  • Over the years, cluster analysis has become a popular tool for marketing and segmentation researchers. There are various methods for cluster analysis. Among them, K-means partitioning cluster analysis is the most popular segmentation method. However, because the cluster analysis is very sensitive to the initial configurations of the data set at hand, it becomes an important issue to select an appropriate starting configuration that is comparable with the clustering of the whole data so as to improve the reliability of the clustering results. Many programs for K-mean cluster analysis employ various methods to choose the initial seeds and compute the centroids of clusters. In this paper, we suggest a methodology to evaluate various clustering programs. Furthermore, to explore the usability of the methodology, we evaluate four clustering programs by using the methodology.

  • As network systems are developed rapidly and network architectures are more complex than before, it needs to use PBNM(Policy-Based Network Management) in network system. Generally, architecture of the PBNM consists of two hierarchical layers: management layer and enforcement layer. A security policy server in the management layer should be able to generate new policy, delete, update the existing policy and decide the policy when security policy is requested. And the security policy server should be able to analyze and manage the alert messages received from Policy enforcement system in the enforcement layer for the available information. In this paper, we propose an alert analyzer using data mining. First, in the framework of the policy-based network security management, we design and implement an alert analyzes that analyzes alert data stored in DBMS. The alert analyzer is a helpful system to manage the fault users or hosts. Second, we implement a data mining system for analyzing alert data. The implemented mining system can support alert analyzer and the high level analyzer efficiently for the security policy management. Finally, the proposed system is evaluated with performance parameter, and is able to find out new alert sequences and similar alert patterns.

  • The Smartphone, one of essential mobile devices widely used recently, can be very effectively applied to capture knowledge on the spot by jointly applying the pervasive functionality of cloud computing. The process of knowledge capturing can be also effectively automated if the topic of knowledge is automatically identified. Therefore, this paper suggests an interdisciplinary approach to automatically acquire knowledge on the spot by combining technologies of text mining-based topic identification and cloud computing-based Smartphone. The Smartphone is used not only as the recorder to record knowledge possessor's dialogue which plays the role of the knowledge source, but also as the sensor to collect knowledge possessor's context data which characterize specific situations surrounding him or her. The support vector machine, one of well-known outperforming text mining algorithms, is applied to extract the topic of knowledge. By relating the topic and context data, a business rule can be formulated, and by aggregating the rule, the topic, context data, and the dictated dialogue, a set of knowledge is automatically acquired.

  • A concept network is an essential knowledge base for semantic search engines, personalized search systems, recommendation systems, and text mining. Recently, studies of extending concept representation using external ontology have been frequently conducted. We thus propose a new way of building 3-dimensional text model-based concept networks using the world knowledge-level Wikipedia ontology. In fact, it is desirable that 'concepts' derived from text documents are defined according to the theoretical framework of formal concept analysis, since relationships among concepts generally change over time. In this paper, concept networks hidden in a given document collection are extracted more reasonably by representing a concept as a term-by-document matrix.

  • In this paper, we suggest a plan to take advantage of the SNS data to proactively identify the information on crime risk factor and to prevent crime. Recently, SNS(Social Network Service) data have been used to build a proactive prevention system in a variety of fields. However, when users are collecting SNS data with simple keyword, the result is contain a large amount of unrelated data. It may possibly accuracy decreases and lead to confusion in the data analysis. So we present a method that can be efficiently extracted by improving the search accuracy through text mining analysis of SNS data.

  • In the era of big data, not only structured data well organized in databases, but also the Internet, social network services, it is very important to effectively analyze unstructured big data such as web documents, e-mails, and social data generated in real time in mobile environment. Big data analysis is the process of creating new value by discovering meaningful new correlations, patterns, and trends in big data stored in data storage. We intend to summarize and visualize the analysis results through frequency analysis of unstructured article data using R language, a big data analysis tool. The data used in this study was analyzed for total 104 papers in the Mon-May 2021 among the journals of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering. In the final analysis results, the most frequently mentioned keyword was "Data", which ranked first 1,538 times. Therefore, based on the results of the analysis, the limitations of the study and theoretical implications are suggested.

  • This study aims to analyze the changes in public perception of abandoned dogs through big data analysis. Data from January 2017 to July 2020 were collected to analyze how the quantitative change in social issues with abandoned dogs as a keyword had an effect on public perception of abandoned dogs, and factors that influence positive/negative perceptions. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the number of stray dogs and the number of documents related to stray dogs had a positive correlation, and specific time series changes were found through various analysis techniques such as text mining, network analysis, and sentiment analysis. This study will have significance as basic data that can be used for policy establishment or other research on abandoned dogs. we hope it will help to solve problems so as to improve awareness of abandoned dogs and develop a sense of responsibility.

  • Social media big data includes a lot of information that can identify not only consumer consumption patterns but also local images. This paper was collected annually data including 'Samcheok' from 2015 to 2019 from Blog and Cafe of Naver and Daum in domestic portal site, and analyzed the regional image change after refining keyword which forms the regional image by performing text mining and network analysis. According to the research results, the regional image of 2015 was expressed with image cognitive elements of the nearby place name or place etc. such as 'Jangho Port', 'Donghae', and 'Beach'. However the regional image both 2016 and 2019 were changed with image cognitive elements of 'SamcheokSolbich' which is a special place within region. Therefore as the keywords related to the local image include 'Jangho Port' and Resort, which are the representative attractions of Samcheok, it can be seen that the infrastructure factor plays a big role in forming the local image. The significance test for the network data used the bootstrap technique, and the p-values in 2015, 2016, and 2019 were 0.0002, 0.0006, and 0.0002, respectively, which were found to be statistically significant at the significance level of 5%.

  • We intend to use topic modeling to identify radiation-themed papers published from 1989 to 2022 and analyze the relevance and weight between topics. This study analyzed topics derived from national subjects for 717 papers published until recently in 2022 to contribute to the revitalization of research in the field of radiation. Through text mining, overall research trends on the subject distribution of the study were analyzed, and five topics were derived through topic modeling. First, among the papers to be analyzed, a total of 1,675 words were frequency-analyzed through the preprocessing process of key words in a total of 717 papers centered on keywords. Second, as a result of analyzing topics based on the association of constituent words for five topics, it was found that studies focused on minimizing dose in the range that does not degrade image quality in the fields of radiation, image, CT clinical. In addition, it was found that various studies were mainly conducted in the MRI, and the study of ultrasound in various areas of disease analysis was actively attempted.

  • This study aims to improve the information service so that construction engineers and construction project participants without specialized knowledge can easily understand the important words and the interrelationships between them in construction practice. To this end, using text mining and network centrality, the frequency of occurrence of words, topic modeling, and network centrality in construction practice information such as technical information, case information, and cost reduction, which are most used in the Construction Technology Digital Library, were analyzed. Through this analysis, design, construction, project management, specifications, standards, and maintenance related to road construction such as roads, pavements, bridges, and tunnels were identified as important in construction practice. In addition, correlations were analyzed for words with high importance by measuring Degree Centrality and Eigenvector Centrality. The result was that more useful information could be provided if the technical information was expanded. Finally, we presented the limitations of the study results and additional studies according to the limitations.
