Influences of Parental Pairs on Progeny Sex Ratios of Nile Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus (틸라피아 Oreochromis niloticus의 성비 결정에 미치는 암수어미의 영향)

  • Sex of the Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus is mainly determined by an XX/XY system. However, accumulating evidences suggest the existence of additional sex modifying factors including environmental, autosomal and parental influences. In order to investigate the possibility of parental effects on sex ratios of tilapia progenies, in this study, a series of crosses was carried out using gynogenetic clonal fish, neomales, normal males and females, and YY fish. Crosses between clonal XX male and clonal female have yielded only female progenies and no parental influences were observed. However, in the crosses between clonal males and normal females, female parents were significantly associated with the progeny sex ratios ($X^2$=20.046, 7 d.f., p<0.01). Progeny sex ratios from the crosses between neomales and normal females ($X^2$=60.491, 5 d.f and $X^2$=28.072, 2 d.f.) also showed significant association with female parents (P<0.001). The stability of progeny sex ratios from repeated spawns were confirmed by using 6 different parental pairs. In 16 crosses between normal males and normal females, sex ratios of progenies showed clear maternal influences, and further analysis of the results revealed a negative correlation ($r^2$=0.7718, p<0.05) between the sex ratios of progenies from two different males, indicating a strong paternal influence. No statistically significant relationship between survival rates and sex ratios of progenies was observed in any genotypic groups. Taken together, the influence of parental pairs on progeny sex ratios in this species is evident although the cause of this influence is not clear.

비단가리비 인공종묘 생산

  • 비단가리비의 인공 종묘 생산을 목적으로 전라남도 신안군 대흑산도 주변에 서식하는 비단가리비를 대상으로 인공 종묘 생산을 위한 산란 유발, 수정란의 발생 과정, 유생 사육, 채묘 및 중간 육성 등 양식 생물학적 연구를 실시하였다. 어미의 각종 산란 유발 자극에 대한 반응은 Serotonin 주사, 온도 자극, 혼합 자극에서 반응율이 가장 높았으며, 자외선 조사 해수 자극은 수컷만 반응을 하였고 간출 자극은 반응이 없어 실효성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 수정란의 크기는 $69.5{\mu}m$이었고, 수정 후 약 2시간에 2 세포기, 8시간 후에 8 세포기, 20시간 후에는 담륜자 유생으로 부화하였으며 40시간 후에는 D상 유생으로 되었다. 수온별 비단가리비 유생의 성장은 수온 $20^{\circ}C$에서 각장 $178.9{\mu}m$로 가장 좋았으며, 이 때의 생존율은 15.5%이었다. 그러나 수온 $15^{\circ}C$에서는 낮은 성장을 보여 각장 $135.9{\mu}m$로 성장하였으며, 생존율도 9.8%로 저조하였다. 수용 밀도별 사육 시험에서 $1m{\ell}$당 1개체와 5개체에서 성장 및 생존율이 양호하여 성장 및 생존율을 볼 때 적정 사육 밀도는 $1m{\ell}$당 5개체 이하로 나타났다. 먹이 생물 종류에 따른 유생의 성장을 알기 위하여 I, gal-baba, C, calcitrans, N, oculata를 단독 또는 혼합으로 공급하였을 때 실험 종료후 각장의 성장은 I, galbana+C. calcitrans+N. oculata구가 $194.2{\mu}$로 가장 좋았고 N. oculata구는 $162.2{\mu}m$로 가장 낮은 성장을 보였다. 생존율에서는 I. galbana+C. calcitransoculata구는 9.4%로 가장 낮은 생존율을 보였다. 채묘기별 유생의 부착률은 염화비닐판을 수평으로 놓은 것과 패각이 각각 3.43%와 3.17%로 가장 양호하였으나, 양파망과 염화비닐판을 수직으로 놓은 것은 각각 1.52%와 1.61%로 비교적 저조하였다. 수정 후 40일째부터 90일째까지 측정한 부착치패의 경과 일수에 따른 각장의 성장은 $SL=184.44e^{0.0335X}(r^2=0.9861)$의 회귀직선식으로서 나타났다. 중간육성 시험에서 수심별 성장을 분석한 결과, 비단가리비 치패는 저층보다 표층이 각장 5.92mm, 전중량 6.07g 정도 더 빨리 성장하였다.

