The purpose of this study is to analyze the attitudes and perception of Yeosu citizen towards cultural arts and city policy of Yeosu for establishing the culture city. The results of the study shows that first, the citizens of Yeosu is dissatisfied with the local culture and arts. It is necessary to provide a variety of cultural arts space, and the facility for the citizen. Second, the citizens are dissatisfied with their culture and arts policy and administration. For successful promotion of urban cultural art as well as the for successful hosting of the 2012 Yeosu World Expo, the policy to participate of local people in the culture and arts administration should proceed. Third, as the policy of culture and arts city of Yeosu, the established facilities for the World Expo 2012 should be transformed and be leased out for small-scale of local arts and cultural events. Finally, the study shows that opportunities for artistic creation and cultural activities should be available to local artists and the opportunity to participate for the arts is necessary to expand for Yeosu citizens.

To select a suitable seed for aquaculture, four strains of Hizikia fusiformis, collected from Haenam, Wando, Yosu, Chungmu and Pusan, were cultured under similar conditions at Wando, southern coast of Korea from December, 1993 to July, 1994. A comparative study on the monthly growth rate of these plants indicated that the maximum growth was attained by Yosu strain in May but the others in June-July. At the harvest time in May, Yosu strain yielded a maximum of 15.8 kg/$m^2$ of culture rope, while that of Pusan a minimum of 1.5 kg/$m^2$.

The EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea is a leading special event held in Yeosu city, Jeonnam Province from May to August 2012. It is a general expectation to encounter many research papers on the analyses of economic impacts of special event after the event was held. As far as we found, however, there is no related research. With based on these issues, the aim of this article is to identify and examine the economic impacts of the EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea in hosting area, Yeosu area. The economic impacts of EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea in Yeosu area are as follows; increase of total number of business, increase of total amount of global income tax, in particular, tourism related business such as food and hospitality sectors, production inducement effect about 8 trillion and 5,783 billion won in the entire industrial sector, and production inducement effect about 3 trillion and 8,097 billion won in the tourism related industrial sector.

거문도 지역의 정보통신망시설에 관한 조사를 하기 위하여 2003년 9월 23일 우리는(연구 책임자인 본인과 연구보조원 2명) 거문도의 통신시설 및 통신상태현황 등을 조사하기 위해 오후 2시 20분 주식회사 온바다 소속의 페가서스호를 타고 여수여객선 터미널을 출발, 오후 4시23분 거문도에 도착, 24일까지 자료수집을 하고 오전 10시 20분 거문도를 출발, 12시 10분 여수에 도착하였다. 여수에 도착하여 다음날(25일) 자료수집을 위해 여수 해양경찰서를 방문하여 통신망에 관한 자료를 수집하였다. (중략)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the residents' perceptions and assessments of impacts of the EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea, hosted from May 15 to August 15, 2012. Residents of Yeosu area, in general, assessed the impacts of the EXPO highly positively and showed as a high degree of satisfaction. They evaluated the urban development effects of the EXPO as a 3.61 point in a 5 point scale and a total degree of satisfaction of 65.2%. In terms of perception and satisfaction index, it showed that 79.4% of an improvement of transportation infrastructure, 72.1% of an urban environmental improvement, 70.4% of an increase in visiting tourists, 69.0% of a raising of self-esteem as Yeosu citizens, 67.8% of an improvement of city's image, 66.2% of an enhancement of inner city transportation infrastructure, 60.5% of an enhancement of infrastructure of tourism, 51.3% of an local economy vitaliation, and 49.7% of a globalization effect in order. In conclusion, through the hosting of the EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea, residents of Yeosu area assessed, the urban development in transportation infrastructure was moved advanced by eleven years and the residential environment improvement by eight years.

Nutritional constituents of native Yangha (zingiber mioga) in Yeosu and Cheju areas were examined. Average water, crude protein, crude lipid, carbohydrate, ash, and fiber contents of Yangha were 94.85, 0.62, 0.24, 3.30, 0.92, and 0.74%, respectively. Proximate composition of Yangha was significantly different between two areas except moisture and ash content. Average calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, and manganese contents were 40.57, 55.60, 26.14, 598.58, 4.14, 0,26, and 0.26 mg/100g, respectively. Magnesium, sodium, and iron contents of CY were significantly higher than those of YY. Total amino acid contents of Yangha was 645.19mg/100g. Amino acid of Yangha showed high content of glutamic acid, followed by aspartic acid and valine.

