  • The fifty percent effective concentration (EC50) and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of iprodione on the resistant isolates of Alternaria mali obtained from infected leaves in Kyeongsan region ranged $550\~1,310{\mu}g/ml$ and $33,800-39,800{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. Conidia germination of the resistant isolates reached $70\%$ on PSA added with iprodione, $500{\mu}g/ml$ When treated with $500{\mu}g/ml$ iprodione soon after the inoculation the diameters of lesions on apple fruits 7days after inoculation with the resistant isolates were 1.6-14.6mm but no lesions appeared on those inoculated with the sensitive isolates. A similar trend of responses with the sensitive isolates was shown to benomyl, chlorothalonil, garbenda, thiophanatemethyl and triademefon with the resistant isolates. One isolate among the resistant ones was cross resistance to captan and folpet that were effective to the sensitive isolates.

  • Molecular Nuclear Neuro-Imaging in "CNS" drug discovery and development tan be divided into four categories that are clearly inter-related.(1) Neuroreceptor mapping to examine the involvement of specific neurotransmitter system in CNS diseases, drug occupancy characteristics and perhaps examine mechanisms of action;(2) Structural and spectroscopic imaging to examine morphological changes and their consequences;(3) Metabolic mapping to provide evidence of central activity and "CNS fingerprinting" the neuroanatomy of drug effects;(4) Functional mapping to examing disease-drug interactions. In addition, targeted delivery of therapeutic agents could be achieved by modifying stem cells to release specific drugs at the site of transplantation('stem cell pharmacology'). Future exploitation of stem cell biology, including enhanced release of therapeutic factors through genetic stem cell engineering, might thus constitute promising pharmaceutical approaches to treating diseases of the nervous system. With continued improvements in instrumentation, identification of better imaging probes by innovative chemistry, molecular nuclear neuro-imaging promise to play increasingly important roles in disease diagnosis and therapy.

  • Multiple bone metastases are common manifestation of many malignant tumors such as lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma. Bone metastasis is secondary cancer in the bone, and it can lead to bone pain, fracture, and instability of the weight bearing bones, all of which may profoundly reduce physical activity and life quality. Treatment for bone metastasis is determined by multiple factors including pathology, performance status, involved site, and neurologic status. Treatment strategies for bone metastasis are analgesics, surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. External beam radiotherapy has traditionally been an effective palliative treatment for localized painful bone metastasis. However, in some cases such as multiple bone metastases, especially osteoblastic bone metastasis originated from breast or prostate cancer, the radiopharmaceutical therapy using $^{89}Sr$, $^{186}Re$, $^{188}Re$, $^{153}Sm$ and $^{117m}Sn$ are also useful treatment option because of administrative simplicity (injection), few side effects, low risk of radiation exposure and high response rate. This article offers a concise explanation of the radiopharmaceutical therapy for multiple bone metastases.

  • In discharge printing of cotton fabrics dyed with C.I. Reactive Orange 16(O-16), C.I. Reactive Blue 19(B-19) and C.I. Reactive Black 5(Bl-5), when the dyes were discharged by some chemicals, such as $K_{2}CO_{3}$, BASB, DSR, sarcosine and GSB, the single use of those chemicals made a very poor discharge, but mixing them with $K_{2}CO_{3}$ resulted to the outstanding improvement of discharge. Especially the dischargeability of $K_{2}CO_{3}$ BASB or $K_{2}CO_{3}$+DSR was very gratifying. For O―16, $K_{2}CO_{3}$+ DSR was slightly more effective than $K_{2}$CO$_{3}$+BASB, but for B―19 and Bl―5 $K_{2}CO_{3}$+BASB and $K_{2}CO_{3}$+DSR showed similar good results. In discharging of O―16 and B―19 by $K_{2}CO_{3}$+BASB or $K_{2}CO_{3}$ +DSR, the dischargeabilities of them increased as the time of 102$^{\circ}C$ steaming increased under the condition of 102$^{\circ}C$ steaming and no baking, but not under the condition of 102$^{\circ}C$ steaming and 16$0^{\circ}C$ baking. However for Bl-5, without regard to baking, the 102$^{\circ}C$ steaming of more than 15 minutes caused the discharge to be much more remarkable than that of 8 minutes did. Generally baking elevated the dischargeability, and this was sure in discharging by $K_{2}CO_{3}$+BASB or $K_{2}CO_{3}$+DSR. And it was confirmed that the structure of vinylsulfonyl reactive dyes could effect on the dischargeability because the three dyes, though little, showed different discharge behaviors.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of plant growth retardants (daminozide, chlormequat, hexaconazole, uniconazole, paclobutrazole) and fungicides of triazole chemical (microbutanil, difenoconazole, terbuconazole, bitertanol) on the rooting of 'New Guinea' impatiens cuttings. In both 'Papete' and 'Anguilla', the formation of adventitious roots was promoted by all concentrations of chlormequat, hexaconazole, uniconazole, and paclobutrazole treated. More adventitious roots were formed with hexaconazole, uniconazole, and paclobutrazole than with chlormequat. Length of the longest root and rooting zone decreased at higher concentrations of chlormequat, hexaconazole, uniconazole, and paclobutrazole in 'Papete', while 'Anguilla' showed less responses. In contrast with plant growth retardants, the formation of adventitious roots was remarkably promoted by fungicides of triazole chemical such as microbutanil, difenoconazole, terbuconazole, and bitertanol in 'Pepete' and 'Martinique' impatiens, but was not in 'Pagopago'. However, length of the longest root and rooting zone showed more sensitive response in 'Martinique' and 'Pagopago' than in 'Pepete'. These results suggest that fungicides of triazole chemical can be effectively used for rooting promotion of impatiens cuttings.

  • Maintaining the water level at 5cm depth showed less decreasing in number of tiller and dry weight as compared to 1 and 3cm depths when Bensulfuron and Pretilachlor were applied. The drainage more than 5cm as water level everyday caused the growth inhibition when Bensulfuron and Pretilachlor were used, while Dimepiperate was rather safe.

  • Fire extinguishing systems are essential equipment in all indoor facilities to address unexpected fire scenarios, and appropriate fire extinguishing agent should be used depending on the place and object to protect. Among these, gaseous fire-extinguishing systems are used to protect electronic equipment. Therefore, inert gases that do not undergo chemical reactions are used mainly in those systems. On the other hand, recently, owing to the high integration of electronic equipment, there are some cases, in which large noise generated from gaseous systems damage the electronic equipment. In this study, numerical analysis of the discharge noise with various nozzle contraction angles was carried out to improve the gas fire extinguishing system. Numerical analysis was carried out using ANSYS FLUENT ver 18.1. The causes of the noise were elucidated using the swirl distribution. The noise level of the modified model was reduced by approximately 6 dB compared to the reference model, which is similar to the result of a previous study, confirming the validity of the method.

  • Experiments were carried out to determine the effectiveness of a new systemic fungicide EL-291 (5-Methyl-1, 2,4-triazolo (3,4-b) benzothiazole) for the control of rice blast disease in greenhouse and paddy field. The efficiency of EL-291 was much greater when applied before inoculation than when applied after inoculation. Kasugamin and Benlate were most effective as eradicants. For control of leaf blast, effectiveness of EL-291 was not significantly different than either Kasugamin or Benlate. However, EL-291 was considered more economical and reliable than either Kasugamin or Benlate. EL-291 required only a single foliar application or a transplant root soak, whereas two applications of the other fungicides were required. EL-191 was also more effective against panicle blast when applied only once, compared with two applications of Kasugamin or Benlate. The highest riceyields were obtained in plots treated with EL-29l.
