complex, making it difficult to implement BIM without a standards framework. To overcome these problems, it is urgent to develop a BIM standard classification system. In this study, the BIM property classification system was developed to link the previously developed object classification system by analyzing domestic and foreign prior studies and working standards. This includes property information of businesses, facilities, parts of facilities and components that correspond to the level of object composition in the road and river sectors. It also suggested ways to apply expansion to various SOC areas and to organize spatial information by facility. The results of this study were applied to road facilities to verify the possibility of information building. The development of the BIM Standards Classification System through this R&D will contribute to the development of construction IT by providing conditions for convenient modeling and information system.

  • The activity conducted throughout the life cycle of any facility generate an enormous quantity of data that needs to be stored, retrieved, communicated, and used by all parties involved. Advanced in technology have increased the opportunities for gathering, providing access to exchanging, and archiving all of this information for future reference. Considering that classification system of construction material is reviewed international exchange of information by the ISO standard, it is consist of classification form of construction process. As a result, this study analyzed to OmniClass Table-22(Master Format-20(4) for the purpose of gaining a the international standard and electronic information, and compared to OmniClass Table-23 ${\cdot}$ 35 ${\cdot}$ 41(UniClass, EPIC) for the expansion and standardization. Furthermore, it is tried to integrate with UN/SPSC attribute code for the establishing of application and international exchange.

  • The industry information grows faster than any other information resources in the Internet age. Unfortunately, however, there is no consensus on the standard of the classification among the information providers of the industry fields. This may a problematic issue not only in building a continuous and systematic development of the industry information, but also in the use of the information among the users. This study aims to propose a well-structured and/or an efficient classification scheme for the industry information to help the users with easy to retrieve the Internet resources. To do this, we analyzed the subject classification scheme of the domestic industry information on the web sites, which is largely adopted the \"Korean Standard for the Industry Classification\". In addition, we suggested the principle of the subject classification and their hierarchial structure derived from the analysis of the knowledge and document classification scheme. As a result, it was suggested an optimized industry classification scheme based on the analysis of the validity test of classification item measured by the quantitative analysis of the industry information, which it currently accessible through the Internet. • This study is to suggest a classification system to classify the military information resources on the internet. In the first part, it compares LCC\`s Class U(military Science) and Class V(Naval Science) with Yahoo! Korea\`s web site classification system(Home/Government/Military). The second part compares the classes of Yahoo! Korea with those of Simmani search engine and Yahoo! US. Based on this comparative analysis, it proposes a classificatory system for the military information resources on the internet.

  • It has problems to use the existing construction information classification system as the bridge breakdown structure due to lack of relationships between element classes. In this study, we proposed the bridge breakdown system for supplementation of above-mentioned classification system. The proposed system, for geometric information modeling, was based on international standards of methodology for structuring part families namely PLIB Part 42. In particular, the breakdown system, considering of the functional classification for the semantic information of the elements is included. In addition, we proposed a basic framework for actual modeling using bridge breakdown system and showed that it can be used in practice.

  • In order to classify and manage on-line trading goods, the product classification scheme must be maintained. In most systems for handling product information, the classification scheme is managed manually by experts, which in general incurs a lot of time and cost. Effective management of classification system becomes more important as rapid development of industry expedites diversity and convergence of goods and services. There have been many researches on developing classification scheme, and continuing in this line of research, this paper proposes a new method for automatic generation of product classification scheme. Our main idea starts from the concept that a product is a set of attributes, and we propose a novel algorithm for automatically creating hierarchical classification scheme by utilizing inclusive relationships between products. We then prove the effectiveness of proposed algorithm by conducting an experiment.

  • This paper reports a case study in which Saracevic and Kantor's derived taxonomy of library services was applied to qualitative data gathered from sixteen university library users. Using face-to-face interview method, we collected user responses related to the reasons of using services, aspects of interaction, and results of using services. Specific codes from the taxonomy were applied to the verbal expressions. The results show that library services are being used for a variety of purposes and that this approach enables us to effectively capture and classify service value expressed in users' own words. The taxonomy is evaluated to be quite comprehensive and scalable.

  • Public records, produced during the period of Government-General of Chosun. are essential sources for Korean modern history research. The purpose of this study is to provide a guideline for developing function-based classification scheme for the records. This present paper begins with analyzing archival principles regarding the function-based classification. and examines the problems of current arrangement practices. Based on these analyses, it suggests a guideline for constructing a classification system and a functional thesaurus for the public records of Government-General of Chosun. This guideline also covers functional analysis process and some considerations of different classification aspects which are conceptual, verbal and notational.
