Soft Error Rate for High Density DRAM Cell (고집적 DRAM 셀에 대한 소프트 에러율)

  • DRAM에서 셀 캐패시터의 누설 전류 영향을 고려하여 소프트 에러율을 예측하였다. DRAM의 동작 과정에서 누설 전류의 영향으로 셀 캐패시터는 전하량이 감소하고, 이에 따른 소프트 에러율을 DRAM의 각 동작 모드에 대하여 계산하였다. 누설 전류가 작을 경우에는 /bit mode가 소프트 에러에 취약했지만, 누설전류가 커질수록 memory 모드가 소프트 에러에 가장 취약함을 보였다. 실제 256M급 DRAM의 구조에 적용하여, 셀 캐패시턴스, bit line 캐패시턴스, sense amplifier의 입력 전압 감도들이 변화할 때 소프트 에러에 미치는 영향을 예측하였고, 이 결과들은 차세대 DARM 연구의 최적 셀 설계에 이용될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 음성 압축기를 사용하는 디지털 이동통신 환경에서 한글 음성 인식기의 성능을 분석하기 위하여 다양한 표준 음성 압축기를 이용하여 음성 압축기의 구조, 전송률, 전송 채널의 에러율에 대한 성능을 측정하여 비교하였다. 동일한 구조의 음성 압축기에 대하여 전송률의 증가에 따라 음성 인식률이 증가하지만, 음성 압축기의 구조에 따라 동일 전송률에서도 많은 성능 차이가 발생하는 것을 확인하였다. 특히 IS-127 EVRC의 인식 성능이 매우 떨어지는 것을 알 수 있고, EVRC의 잡음 제거기와 가변 전송률에 의하여 음성 인식 성능이 저하되는 것을 확인하였다. 이를 통하여 청취 음질과 음성 인식 성능 사이의 상관 관계가 높지 않는 것을 알 수 있다. 모든 음성 압축기에 대하여 채널 에러율과 음성 인식기의 성능은 매우 밀접한 관계가 있음을 확인하였고, 평균적으로 채널 에러율 $1.0\%$에서 인식률이 $0.6\%$ 감소하고, 에러 $5.0\%$에서 인식률이 $1.8\%$ 감소한다.

Soft Error Rate Simulator for DRAM (DRAM 소프트 에러율 시뮬레이터)

  • A soft error rate (SER) simulator for DRAM was developed. In comparison to the other SER simulator using device simulator or Monte Carlo simulator, the proposed simulator substantially reduced the CPU time using an analytical model for the alpha-particle-induced charge collection. By analysing the soft error modes in DRAM, the bit-bar mode was identified as the main cause of soft error. Using the new SER simulator, SER of 256M DRAM was investigated and it was found that the storage capacitance had a 5fF margin.

  • This paper describes an algorithm for calculating load impedance by measuring voltage and current components using a VI sensor in a 13.56 MHz impedance automatic matching system. We propose an algorithm that improves the error rate by using an arbitrary complex calibration load instead of the conventional $50{\Omega}$ calibration load. The error rate is targeted to attain average values of $R_{IN}$ and $X_{IN}$ at 1% and 20% or less, respectively. First, the IF frequency is calculated using a mixer to reduce the error rate. Second, when the arbitrary complex load is used as the calibration load, the error rate $R_{IN}$ decreased from 4.7 % to 0.3 % on average, and $X_{IN}$ decreased from 102 % to 18.3 % on average.

  • Recently, ultra wideband(UWB) is emerging as a solution for the IEEE 802.15.3a(TG3a) standard because of its potential to enable high-speed data transmission with low power consumption. One of the submitted systems as s PHY proposal is M-ary biorthogonal keying direct sequence ultra wideband(M-BOK DS-UWB). In this paper, adaptive multiple antenna transmission scheme for achieving high capacity and reliability in M-BOK DS-UWB is proposed. This proposed system can overcome the limitations of STBC and V-BLAST, such as bit error rate performance and throughput.

  • A soft error rate for DRAM was predicted in connection with the leakage current in cell capacitor. The charge in cell capacitor was decreased during the DRAM operation, and soft error retes due to the leakage current were calculated in various operation mode of DRAM. It was found that the soft error rate of the /bit mode was dominant with small leakage current, but as increasing the leakage current memory mode shown the dominant effect on soft error rate. Using the 256M grade DRAM structure it was predicted that the soft error rate was influenced by the change of the cell capacitance, bit line capacitance, and the input voltage sensitivity of sense amplifier, and these results can be used to the design of the optimum cells in the next generation DRAM development.

  • In this paper, we induced that the noise powers and bit error rate of direct detection receiver taking account of ISI (intersymbol interference) in the 2,000 km optical transmission system. And we evaluated the sensitivity in the vrious bit rate system. We verified that the proposed calculation method is applicable to the exact optical system. And we confirmed that the signal distortion due to both chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects compensated by using of MSSI (Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) method, and yet the sensitivity of a higher bit rate system is reduced, because of the increase of ISI and then the decrease of the average receiving power, compared with a the lower bit rate system.

  • In this paper, we have presented a real-time transfer mechanism for the delay-sensitive data in WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks). The existing methods for real-time data transfer select a path whose latency is shortest or the number of hops is least. Although the approaches of these methods are acceptable, they do not always work as efficiently as they can because they had no consideration for the link error rates. In the case of transmission failures on links, they can not guarantee the end-to-end real-time transfer due to retransmissions. Therefore, we have proposed an algorithm to select a real-time transfer path in consideration of the link error rates. Our mechanism estimates the 1-hop delay based on the link error rate between two neighboring nodes, which in turn enables the calculation of the expected end-to-end delay. A source node comes to choose a path with the shortest end-to-end delay as a real-time route, and sends data along the path chosen. We performed various experiments changing the link error rates and discovered that this proposed mechanism improves the speed of event-to-sink data transfer and reduces delay jitter. We also found that this mechanism prevents additional energy consumption and prolongs network lifetime, resulting from the elative reduction of transmission failures and retransmissions.

  • We propose two error correcting algorithms for high-density optical storage systems. The first algorithm reduces the false-erasure declaration by reducing the sensitivity on random errors and increases the code rate using a simple erasure indication method. The second one exploits just the known indicator flag instead of error correcting code such as Reed-Solomon(RS) code. The proposed algorithms are superior to the error correcting algorithms of conventional systems such as DVD and BD.

  • To improve drawback of existing modulation method, in this paper, we propose the channel forecast method using adaptive modulation which can improve throughput of channel. This method adaptively changes modulation method to the change of channel environments. In proposed method, channel's characteristics are measured in realtime to determine code rate to the changes of demanded channel's bit error rate. If bit error rate is increased, this method reduce code rate to maintain maximum throughput. We analysis performance of proposed method by Matlab.
