RBAC(Role-Based Access Control) is an access control method based on the user's role and it provides more flexibility on the various computer and network security fields. But, RBAC models consider only users for roles or permissions, so for the purpose of exact access control within real application systems, it is necessary to consider additional subjects and objects. In this paper, we propose an Extended RBAC model, $ERBAC_3$, for access control of multi-level security system by adding users, subjects, objects and roles level to RBAC, which enables multi-level security control.

RBAC(Role Based Access Control) is an access control method based on the user's roles and it provides more flexibility and applicability on the various computer and network security fields than DAC(Discretionary Access Control) or MAC(Mandatory Access Control). In this paper, we newly propose ERBAC$_{0}$(Extended RBAC$_{0}$) model by considering subject's and object's roles additionally to REAC$_{0}$ model which is firstly proposed by Ravi S. Sandhu as a base model. The proposed ERBAC$_{0}$ model provides finer grained access control on the base of subject and object level than RBAC$_{0}$ model.

Like most large organizations, there are business rules such as 'separation of duty' and 'delegation' which should be considered in access control. From a SOD point of view, previous SOD models built on the (Administrative) Role-Based Access Control model cannot present the best solution to security problems such as information integrity by the limited constituent units such as role hierarchy and role inheritance. Thus, we propose a new integrated management model of administration role-based access control model and SOD policy, which is called the OS-SoDAM. The OS-SoDAM defines the authority range in an organizational structure that is separated from role hierarchy and supports a decentralized security officer-level SOD policy in which a local security officer can freely perform SOD policies within a security officer's authority range without the security officer's intervention.
In current role-based systems, security officers handle assignments of users to roles. This may increase management efforts in a distributed environment because of the continuous involvement from security officers. The technology of role-based delegation provides a means for implementing RBAC in a distributed environment with empowerment of individual users. The basic idea behind a role-based delegation is that users themselves may delegate role authorities to other users to carry out some functions on behalf of the former. This paper presents a rule-based framework for user-level delegation model in which a user can delegate role authority by creating new delegation roles. Also, a rule-based language for specifying and enforcing the policies is introduced.
Separation of Duty(SOD), with delegation, is one of important security principles in access control area. The role-based access control model adopts SOD principle, but it has some problems; SOD concept is inconsistent with role hierarchy, permissions that have no relation with SOD may be restricted, and delegation may violate SOD. We propose permission-based SOD model on role-based access control. We establishes SOD as a set of permissions instead of role level SOD. Furthermore we propose a principle of role activation. It solves SOD problems of RBAC and supports easy implementation of SOD policy.

Role-Based Access Control(RBAC) model is becoming a promising model for enterprise environments with various organization structures. In terms of role hierarchy, each senior role inherits all the permissions of its junior roles in the role hierarchy, and a user who is a member of senior role is authorized to carry out the inherited permissions as well as his/her own ones. But there is a possibility for senior role members to abuse permissions. Since senior role members need not have all the authority of junior roles in the real world, enterprise environments require a restricted inheritance rather than a unconditional or blocked inheritance. In this paper, we propose a new role-based delegation model using the role hierarchy model with restricted inheritance functionality, in which security administrator can easily control permission inheritance behavior using sub-roles. Also, we describe how role-based user-to-user, role-to-role delegations are accomplished in the model and the characteristics of the proposed role-based delegation model.
