아쿠아이온을 이용한 농산물의 선도 유지

  • 기존 저온저장고의 가습방법을 개선하고 아울러 음이온을 농산물의 선도 유지에 이용하고자 아쿠아이온발생시스템의 설계, 제작이 레너드효과를 응용하여 이루어졌다. 시스템의 아쿠아음이온의 발생량은 42,965음이온/cc, 입자크기는 $10^3$$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하, 가습속도는 0.13$\ell$/h이었으며 85% 이상의 고습도 조건에서도 결로가 발생하지 않는 상태로 가습이 가능하였다. 아쿠아이온 클러스터에 의해 저장고는 90% 이상의 균일한 고습도와 정온을 유지할 수가 있었다. 아쿠아이온시스템의 경우 유해가스와 분진등을 흡착, 제거하여 저장고 내를 청정하게 유지시키는 기능이 있는데, 에틸렌가스 제거 효과는 초기 농도 50ppm에서 5분후에 50% 이상이 제거되고 2시간 후에는 3ppm 이하로 제거되었다. 아쿠아이온발생시스템이 브로콜리, 잎상추, 애호박 등의 보관에 적용되었다. 아쿠아이온발생시스템이 부착된 저장고($0^{\circ}C$)에서 20일동안 보관한 경우 기존 저장고에 보관한 경우에 비하여 감모율, 부패율 및 관능적 품질에 있어서 유의적으로 우수한 차이를 나타내었다.

  • The effect of transesterification on the rheological properties in the melt reactive blending of poly(butylene terephthalate)(PBT) with poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) has been studied. The melt viscosity depression in PBT was found in PBT/PET blends due to the intrinsic low melt viscosity of PET compared to PBT. In addition, the thermal degradation in the melt blending and transesterification between two polyesters were considered as other factors fer the lowering of the melt viscosity in the blends. In the PBT/PET blends, calcium stearate was less effective than in PBT as a lubricant, however it accelerated both the thermal degradation and transesterification during melt blending. As a result, further melt viscosity drop was obtained in the reactive melt blending of PBT/PET.

  • This study was designed to examine whether 'Hongro' apples packaged with natural calcium-coated package papers was fresher maintained than fruit held in not-packaged tray, and whether postharvest physiology of the fruits was affected by calcium-coated papers, or not. The summarized results were as follows; Soluble solids contents and firmness of fruit were higher room temperature(20~25℃) after 4 week and 14 week in cold storage(0~1℃) by calcium-coated package papers. but total acid contents in juice and Hunter a value of peel were trended to decrease in room temperature and cold storage. Weight loss of fruit, decay fruit and CO2 evolution were decreased by calcium and wax-coated package papers in room temperature storage condition. Also, excellent fruits increased. Ethylene evolution in fruit were not different by package paper and storage condition.

  • Ethylene glycol (EG) is the most commonly used for automotive antifreeze, and it's easily misuseful for human. EG poisoning occurs in suicide attempts and infrequently, either intentionally through misuse or accidentally because of sweet taste. Though EG itself is mild toxic to the human body, it becomes higher toxic organic acids by in vivo broken down that are responsible for extensive cellular damage in various tissues caused principally by the metabolites. It is already well known that various cellular stresses induce gene expression of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) chaperones and ER stress sensors. This study demonstrated that regulation of gene expression of ER chaperones and ER stress sensors was induced by EG in rat tissues, and in tissues histological changes are also detected by both staining H&E and immunofluorescent.

  • An effect of low-temperature long-term thermal degradation on a degree of crystallinity of a low density polyethylene (LDPE) was investigated by using $^1H$ solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR). Firstly, the long-term thermal treatment makes a color of LDPE from white to pale yellow which is indicative of thermal oxidation. Secondly, it makes the $^{1}H$ NMR spin-spin and spin-lattice relaxation times ($T_1$) to be long. Lastly, the degree of crystallinity of the semicrystalline aged-LDPE also decreases with thermal treatment. Above all, the $T_1$ increase is envisaged to be due to either a decrease of the amorphous regions governing overall spin-lattice relaxation mechanism in LDPEs or a dynamically restricted motion of specific molecular motions by intermolecular hydrogen bonding or crosslinking. However, since the decrease of crystallinity implies an increase of amorphous regions by the thermal treatment, the former case is contrast to our results. Accordingly, we concluded that the latter effect is responsible for the $T_1$ increase.

