Numerical Simulation for Estimating Fish Shelter at the Downstream of Gumi Weir (수리구조물 하류에서 어류의 피난처 해석을 위한 수치모의 (구미보를 중심으로))

  • This study analyzes characteristics of flow using 3 dimensional numerical model, Delft3D, at the downstream of hydraulic structure. And fish shelters are suggested by analyzing them in flood time. A hydraulic structure changes flow conveyance, water depth and velocity affecting the activity of the fish. Flow depth decreases and velocity is fast near the left bank at the downstream of Gumi weir because of the concentration of flow due to it. Therefore, fish shelters are generated near the right bank of it. As a result of vertical velocity distribution which indicates the range of fish activity, maximum value are 0.0043 m/s in 30-year of return period of flood 0.0052 m/s in 50 year flood, 0.0046 m/s in 80-year of return period of flood, and 0.0039 m/s in 100-year of return period of flood. As the discharge increases, the areas of fish shelters decreases because depth and turbulent energy increase according to increases discharge. The estimated areas of fish shelters near the right bank decrease from 61.5% in 30-year of return period of flood to 39.0% 100-year of return period of flood. Therefore, the constructed hydraulic structures affect fish shelters.

An Experimental Approach to Secure Freshwater Fish Shelter according to the Water Level Fluctuations in a Shallow Pond (얕은 연못에서 수위변동에 따른 담수 어류 피난처 확보를 위한 실험적 접근)

  • Physical disturbance, which induces a lack of flow rate, frequently occurs in freshwater ecosystem. Due to this, it is required to provide a new fish shelter to resolve. We installed a pilot scale test-bed to scrutinize the relationship between water level and the influence of fish shelter. The proposed ADP (artificial deep pool) is a fish shelter which composed of concrete materials. From the monitoring results in test-bed, it was observed that the population of fish was the highest at the 0.5 m in depth from the water level of experimental pond. But it was more appropriate for shallow water level (<0.3 m) to conserve the total number of fish by increasing the number per unit area despite of lower inner temperature and DO than outer environment. Therefore, inner of ADP was more efficient lentic system for fish to live due to higher WCS, OS, SS, and TS. In addition, there was a relative abundance of WCS fish species such as Acheilognathus koreensis (A. koreensis), Carassius carassius (C. carassius). Considered these results, it is suggested that ADP is appropriate to use for fish shelter and habitat for the fishes in lentic ecosystem.

A Study on Development of Freshwater Fish Shelter and Evaluation of Water Quality for the Reduction of Thermal Stress in Shallow Pond (얕은 연못에서 담수 어류의 열성 스트레스 저감을 위한 피난처 개발 및 수질환경 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study evaluates the water quality of artificial deep pool (ADP) during the late spring and summer. we monitored the water quality, as pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature and conductivity at two stations (St. 1. open water, St. 2. in the ADP). The water quality in the ADP is very stable, and temperature and DO are lower than the open water (average value; temperature $1.4{\sim}3.2^{\circ}C$, DO 2.4~3.6 mg/L). In particular, daily variation of temperature in the open water showed above $4^{\circ}C$, but ADP remained stable. The water quality was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of the analysis showed difference about temperature, pH, DO, conductivity (two-way ANOVA, p<0.05). The ADP has created an aqua environment in thermal and DO gradients by depth. About 1.2 m, Temperature and DO were sharply decreased. The Rhodeus uyekii is dominant species in pond of this study. The ADP offers optimum water temperature ($16.5{\sim}18.5^{\circ}C$) to the Rhodeus uyekii about spawning. Consequently, the ADP offers stable habitat than open water for fish and aquatic organisms during the summer. It is also a good shelter for fish from a thermal stress.

Three Dimensional Numerical Simulation of Flows around Spur-Dike (3차원 수치모형을 이용한 수제주변 흐름의 수치모의)

  • 수제는 하천 흐름을 적극적으로 제어하여 수심을 유지하고, 소류력을 증가시키는 한편 수세를 줄여 토사의 침전을 유포하고자 하는 하천 시설물이다. 수제에 의한 역흐름장(diverse flow fields) 혹은 수제역 (spur-dike zone)의 형성은 다양한 수중생물의 서식환경을 조성하거나 홍수 시 어류의 피난처로 사용될 수 있기 때문에 최근 중시되고 있는 자연형 하천 공법에 수제가 도입되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 3차원 수치모형을 이용하여 수제주변 흐름을 수치모의 하여 Rajaratnam과 Nwachukwu (1983)의 수리실험 자료 및 Tingsanchali와 Maheswaran (1990)의 2차원 수치모의 결과와 비교하였다. 수치모의 결과 이차흐름과 역방향 흐름이 크게 나타나는 수제 안쪽 및 제방과 가까운 지점에서는 수치모의 자료와 실험자료가 잘 일치하지 않는 결과를 보였으면, 이러한 지점을 제외한 다른 지점에서는 실험자료와 유사한 결과를 나타내고 있음을 확인하였다. 단일 수제에 의한 재순환영역 (recirculation zone)은 수제길이의 약 10배 지점인 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 기존의 연구결과와 유사하였다. 또한 수제 뒤편에 형성되는 와의 중심이 수면에 가까운 지점일수록 뒤로 이동하는 것을 확인하였다. 이는 Tominaga 등 (2001)의 실험결과와 유사한 것으로서 수심에 비례하여 수제 뒷부분에 형성되는 와의 크기가 커지는 것을 파악하였다.