Differences in Egg Quality and Larval Development among Four Populations of Sea Squirt Halocynthia roretzi Adults (난질과 유생발생을 이용한 4개 멍게(Halocynthia roretzi) 어미계군 특성 비교)

  • To compare four populations of sea squirt Halocynthia roretzi adults, their egg quality and larval development were investigated in the hatchery. The populations were: south sea wild (SSW), south sea cultured (SSC), east sea wild (ESW) and Iwate Japan cultured (IJC). Egg quality and larval development were compared using 13 factors (fertilization rate and diameter, proximate composition, amino acid and fatty acid contents of eggs, hatching rate and various sizes of tadpole larvae) which were obtained from each population. Fertilized egg diameter, hatching rate and size of tadpole larvae were significantly different among the four populations (P<0.05). Eggs were produced with higher crude protein ($5.20{\pm}0.00%$ SSW, $4.71{\pm}0.01%$ ESW, $4.66{\pm}0.01%$ SSC and $3.96{\pm}0.01%$ IJC) and lipid ($1.22{\pm}0.01%$ ESW, $1.01{\pm}0.00%$ SSW, $0.77{\pm}0.01%$ SSC and $0.69{\pm}0.00%$ IJC,) contents from domestic wild populations than from Japanese or cultured populations. Also amino acid and fatty acid contents were different. The extent of similarity between domestic and Japanese populations (30.5% IJC:SSW, 34.3% IJC:SSC and 40.7% IJC:ESW) was relatively low but was very high between SSW and SSC (73.9%). These results may have been due to differences in the abundance of food types and environmental conditions in the four localities and consequent differences in the diets of the sea squirts.

Japanese-Korean Machine Translation System Using Connection Forms of Neighboring Words (인접 단어들의 접속정보를 이용한 일한 기계번역 시스템)

  • There are many syntactic similarities between Japanese and Korean languages. Using these similarities, we can make out the Japanese-Korean translation system without most of syntactic analysis and semantic analysis. To improve the translation rates greatly, we have been developing the Japanese-Korean translation system using these similarities from several years ago. However, the system remains some problems such as a translation of inflected words, processing of multi-translatable words and so on. In this paper, we suggest the new method of Japanese-Korean translation by using relations of two neighboring words. To solve the problems, we investigated the connection rules of auxiliary verbs priority. And we design the translation table which is consists of entry tables and connection forms tables. A case of only one translation word, we can translate a Korean to Japanese by direct matching method use of only entry table, otherwise we have to evaluate the connection value by connection forms tables and then we can select the best translation word.

Aesthetic image according to the change in the hip circumference and crotch length ease of baggy pants (배기팬츠의 엉덩이둘레 여유분과 밑위길이 여유분 변화에 따른 미적 이미지)

  • The purpose of this study is to define the detailed factors related to expressing the aesthetic image of various baggy pants with changes to the hip circumference and crotch length ease. For this, detailed factors expressing the aesthetic image of baggy pants were deduced, and the aesthetic image and mutual influence according to the change in the hip circumference and crotch length ease were analyzed. Nine baggy pants with different levels of hip circumference and crotch length ease were produced as experimental pants. The image of each pair of experimental baggy pants was evaluated based on pictures taken of the pants worn by a woman in her 20s with a standard body figure. The image assessment team was composed of 105 clothing majors. The research results are as follows. Three aesthetic image factors of baggy pants were extracted: attractiveness, elegance and activity. When there was not much ease in the hip circumference and crotch length of the baggy pants, it appeared to look more attractive, younger and fashionable. A dignified and feminine image was perceived more when there was less ease in the hip circumference regardless of the crotch length. Because there was less ease in the hip circumference and crotch length, it appeared to be more comfortable, active and soft. These research results show that baggy pants with too much ease in the hip circumference or crotch length are perceived to be less attractive and actually as inactive. As seen here, there is a difference in the aesthetic image according to the change in the hip circumference and crotch length of the baggy pants; therefore, baggy pants which suits a person's own body type can be chosen to enhance the preferred aesthetic image of individuals.

  • Internet users purchase goods on the Internet and express their positive or negative emotions of the goods in product reviews. Analysis of the product reviews become critical data to both potential consumers and to the decision making of enterprises. Therefore, the importance of opinion mining techniques which derive opinions by analyzing meaningful data from large numbers of Internet reviews. Existing studies were mostly based on comments written in English, yet analysis in Korean has not actively been done. Unlike English, Korean has characteristics of complex adjectives and suffixes. Existing studies did not consider the characteristics of the Internet language. This study proposes an emotional classification method which increases the accuracy of emotional classification by analyzing the characteristics of the Internet language connoting feelings. We can classify positive and negative comments about products automatically using the Internet emoticon. Also we can check the validity of the proposed algorithm through the result of high precision, recall and coverage for the evaluation of this method.