  • The variation of chemical structure and physical properties of crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) during thermal aging process was investigated. The formation of carbonyl functional group resulting from thermal oxidation reaction of XLPE was monitored using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. It was observed that the intensity of carbonyl peak observed at 1715 nm linearly increased with aging time in NIR spectroscopy. The linear relationship between NIR peak absorbance and aging time confirmed that NIR spectroscopy might be used as a proper tool for monitoring the aging process of polymeric materials. Also the formation of crosslinks during the aging process was monitored using thermal mechanical analysis, stress-strain test, and Shore hardness test. The change in the physical properties, such as the increase in the glass transition temperature from 110 to 132$^{\circ}C$, the decrease in the strain from 265 to 110%, as well as the increase in the shore D hardness from 32 to 50, was observed during the aging process.

The Quality Change and Storage Life of 'Fuyu' Persimmon Chill-injured in Tree (저온피해 단감의 대형포장 저장에 따른 품질 변화)

  • The quality changes of 'Fuyu' persimmon fruits chill-injured on tree with different time periods were evaluated during storage of 6 weeks at $0^{\circ}C$. There was no significant difference among treatments in the weight loss, which increased with storage time. Firmness was found to be very important factor determining the quality level of persimmon fruit during the storage. The increased chill-injured period decreased the firmness, indicating the rapid fruit softening. While the firmness of the persimmons not exposed to chill-injured condition was not changed significantly during the storage period, the firmness of persimmon fruits chill-injured for 1, 3, and 5 days decreased from 26.7, 16.1, 10.8 N to 18.2, 12.22, and 5.8 N for 6 weeks. The total solids content and total acidity did not significantly change during the storage period. The amount of ethylene production from the chill-injured fruits was almost 2 times higher than that without low temperature injury. The results indicated that persimmon fruit injured by low temperature exposure directly affected to the changes of its ethylene production and firmness during storage.

  • This study was carried out to physicochemical properties and free CaO contents of coal ash in domestic circulating fludized bed combustion power plant using ethylene glycol method. Results of physicochemical properties, there are many differences in CaO contents for the region position in CFBC plant. The reason, It is considered to be reflected that regulation of exhaust concentration for oxides of sulfur and other operation characteristics of region position in CFBC plant. Free CaO contents are 1.96 ~ 10.78% of fly ash and 0.07~4.24 % of bottom ash, fly ash is higher than in the bottom ash. besides CaO contents of raw materials, particle distribution have a lot of influence Free CaO contents.

Effect of Preharvest Sprayable 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) Treatment on Fruit Quality Attributes in Cold Stored 'Gamhong' Apples (수확전 수체살포용 1-MCP 처리가 '감홍' 사과의 저온저장 중 과실품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This work was carried out to evaluate the effect of preharvest sprayable 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP: $Harvista^{TM}$) treatment on the fruit quality attributes in cold stored 'Gamhong' (Malus domestica Borkh) apples. Preharvest sprayable 1-MCP treatment did not affect fruit qualities at harvest but titratable acidity (TA) was higher in fruit treated 10 days before harvest (DBH) than in control. During cold storage, fruit firmness and TA were higher in 1-MCP treated fruit than in control fruit as storage duration progressed, while SSC was not affected. Internal ethylene concentration (IEC) levels were not different among treatments at harvest. While the IEC level in control fruit reached to $58.3{\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ after 6 month cold storage, the IEC levels in 1-MCP treated fruit ranged from 18.2 to $25.0{\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$. Therefore, this result indicates that preharvest sprayable 1-MCP treatment should be another promising approach to retain fruit quality attributes in long-term cold stored 'Gamhong' apples.

Extension of Storage Time of Chicon using Nanoparticle of Machilus thunbergii Extracts (후박추출물의 나노입자화를 통한 치콘의 저장기간 연장)

  • Machilus thunbergii has been showed relation to antimicrobial activity on minimal inhibitoty concentration (MIC) and colony forming inhibitory activity (CFIA) test, so that can be used to food preservatives for green vegetable. Nanoparticles has been made of edible materials. 80% of the nanoparticles has been characterized by image analyser and electron microscopy, showing in the range under 300 nm diameter. The sprayed nanoparticles remained on the surface of chicon even after washing by dilution water, then activate biological activities for storage of chicon with storing and releasement system of extracts. Chicon treated nanoparticle has been kept fresh condition about 2 months longer than 3 weeks of the non-treated control. It can be tell that treatment with nanoparticle of M. thunbergii extracts extends storage time of chicon possibly by inhibition of ethylene production through efficiency control on cell breathing.