An Experimental Study on Scour at V-shaped Riffle (V형 여울에서 발생하는 세굴에 관한 실험 연구)

  • A V-shaped riffle is an artificial hydraulic structure haying two wings from the streamside with a narrow opening in between. It is usually made of crushed stones or large boulders. It limits channel width and accelerates the flow through the constricted section causing a local scour just downstream. The V-shaped riffle provides with a unique aquatic habitat by forming a pool and sandbars around the pool edge, increasing local morphologic, hydraulic and sedimentological diversity. This study investigates experimentally the scour characteristics of the V-shaped riffle in the sandbed stream and proposes a predictive equation for the scour. Total 45 cases of experiments were conducted to examine the effect of hydraulic factors and configuration of V-shaped riffle on the geometry of scour holes. From the comparison of the experimental results of this study with the predictive equation of spur dike by Breusers and Raudkivi(1991), it is found that their predictive equation of spur dike underestimates the maximum scour depth downstream of the V-shaped riffle. h new predictive equation for the maximum scour depth was developed using the non-dimensional hydraulic and geometrical variables. The parameters used in the proposed equations were determined using the experimental data. The analysis reveals that the scour depth is dependent dominantly on the Froude number at the opening of the V-shaped riffle, while the angle of riffle and the opening width also affect the scour depth. The proposed equation for the scour of V-shaped riffle well agrees with the experimental data. It can be used for estimating the scour of the V-shaped riffle in sandbed streams.

Evaluation of Habitat Improvement Using Two-Dimensional Fish Habitat Modeling after the Connectivity Restoration in an Isolated Former Channel (2차원 어류 서식처 모의를 이용한 격리된 구하도의 연결성 복원에 따른 서식지 개선 평가)

  • Lateral connectivity between a main channel and a former channel plays an integral role in maintaining ecological functions of stream-floodplain ecosystems. This study virtually restored the connectivity of the former channel, which is currently isolated by channelization, in the Mangyeong River, Korea. Fish habitat improvement after the connectivity restoration was evaluated using River2D, two-dimensional depth-averaged hydraulic modeling, depending on normal and flood flow conditions. Target fish species were crucian carp (Carassius auratus), which are known as lentic species, and pale chub (Zacco platypus), known as lotic species. The weighted usable area (WUA) of the two species was increased after the connectivity restoration: the two-way connection between the main and formal channels was more effective than the one-way connection. The result of the physical habitat simulation at a flood flow condition demonstrated an increased rate of the WUA than during a normal flow condition. In particular, the WUA of pale chub increased about four times on the two-way connectivity restoration. This result suggests that habitat availability of both lentic and lotic fish species will increase after a connectivity restoration, and a two-way connectivity restoration may be more effective. In addition, the restored formal channel would function as a shelter for fish during the flood season.

  • 국내에서의 수제는 하안 및 제방의 보호, 유로제어 및 주운 등의 목적에 의해 설치되기 보다는 수제로 인해 발생되는 수제역(recirculation zone)의 다양한 흐름이 수중생물의 다양한 서식처 및 홍수 시 어류의 피난처 제공한다는 환경적인 목적이 지배적이다. 따라서 홍수시 하천의 통수능 감소영향이 상대적으로 작고 국부세굴에 대해 안정적인 경사형 수제에 대한 관심이 크며 몇몇 곳에서는 시공되어 졌다. 하지만 경사수제에 대한 설계기법은 현재 미미한 상태이며 선행되어져야할 구조물 주변의 흐름해석에 관한 연구도 미미하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 3차원 수치모형을 적용하여 주수로와 수제역의 흐름해석을 수행하였다. 연구내용은 수리모형변화와 수치모형실험을 병행하여 수행하여 수치모형결과를 검증하였으며 그 결과를 적용하여 경사형 수제주변의 흐름을 해석하였다. 수치모형은 Flow 3D모형을 이용하여 경사형 수제조건에 따른 흐름해석을 수행하였고 수리모형실험은 수치모형과 동일한 2가지 조건에 대해 수행하여 수치모형결과와 비교 분석 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 경사형 수제설치로 변화되는 수제역 흐름을 3D 수치해석으로 분석하여 수제역의 환경적 효과(수중생물의 서식처 등)에 대한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 연구결과, 수치모형실험은 수리모형결과와 일치하였으며 경사형 수제특성에 따라 수심별 흐름변화를 분석할 수 있었으며 기존 불투과 및 투과수제와 다른 결과를 도출하였다.