Studying the frequencies of sentence pattern for a entence patterns dictionary (문형 사전을 위한 문형 빈도 조사)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the frequency and usage of sentence patterns appearing in electronic dictionaries used in Korean language education in order to design an automatic sentence patterns checking. First, the concept of sentence patterns is defined and it is classified into sentence structure patterns and sentencial expression patterns. Sentence structure patterns and sentencial expression patterns are analyzed how they are expressed in the Korean Learner's Corpus. learner's Corpus is built into the Standard Corpus, which all Korean Learners must learn, and the Errors Corpus made by learners. From these research, we will find out how frequently the Sentential Patterns are being used in the Standard Corpus which has been made of Korean Texts and how the Sentential Pattern are being used in the Errors Corpus which were constructed from Korean learner's writings. Finally, having described the Sentential Patterns on the Sentential Electric Dictionary, we determine the optimum speed in the search for the Sentential Pattern.

Torso shape study of older women considering the senior shift (시니어 시프트를 고려한 고령 여성의 체간부 체형 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of older women's torso shapes. The data was collected from the 7th Size Korea, which featured 453 women between the ages of 70-85. A factor analysis was performed of 31 indices, including seventeen based on height and length measurements, eight based on circumference measurements, and six based on torso flattening. The torso shape was determined from seven factors: torso flatness ratio, shape of the side upper torso, vertical size of upper torso, silhouette of the torso, silhouette of the bust and abdomen, shape of the hip, and the vertical size of the back of upper torso. The torso shapes of older women were classified into three types based on the results of the factor analysis. Type 1 is called the large rectangle type. They have the lowest degree of forward bend in the torso, the largest vertical and horizontal size, a round body shape, and the upper torso is gently curved. Type 2 is called the inverted triangle type. They also have a round body shape, but the abdominal size is relatively small compared to the size of the bust, and also have an open and drooping bust, and the biggest degree of forward bend in the torso. Type 3 is called the square type. They are characterized by drooping hips, the smallest vertical and horizontal sizes, and the gentlest curve of the torso.

Ecology and Early Life History of Endangered Freshwater Fish, Pseudobagrus brevicorpus (Pisces: Bagridae) (꼬치동자개(Pseudobagrus brevicorpus)의 생태와 초기 생활사)

  • Some of ecological factors and the early life history of endangered freshwater fish, Pseusobagrus brevicorpus, were investigated to proliferate artificially and to restore the population by release seedlings. The density of population in restricted area by small scale dam was 1.25 ind. $m^{-2}$, and the low capacity for reproduction having 200$\sim$250 eggs ind$^{-1}$. were thought to be a reason of this endangered situation. From the result of induction of natural spawning in aquarium after hormone injection it was considered that the spawning substrate would be aquatic plants with slender branches. The hatching was observed after 50 hrs after fertilization and the larvae showed aggressive behavior. Yolk was almost absorbed 3 days after hatching, and the larvae shaped tad-pole grew up to fry after 30 days. We discussed on the strategies for conservation of this species according to those results from investigation on ecology and early life history.

Effects of honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) venom on the reproductive efficiency of dams and the growth performance, disease occurrence of Hanwoo calves (붕독 처리가 어미소의 번식효율과 송아지의 증체, 질병발생에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate effects of bee venom (Apis mellifera L.) on the calving, reproductive efficiency of Hanwoo dams and the growth performance and disease occurrence of calves. Eighty seven experimental dams were allocated into two groups, bee venom treated (n=53, BV) and non-treated (n=34, control) of Hanwoo dams in Icheon, Kyonggi province. Calving period ($14.08{\pm}4.8$) and percentages of retained placenta (7.5%) in BV was shortened compared to control ($17.2{\pm}4.3$, 14.7%, respectively. P>0.05). Post-placenta periods was similar between two groups (P>0.05). Postpartum days ($36.5{\pm}4.3$) to first estrus and calving interval ($358{\pm}18$) were shortened compared to control ($40.2{\pm}5.2$, $375{\pm}23$, respectively) but have not significantly affected (P>0.05). Body weights ($43.5{\pm}3.0$) and average daily gains (0.62) of calves before 30 days old in BV were significantly higher than control ($40.3{\pm}5.3$, 0.52, respectively). The occurrence of respiratory disease and diarrhea in BV was relatively lower compared with Control. The present results indicate that bee venom may affect reproductive efficiency of dams and growth performance of calves.
