In this study, nano-silica and nano-titanium were selected to determine the possibility of applying the binder to reactive nano materials. The basic characteristics of the nano material candidate group were reviewed. and the reactivity of nano materials was reviewed through K-value. The reactivity of the nano silicate materials was measured to be high. Therefore, as a final candidate group, nano silicate materials were selected. The finally selected reactive nano material was reviewed for its usability as a construction binder. The mechanical properties and unit weight of cement paste were reviewed using silica fume and blast furnace slag and nano materials. When cement composites with nano silicate materials, it was confirmed that it was effective in improving the mechanical performance and decrease the unit weight of cement composites.

Concrete quality is mainly managed through the reliable prediction and control of compressive strength. Although related industries have established a relevant datasets based on the mixture proportions and compressive strength gain, whereas they have not been shared due to various reasons including technology leakage. Consequently, the costs and efforts for quality control have been wasted excessively. This study aimed to develop a web-based numerical model, which would present diverse optimal values including concrete strength prediction to the user, and to establish a sustainable database (DB) collection system by inducing the data entered by the user to be collected for the DB. The system handles the overall technology related to the concrete. Particularly, it predicts compressive strength at a mean accuracy of 89.2% by applying the artificial neural network method, modeled based on extensive DBs.

In this study, the basic properties of cement paste with varying replacement ratio of micro-silica and fumed silica were analyzed to determine the suitability of nanomaterials for use as concrete admixtures. Referring to the ultra-high strength mix, the fluidity of cement paste was evaluated according to the nanomaterial replacement rate and the compressive strength characteristics were compared and analyzed. The related properties of the reactive nanomaterials to the cement hydrate were analyzed using SEM and EDS to observe the microstructure and identify the components of the hydration product. The reactive nanomaterials used in this study had tap densities between 0.061 and 0.264 g/cm3, which were lower than SF. Micro silica exhibited excellent compressive strength properties with increasing replacement ratio, but fumed silica, unlike micro white, obtained excellent compressive strength at replacement ratio of 0.01~0.1 %. The same trend was observed in the hydration characterization.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance on the compressive bonding shear strength of ultra-high strength steel fiber reinforced cementitous composites(UHSCC). As a result of compressive bonding shear strength through Direct shear test, It was found that the specimen($150{\times}150{\times}150mm$) of NC(Normal concrete) + NC showed similar compressive bonding shear strength at whole experimental level. On the other hand, the specimen of UHSCC + UHSCC showed decrease of compressive bonding shear strength from after 30 minutes of the retarded placement than 0 minute. As a result of analyzing failure mode of bonding interface, It was found that the specimen of NC + NC showed mixed failure at whole experimental level. In case of the specimen of UHSCC + UHSCC, it showed interface failure from the specimen that are 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes of delay of concrete placing. As a result of analyzing XRD test in terms of the placement interface on the specimen of NC and UHSCC, relatively much amount of $SiO_2$ was detected from the specimen of UHSCC than that of NC. It is judged that the most of main components of coating film shown in the specimen of UHSCC is $SiO_2$. In conclusion, it is judged that UHSCC which is made from after 30 minutes of delay of concrete placing is unable to be used as structural member because of deterioration of bonding performance. From later study, it is judged that the improvement of bonding performance from the part of cold joint occurrence is necessary through the interface preparation method.
In an uniaxial compressive test of a concrete standard specimen (150$\times$300 mm) the crack initiation and extension with the stress increase are the major reason of the failure, which is similar to the breakage of the particle bonding in the simulation by using particle bonded model, especially particle flow code in 3 dimensions (PFC3D) developed by Itasca Consulting Group Inc. That is the main motive to study the possibility of an uniaxial compressive strength test simulation. It is important to investigate the relationship between the micro-parameters and the macro-properties because the 3-dimensional particle bonded model uses the spherical particles to analyze the physical phenomena. Contact bonded model used herein has eight micro-parameters and there are five macro-properties; Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, uniaxial compressive strength and the crack initiation stress and the ratio concerning the crack propagation with the stress. To simulate the compressive test we made quantitative relationships between the micro-parameters and the macro-properties by using the fractional factorial design and various sensitivity analyses including regression analysis, which result in the good agreement with the previous studies. Also, the stress-stain curve and the crack distribution over the specimen given by PFC3D showed the mechanical behavior of the concrete standard specimen under the uniaxial compression. It is concluded that the particle bonded model can be a good tool for the analyzing the mechanical behavior of concrete under the uniaxial compressive load.
Recently, in order to reduce a damage of chloride attack and hydration heat in marine concrete structures, blended cement in mixing the marine concrete is widely used. Long term strength development is distinct in concrete with blended cement and it also has excellent resistance to chloride attack and reduction of hydration heat. However, blended cement has a characteristic of relatively low compressive strength in early age of 28 days. On the other hand, a high level of compressive strength is required in the Standard Specification for marine concrete mix design. Such concrete mix design satisfying Standard Specification is effective to chloride attack but disadvantageous for hydration heat reduction due to large quantity of binder. In this study, the material properties of marine concrete considering water-binder ratio and binder type are experimentally investigated. Through the research results, compressive strength in blended cement at the age of 56 days is similar although it has smaller compressive strength at the age of 28 days compared with result of OPC (ordinary portland cement). Even though blended cement has a large water-binder ratio and small unit of binder content, chloride ion diffusion coefficient is still small and hydration heat is also found to be reduced. For meeting the required compressive strength in Standard Specification for marine concrete at 28 days, the increased unit content of binder is needed but the increased hydration heat is also expected.

