The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique and the single carrier with cyclic prefix (SC-CP) scheme are very attractive solutions for wireless applications, being computationally efficient since equalization is performed in the frequency domain. The equalizer could not entirely handle significant mean. Doppler shift. This motivates the use of a phase error tracking loop that operates jointly with the frequency equalizer. This paper describes the effect of the mean phase error and the performance of the proportional equalizer coupled with a phase error tracking loop based on decision-directed method. Furthermore, simulation results show that we can reduce the computational toad of the tracking loop with minimal performance degradation.

According to the development of Internet, DWDM system needs to improve the performance for long distance transmission international optical signals. For higher the transmission capacity, we have to raise the transmission speed and increase a number of channels. To make qualifications, there are a lot of technologies such as line coding, modulation, precious fiber, broadband amplification, dispersion and forward error correction. Especially, FEC has been considered as a progressive technology for long distance transmission to carry out high speed and large capacity traffic. This paper introduced the progress of each new generation of FEC and the way to employ by current system analyzed the coding gain.

In this paper, we propose a novel true-motion estimation technique supporting efficient frame error concealment for error-resilient video coding. In general, it is important to accurately obtain the true-motion of objects in video sequences for effectively recovering the corrupted frame due to transmission errors. However, the conventional motion estimation (ME) technique, which minimizes a sum of absolute different (SAD) between pixels of the current block and the motion-compensated block, does not always reflect the true-movement of objects. To solve this problem, we introduce a new metric called an absolute difference of motion vectors (ADMV) which is the distance between motion vectors of the current block and its motion-compensated block. The proposed ME method can prevent unreliable motion vectors by minimizing the weighted combination of SAD and ADMV. In addition, the proposed ME method can significantly improve the performance of error concealment at the decoder since error concealment using the ADMV can effectively recover the missing motion vector without any information of the lost frame. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides similar coding efficiency to the conventional ME method and outperforms the existing error-resilient method.

In the typical data partitioning for error-resilient video coding, motion and macroblock header information is separated from the texture information. It can be an effective tool for the transmission of video over the error prone environment. For Intra-coded frames, however, the loss of DCT (discrete cosine transform) coefficients is fatal because there is no ther information to reconstruct the corrupted macroblocks by errors. For Inter-coded frames, when error occurs in DCT coefficients, the picture quality is degraded because all DCT coefficients are discarded in those packets. In this paper, we propose an efficient data partitioning and coding method for DCT-based error-resilient video. The quantized DCT coefficients are partitioned into the even-value approximation and the remainder parts. It is shown that the proposed algorithm provides a better quality of the high priority part than the conventional methods.

Due to the requirement of the development of the precision manufacturing industry, the accuracy of machine tools has become a key issue in this field. A critical factor that affects the accuracy of machine tools is the feed system, which is generally driven by a ball screw. Basically, to improve the performance of the feed drive system, which will be thermally extended lengthwise by continuous usage, a thermal error compensation system that is highly dependent on the feedback temperature or positioning data is employed in the machine tool system. Due to the overdependence on measuring technology, the cost of the compensation system and low productivity level are inevitable problems in the machine tool industry. This paper presents a novel feed drive thermal error compensation system method that could compensate for thermal error without positioning or temperature feedback. Regarding this thermal error compensation system, the heat generation of components, principal of compensation, thermal model, mathematic model, and calculation method are discussed. As a result, the test data confirm the correctness of the developed feed drive thermal error compensation system very well.

The recent Internet is changing from its best-effort service and needs the network structure and traffic engineering, which can support various applications requiring differentiated traffic processing and high quality of service. The extension of the Internet from wired to wireless system generating location-dependent and burst errors make more difficult to support a good service with the existing packet scheduling algorithm. In this paper, we propose a wireless diffserv packet scheduling (WDSPS) algorithm that can provide reliable service in the differentiated wireless internet service network. The proposed scheduling algorithm solves the HOL(head of line) blocking problems of class queue occurred in wireless network, supports the differentiated service for each class which is defined in differentiated service networks and makes possible the gradual and efficient service compensation not only among classes but also among flows to prevent the monopoly of one class or one flow. Through simulations, we show that our proposed WDSPS scheduling algorithm can provide the required QoS differentiation between classes and enhance the service throughput in various wireless network conditions.

As deep learning technology advances, there have been many attempts to improve video codecs such as High-Efficiency-Video-Coding (HEVC) using deep learning technology. One of the most researched approaches is improving filters inside codecs through image restoration researches. In this paper, we propose a method 01 replacing the sample adaptive offset (SAO) filtering with a deep neural network. The proposed method uses the deep neural network to find the optimal offset value. The proposed network consists of two subnetworks to find the offset value and its type of the signal, which can restore nonlinear and complex type of error. Experimental results show that the performance is better than the conventional HEVC in low delay P and random access mode.

In this paper, optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) for best compensating distorted WDM channels due to both chromatic dispersion and self phase modulation (SPM) in $8{\times}40$ Gbps WDM systems is numerically investigated, and the eye opening penalty (EOP) and bit error rate (BER) characteristics of overall WDM channels at this position is investigated, comparing with that in case of OPC placed at mid-way of total transmission length. It is confirmed that the compensation extents in WDM system with OPC is more improved by the shifting OPC position from the mid-way of total transmission length, depending on the modulation format and fiber dispersion coefficient. Ant it is confirmed that, from a viewpoint of the reception performance, EOP of each channel is more or less different with one another, but the BER characteristics of overall channels are almost equal.

In this paper we describe our investigation en ATM CLR(Cell Loss Rate) in the wireless ATM Networks, which consist of wireless access nodes and wireless links. A wireless access node is modelled as the ND/D/1queue. A wireless channel is modelled as channel with single and burst error characteristics, and it can be seen that the CLR degrades on a link with burst errors than on a link with single error. Because wireless channel can be approximated as the Rayleigh or Rician fading channel and wireless communication systems are power limited, it is customary that the CLR degrades on a link with burst errors than on a link with single error. So error control method should be used to improve performance degradation caused by burst errors. We consider the forward error correction(FEC) as error control scheme for CBR traffics to improve performance degradation caused by burst errors, and analyze performance of concatenated FEC scheme through the use of CLR.
In this paper the numerical methods of finding the optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the optimal fiber dispersion are proposed, which are able to effectively compensate overall channels in $16{\times}40$ Gbps WDM system. And the compensation characteristics in the system with two induced optimal parameters are compared with those in the system with the currently used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) in order to confirm the availability of the proposed methods. It is confirmed that the reception performances are largely improved in the system with the induced optimal parameters than in the system with MSSI through the analyzing the eye opening penalty (EOP) and bit error rate (BER) characteristics. It is also confirmed that two optimal parameters depend on each other, but are less related with the procedural problem about the first optimal value among these.
