This paper identifies some natural habits and patterns of children's and adolescents' information seeking and use by drawing a wide range of studies conducted with children and adolescents as study participants. The patterns reported here indicate that children's and adolescents' information seeking and use are affected by the nature of information tasks, the qualities of access tools, their cognitive ability to seek and use information, and their prior knowledge and experience about the tasks and topics given. The findings should provide insights for identifying future research issues as well as for programming the information environments particularly conducive to learning.

어린이가 위험에 노출된 경우 그 안전을 확보하기 위해 어린이 안전에 관한 「어린이안전관리에 관한 법률」이 제정되었다. 이에 어린이이용시설종사자는 행정안전부에서 지정하는 어린이 안전교육 전문기관에서 이론 및 실습 교육을 매년 이수하여야 한다. 한국어린이안전재단은 어린이 안전교육 전문인력 및 시설을 확보하여 어린이 안전교육 전문기관으로 지정되었다. 이에 효과적인 안전교육을 제공하기 위한 운영방안에 대해 논의하고 대응한다.

This study intends to provide the essential data for developing kid's catalog in Korean public libraries. Focus was on the experience and perception of librarians who have provided a service for the children. To the end, this study investigated the children's information behavior and search behavior of OPAC from the viewpoint of librarians, and figured out what barriers are confronted when children are looking for reading materials. On the basis of data, discussed in details are practical considerations for kid's catalogs to improve the information access of children. The data were collected through a survey and depth interview with 29 librarians in public libraries, and referred to the existing OPAC for the discussion.

Recently, children's internet search engines are becoming the main method to access information. For those engines to function properly, search behavior of children as their searchers should be studied and the findings be applied to design and improve the systems. So an experiment was conducted and 22 3rd-grade elementary school students performed 3 searching tasks through 'Junior Naver' and 'Yahoo!꾸러기' which are representative children's search engines in Korea. Children's searching behavior was analyzed thoroughly through which the problems of children's search engines were diagnosed and recommendations were suggested to improve them.

어린이 도서관은 일상생활 가까이에서 지역주민에게 지식정보 서비스를 제공할 뿐 아니라 공공도서관과의 연계를 통해 우리나라 전체 도서관 서비스의 수준을 발전시키고자 하는 생활 친화적 문화기반 시설인 소규모 도서관(혹은 문고)시설이다. 즉 어린이 도서관은 접근성을 가장 큰 장점으로 하여 누구나 쉽고 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 고객중심의 공공도서관 서비스라고 할 수 있다. 어린이 도서관의 주 이용고객은 어린이와 주부로서 최근 이들이 함께 도서관을 이용하는 빈도가 증가하면서 어린이 도서관은 단순히 책을 빌리고 공부를 하는 장소에서 나아가 가족단위의 여가활동이 가능한 문화적 공간으로 변모하여가고 있다. 어린이 도서관은 기본적으로 책을 읽는 조용한 공간이지만 주 이용자가 6세 미만의 유아와 초등학교 저학년 어린이이기에 독서행위와 더불어 또래 친구들과의 친교행위. 부모님과의 정서적 유대감 형성행위, 소규모 근육활동과 같은 놀이행위가 병행된다. 또 어린이 도서관에서 사용되어지는 정형적인 모듈의 서가를 비롯한 입식. 좌식 테이블과 의자들은 소수의 디자이너에 의해 만들어진 것이지만 그것을 이용하는 다수의 어린이들은 디자이너의 의도와 방법에 따라 가구를 사용하는 것 외에도 환경적 컨텍스트에 맞추어 가구의 새로운 쓰임을 발견하며 훨씬 더 다채로운 방법으로 가구를 사용하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 독서 및 놀이 행위 시 아동-부모의 상호작용 방법에 기반하여 아동의 가구사용방법(Way of Seat)을 알아보고 이를 바탕으로 어린이의 행태정보를 모델링하여 가구를 사용하는 어린이의 다양한 행위 이면에 내재된 요구를 파악하는데 있다. 가구를 사용하는 어린이의 다양한 행태 이면에 내재한 어린이만의 특성과 요구를 알아보기 위해서는 먼저 어린이 도서관이라는 특수한 물리적 환경요인 및 사용자 컨텍스트(Context)에 대한 이해가 선행되어야 한다. 이를 위해 기반조사 및 어린이 도서관 방문을 통한 정황조사(Contextual Inquiry)를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 6세 미만의 유아와 초등학생의 가구사용방법(Way of Seat)과 독서 및 놀이 행위 시 행태를 관찰하여 Photo Based Research를 바탕으로 어린이의 행태정보를 모델링 하였다.