As the shortage of concrete aggregates is intensifying, the development of alternative resources is urgent. As the amount of steel slag increases year by year, attempts are being made to recycle slag into high-value-added products in order to develop an efficient resource recycling industry based on slag and to obtain economic benefits. However, the use of electric arc furnace oxidizing slag (EOS) as building materials is practically limited because it contains unstable materials. In this paper, physical properties of concrete were evaluated by using electric arc furnace slag aggregate. It has been produced with two levels of general strength area W / C 45% and high strength area W / C 30%. Fresh concrete has been tested in air content, flow and slump, unit weight. The properties of the cured concrete were investigated by compressive strength, bending strength and unit volume weight. As a result of this study, strength of concrete increased with increasing EOS aggregate mixture.

Fly ash(FA) which is a byproduct in the coal combustion in thermal power plant contributes to pore structure densification due to pozzolanic reaction, and this leads to long-term strength development and excellent resistance to chloride penetration. In the work, compressive strength and chloride resistance in OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement) and FA-based concrete are evaluated, and the relationships are investigated considering ages. For the work, 3 different W/B (Water to Binder) ratios of 37%, 42%, and 47% are prepared, and 3 substitution ratio of fly ash(0%, 30%, and 50%) are considered as well. At the age of 28 days and 180 days, test results of compressive strength, diffusion coefficients based on Tang's method, and passed charges referred to ASTM C 1202 and KS F 2711 are obtained. With increasing replacement ratio of FA and decreasing W/B, the resistances to chlorides(diffusion coefficient and passed charge) are improved, and the results at the age of 180 days decrease to only 15% level at the age of 28 days due to pozzolanic reaction in FA 50 mixture, which shows that resistance to chloride is much dependent on age effect than strength development. After 180 days, more clear linear relationships are observed between strength and resistance to chloride.

This study is a part of research to develop a steel-concrete hybrid girder using ultra high-performance concrete with a compressive strength of 80 MPa. To this end, the Eurocode design formula for the shear resistance developed in a concrete-to-concrete interface was examined for the interface between concrete layers of different strengths. To examine the effect of the surface roughness on the shear resistance, a push-out test was conducted on specimens while considering the parameters of the Eurocode design equation. The actual behavior was evaluated with respect to the compressive strength of the concrete, the reinforcement ratio of the shear rebar, and the interfacial surface condition. The specimen with a rough interface shows 20-50% higher shear strength than that estimated by the design equation. In the case of failure mode, abrupt failure tends to occur at the interface of the concrete layer for the specimen with a low reinforcement ratio. It is expected that the shear strength of the concrete layer will increase according to the strength differential in the concrete layers.

In this paper, the strength properties of porous concrete containing natural fine aggregates and bottom ash aggregates were investigated, The material properties of natural fine aggregates and bottom ash were identified then used as aggregates for porous concrete. The water-binder ratio was constant at 0.25, and the com paction level of 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 MPa was applied to produce a porous concrete specimen. Test of unit weight, ultrasonic velocity, compressive strength, and flexural tensile strength were perform ed and analyzed. The unit weight, ultrasonic velocity, com pressive strength, and flexural tensile strength increased as the compaction level increased and also the replacement rate of bottom ash with sand(fine aggregate) increased. In addition, through regression analysis, the correlation between the unit weight, compressive strength, and flexural tensile strength of bottom ash porous concrete was presented. Unit weight and strength properties are proportional to each other and showed an increasing correlation. In addition, the correlation coefficient (R2) value of regression analysis was calculated based on the experimental results of this study and those of other research papers.