This study suggests a development direction by comparing the cargo throughput of the port of Yeosu-Gwangyang during 2007-2015 with that of domestic ports. It derived a concentration index (HHI) of cargo throughput in domestic ports by Yeosu-Gwangyang port docks, shipping companies, and abroad regions. The main results were as follows. First, in terms of total cargo handled, the port of Yeosu-Gwangyang was second only to the port of Busan, and the HHIs for the past nine years were relatively low. Second, the port of Yeosu-Gwangyang ranked first for total import and export cargo throughput, showing relatively stable HHIs from 2007 to 2015. Third, the HHIs of container handling performance by national shipping companies showed stable levels below 1,800. Fourth, there were no regions where cargo volume was noticeably concentrated in the port of Yeosu-Gwangyang, and it showed cargo throughput across various abroad regions. While changes in national shipping companies are expected after the Hanjin Shipping Crisis, there should be no serious concern regarding the dependence of the port of Yeosu-Gwangyang. It is expected to develop further by realizing the full use of all its facilities, diversifying the tenants in the Yeosu-Gwangyang area, and improving the demurrage rate.

This paper examines the change of quality of life in the Integrated Yosu City and suggests the directions of urban development. Research into the quality of life in local and region scale is interesting both from the point of view of theory and practice, and has attracted much attention in the social sciences since the 1960s. This study is an attempt to examine the change of the quality of hie in the Integrated Yosu City. In the overall assessment of the level of satisfaction about the quality of life during the past five years, most of the respondents have positive evaluation of the changes of quality of urban life. In particular, the quality of living facilities, urban administration and convenience services has relatively improved during the past five years. On the other hand, the quality of physical environment. art and cultural opportunities, transportation options has been backward during the past five years. Therefore, the directions of urban development of the Integrated Yosu City may be summarized as follows: the establishment of a wide transportation network system, waterfront development, the activation of tourism industry and harbor works, the preparation of an urban landscape, the citizens'campaign for a community culture.

This paper attempts to examine the effect of EXPO 2012 Yeosu on the economy of Gwangyang bay area. Based on previous successful EXPOs, We identified four major positive effects (direct economic impact, regional infrastructure developments, redevelopment of slum areas and industrial complex, and internationalization of Gwangyang bay area). Especially, EXPO 2012 Yeosu will contribute to make the job creation of 97,842 employees and promote tourism industry. To maximize the above positive effects of EXPO 2012 Yeosu, we suggest several strategic alternatives in this paper. First of all, we need to make several plans for realizing the specialized theme of EXPO 2012 Yeosu. Second, local governments should create a more favorable business environment for foreign investors. Third, we have to make the strategic tourism programs to attract foreign tourists. Finally, local governments need to make the several communication strategies of utilizing mass media and non-mass media.

연안지역의 침수예상도 작성은 풍수해저감종합계획 수립 시 진행되었으며. 풍수해저감종합계획을 통해 상습적으로 침수가 발생하는 구역에 대한 조사 결과 및 침수피해 이력 등을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 침수 발생 원인을 하천, 강 등의 범람에 의한 외수침수, 유역 내 관로의 문제에 의해 발생하는 내수침수, 조위 상승, 해수의 역류 등에 의한 해수침수로 구분하였다. 대상 지역인 여수시 여수시청 인근 지역은 남해와 인접하고 있어 조위에 의한 영향을 받기 때문에, 유역 내 관로와 함께 해수 내수 복합원인에 의한 침수피해가 발생한다. 침수가 발생했을 때의 피해 발생 범위를 가시적으로 나타내기 위해 침수예상도를 작성하며, 이는 XP-SWMM을 통해 작성할 수 있다. XP-SWMM에 입력하는 자료는 강우재현기간에 따른 조위(해일고), 강우지속기간에 따른 강우분포 자료 등을 입력한다. 강우자료는 실강우 자료를 사용하는 경우 많은 시나리오를 반영하는데 한계가 있기 때문에 Huff 3분위 분포시킨 자료를 사용하였다. 또한, 침수가 발생하는 지역의 강우지속시간 및 강우량에 의한 침수위를 산정하여 재해상황 대응 기준표를 작성하였다. 본 연구에서는 강우재현기간 100년에 따른 재해상황 대응 기준표 작성과 강우재현기간 10년-강우지속기간 60분-50mm, 110mm을 기준으로 침수예상도를 작성하였다. 본 연구를 통해 여수시청 인근(학동지구 및 도원지구)에 대한 침수예상도를 얻어낼 수 있으며, 침수예상도를 응용한 기대효과가 있을 것으로 판단된다. 침수예상도를 통해 침수 발생 범위를 예측하여 이를 고려한 침수 시 대피경로 작성, 침수 피해를 저감하기 위한 구조적 대책 수립 방안마련 등에 응용이 가능하며, 여수지역을 제외한 연안도시 지역에도 적용하여 연안도시 침수특성분석 연구에 기여할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 침수모의 조건을 한정하여 1개의 시나리오만을 고려했지만, 강우재현기간 및 강우지속시간 등을 보정하여 다양한 시나리오에 대한 분석이 가능하므로, 연안도시 재해 발생 시 대응 및 기준표 작성에 실질적인 기여가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