Ecological Guidelines for Creation of Eco-washland (생태 천변저류지의 생태학적 조성계획기준)

  • An eco-washland is increasingly getting attentions as a new alternative plan for management of water resources because of role as flooding control and ecological park without social and ecological side effects. However, there is a lack of study regarding technological development and ecological guidelines to create eco-washland. This study was carried out to suggest ecological guidelines necessary for engineering process to create eco-washland. A study site was the lower reach of Seokjang stream connecting to Yimjin river, a candidate of new eco-washland, and Kumsa area in Namhan river was selected as a reference site. The analysis of ecological characteristics focused on vegetation, fishes, and birds. Major vegetation communities, composed of dominant species such as Salix koreensis, Salix gracylistyla, Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Phragmites communis, etc., formed physical conditions along with other land uses including open water, sandbar, cultivated land, etc. Dominant species of fishes were some species belonging to Cyprinidae and Acheilognathinae, and in case of birds Anser albifrons, Anas platyrhychos, Anas poecilorhyncha belonging to waterbirds and Paradoxornis webbinanus dependent to forest edge were dominantly distributed. The results showed that complex wetland types associated with partially deep water and upland was the optimal eco-hydrological condition of washland. Cyprinidae and Acheilognathinae in case of fish and Egretta spp. (spring season) and Anas spp. (winter season) in case of bird were selected as target species for the these wetland types. Finally, a detail planning criteria to create habitats of these target species were discussed in terms of spawning, breeding, feeding, resting, refuge, nesting, etc.

An Experimental Study on Scout Area around Groynes with Permeability and Install Angle (투과율과 설치각도에 대한 수제주변 세굴영역에 관한 실험 연구)

  • There has been debated on the fact that a scour hole produced by the construction of a groyne has environmental benefits such as provision of diverse underwater habitats and shelter for fish in the event of flooding. Therefore researches are focusing on the scour field around the groyne area beyond the existing safety issues. The scour area on aquatic habitats would format many form on groyne conditions so that the analysis of scour area is strongly required. This study conducted the experiments on permeability and installation angle of groyne and suggested the data for groyne selection in environmental point as analyzing scour area. The physical modeling was performed in different permeability (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%) and installation angle of groyne ($60^{\circ},\;90^{\circ},\;120^{\circ}$). As the result of the study, scour area and scour depth at maximum scour condition was revealed for each case and suggested the differences according to experiment conditions.

Study on Topographical Changes by Frame of Wooden Groyne at the Riparian of the Pyungchang River (유도틀 설치에 따른 평창강 수변의 지형변화 연구)

  • 최근 치수의 기능을 수행하면서 원래 자연하천의 모습을 보전 혹은 복원하는 "생태하천 복원 공법"의 필요성이 대두되고 있으나 구체적인 공법에 대한 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 하천 내 시설물의 조성 시 유황에 따른 자연 하안 유도와 습지형태의 생물 서식공간 조성 유무를 평가하기 위하여 평창강 일원에 목재 유도틀을 설치하고 이에 따른 지형변화, 저서무척추동물을 포함한 수생생물들의 서식특성을 분석하였다. 평창강 금당계곡 일원을 대상으로 RMA-2 모형의 범용프로그램인 SMS 모형을 통해 수리 특성분석을 실시하였고 안산에 있는 수리모형 실험장에서 기본 수리특성 실험 후 수리적 안정성이 확보된 지점에 목재 유도틀을 2009년 9월에 설치하여 유도틀 설치 전과 설치 후 2010년 10월까지의 지형변화를 분석하였다. 지형의 측량은 광파측정기(니콘 DTM-520)로 하였으며 측량된 자료를 이용하여 Contour Map을 작성하여 지형변화를 분석하였고, 유도틀 설치지역을 중심으로 2010년에 3차에 걸쳐 지형 및 생물상 변화에 대한 정량 및 정성조사를 실시하여 비교분석 하였다. 유도틀 설치 후 2010년 하절기에 집중호우에 의한 유도틀의 파손 및 형태변형 등 문제가 없어 수리적으로 안정한 것으로 판단되었다. 지형 변화의 측면에서는 유도틀 조성 전 사질로 되어있던 단순한 선형의 하안이 유도틀 설치 후 다양한 하상재질 및 형태가 변화했으며 유도틀의 배치에 따라서 굼치 및 둠벙형 습지가 형성되었다. 유도틀 설치지역의 3개지점(상부, 중간배후습지, 하부)에서 저서무척추동물에 대하여 모니터링한 결과, 설치된 유도틀의 중간지점에서 가장 높게 종의 서식이 확인되었으며 상부지점과 하부지점은 상대적으로 낮게 나왔으나 상부지점 보다는 하부지점이 양호하게 나타났다. 조사시기별 개체수의 변화에서는 종수변화와 패턴이 유사하게 나타났으며 깔다구와 꼬마줄날도래등 특정종의 증식이 많았다. 또한, 굼치 및 둠벙형 습지 내에 어류의 치어 및 유어, 양서류, 파충류등 다양한 생물의 서식이 확인되었다. 이는 유도틀에 의해 생성 및 유도된 지형변화가 하천을 기반으로 생활하는 생물들에게 다양한 피난처 및 은신처 역할을 잘 제공하고 있음을 보여준다.