The main Points of the 7th Education Program are: taking a serious view of development of children's individuality and creativity, and encouragement students their accord activity with applying digital reference for teaching and learning. The purpose is : providing foundation of active Information service and suggestion of revitalization method by means of analyzing operation and effective using children's library digital material room at Nowon Children's Library opened 2nd February, 2003. In 2nd chapter; thesis of conceptive model of children's library digital material room. In 3rd Chapter: Present status analysis of N. W. Children's library digital material room operation, and analysis of using and demand of public school 100 pupils. In 4th Chapter : Suggesting conclusion of revitalization of children's library digital material room based on utilization and demand appeared through this study.

With wide spread of smart devices, the use of children's smart devices were increased. We have performed an exploratory study about children's use of smart devices in the viewpoint of lives of children. The children was encouraged on the school centered learning by their parents. In this study, we wanted to explore the state of life of children's using of smart devices in the view of the children's life at the age of information society. The results show that there was a difference in children's using of smart devices between big and small city. This research shows that the students have the lack of the experiences of learning of desired usages and learning with devices. In the play with the non-electronic media, outside play was more than indoor play. Half of the answers at the amount of time to play the game and to watch the TV were "within an 1 hour". We know that the proportion of children's indoor play portion is more than outdoor play of it.

국내 인터넷 활용인구의 증가와 함께 연령층의 확대로 초등학생 인터넷 이용률은 날로 높아지고 있다. 어린이들에게 인터넷은 이미 친숙한 매체이며, 효과적인 학습도구로 활용되고 있다. 아이콘은 사용자가 클릭을 통해 다른 곳으로 이동할 수 있도록 방향성을 제시하는 navigator 역할로 사용자들의 행동을 유도하는 기능을 가지고 있다. 어린이를 주 이용 대상으로 하고 있는 어린이 포털 사이트의 경우 아이콘의 기능은 무엇보다 중요하다. 그러므로 아이콘을 지각하는 어린이의 감성을 파악하는 것은 필수적인 과정이다. 따라서 이러한 어린이 포털 사이트의 아이콘을 제작함에 있어, 사이트 방문자인 어린이의 감성을 조사하여 효과적인 아이콘 설계 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여, 이용자 접속률이 높은 세 개의 국내 어린이 포털 사이트의 아이콘 샘플을 추출하고 이를 서울지역 초등학생을 대상으로 선호 이미지 형용사를 조사하였다. 이는 향후 어린이를 대상으로 한 다양한 서비스에 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study is identify factors influenced of children's library use and management through investigating the use patterns and recognition of children's parents on children's libraries. Questionnaire was used as a research method. Data was collected from the parents who entered library entrance with their child and children on four public libraries. Six factors were identified from four public libraries setting. There were the spatial planning based upon library use patterns, the flexibility and mobile furnishings, the activity area for causing children's Interesting, the guarantee of safety Place for children, the quiet area for emotional stability, and functional place for moving around.

The purposes of this study are to investigate the perception and use of e-books by librarians and children and to suggest important elements to improve e-book services at the children's libraries. User survey questionaries and interviews from fifty five librarians and thirty children were carried for the perceptions and the use of e-books at five children's libraries. Based upon the data analysis from two groups, three important elements for improving e-book services of the libraries were suggested as follows: providing enough e-book contents, facilities and spaces, developing e-book user education programs with proactive pubic relations, and providing professional continuing education programs regarding e-books to librarians.
