A Study on the Exterior Remodeling for Using Commercial Facility of Housing in City (상업시설로 용도변경 된 도심지 단독주택의 외부 리모델링에 관한 연구-서울특별시 강남구 압구정동과 청담동을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the exterior remodeling examples of urban houses which have been changed to be mixed-use buildings with commercial use, and to guide the future exterior remodeling. Some of the research results are as follows: 1) Exterior remodeling of commercialized urban detached houses is focused on two-dimensional changes of exterior surface, rather than on three-dimensional changes of mass or shape. 2) Unlike commercial buildings generally relying on signboards to express their commercial nature, the exterior-renovated houses with commercial uses mainly rely on the image of whole building shape based on exterior materials and colors. 3) Installations of free-standing walls and double skins are preferred as exterior remodeling techniques, due to the structural limitation of exterior walls.

A Study on the Locational Patterns of Wedding Shops in Seoul : A Case of Gangnam-Gu (서울시 웨딩 업체의 입지 패턴에 관한 연구 : 강남구를 사례로)

  • Wedding shops, which had been located in Jung-gu, Jongno-gu, Seodaemun-gu, and Mapo-gu in 1990, have been shown a rapid change in light of location since the year of 1995. Thus, most of shops are concentrated on Gangnam-gu in 2010. Wedding dress shops in Gangnam-gu were distributed between Kanglim Church and Apgujeong station in the early 1990s, and then moved gradually to Dosan park and then to Cheongdam-dong after passing through Hakdong intersection. Luxury image in Cheongdam-dong was the main reason for integration of wedding businesses. This intergration of shops showed the peak at the Cheongdam intersection. A motive of having come to start business in Cheongdam-dong was selected the high awareness and image in district, and was taken the ease for business-based cooperation and connection. High rent and inconvenient transportation were reasons for dissatisfaction. The business-based cooperation and connection were mostly formed through a consulting company. Level and reputation of relevant shops were important elements. Even the connective and associative shops are located the most in Cheongdam-dong followed by Nonhyeon-dong, Shinsa Apgujeong-dong in order. The cluster relationship was most noticeable in wedding studio, wedding dress, wedding consulting, and hanbok(Korean traditional clothes) business. Frequency of vertical cluster was indicated to be more than horizontal cluster. User behavior of wedding businesses in Seoul has been collecting wedding information through internet and wedding consulting business.

  • With a growing interest in the Han River Skyline, which greatly influences Seoul's image, careful consideration of the skyline form has become crucial in the redevelopment plans for apartment complexes along the Han River. The Seoul Metropolitan City government has lifted the height limitations for apartments along the Hang River to cultivate a vibrant skyline. However, traditional skyline analysis often overlooks specific attributes, limiting the provision of precise guidelines for Seoul's unique skyline plans. Despite advancements in Digital Twin technology, only some tools effectively manage urban skylines with preferred shapes. Hence, this study aims to make a substantial contribution to the advancement of a Digital Twin 3D modeling program capable of effectively managing urban skylines. This is achieved through the utilisation of Conjoint Analysis, which assesses the importance of each attribute in determining the preferred skyline shape. Focusing on Apgujeong apartment complexes along the Han River currently undergoing redevelopment or planned for redevelopment, the study analyses the preferred skyline shape to propose standards for the Digital Twin 3D modeling program development. It also suggests that Conjoint Analysis can be beneficial in this process.

  • The purposes of this study were to compare the marketing compose elements of Apgujung and Shinchon branch of Hyundai Department Store and to suggest desirable fashion marketing strategies for other Department Stores and retailing stores. The results were as follows: Two kinds of factor were classified form this study; one was Hardware elements such as Trading Area Site, Store Composition, Scale, and Subsidiary facilities etc., another was Software elements like Store Concept, Image, and Merchandising and so on. The followings were suggested from Hardware elements; 1) Trading Area could be classified'local type'and 'spread type'. 2) Each branch was differentiated from store formation of conventional department store which had food department in basement. There were the most powerful women's fashion brand to lead costumers in second basement. 3) In accordance with the position of subsidiary facilities of Hyundai Department Store,'Water Jet Effect'strategy and'Show Effect'strategy could be usefully applied for other Department Stores and retailing stores. 4) The strategy of approaching easily to the target floor which was located in lower floor, could be applied to various retailing stores. The followings were suggested from Software elements; 1) Stores management coping with poles-apart in costumer could be needed to other Department Store and retailing stores. 2) It also could be needed to find and maintain effective ratio between common brand and differentiated brands in the other Department Stores.

A Conceptual Study 'Heo(虛)' in Shanghanlun : Based on 2 Cases Treated by Chijasi-tang (『상한론(傷寒論)』 '허(虛)'에 대한 고찰 : 변병진단체계(辨病診斷體系)를 통한 치자시탕(梔子豉湯) 증례 2례에 근거하여)

  • Objective: To explore the meaning of 虛in Shanghanlun through two cases. Methods: We analyzed the original form of 虛and the contexts in Shanghanlun. Concurrently, we report two clinical cases treated with Chijasi-tang according to the newly deduced definition of 虛. Results: 虛is composed of 丘and 虍, which means a tiger on a large hill. Here, the meaning of "empty"was derived. In both cases, sleep disorders and heart stuffiness were the chief complaints, which were confirmed to occur under 虛's circumstances. Therefore, Chijasi-tang was administered to two patients with a feeling of emptiness as a pathogenic factor, and improvements were confirmed in both cases. Conclusions: In 15 provisions of Shanghanlun, 虛is defined as "a feeling of emptiness"instead of of "deficient,"which was widely used previously, and appears clinically as "emptiness after being hurt by someone."This definition was applicable in both cases.Further study of the other characters is needed because the previously used meaning may be different in the 15-character provisions of the Shanghanlun.

A Conceptual Study of "Pyo (表)" in Gangpyeong-Shanghanlun Based on Two Cases of Bipolar Disorder Improved with Mahwang-tang (『강평상한론(康平傷寒論)』 '표(表)'에 대한 고찰 : 마황탕(麻黃湯)으로 호전된 양극성 장애 2례를 바탕으로)

  • Objective : We explored the meaning of "Pyo (表)" in Gangpyeong-Shanghanlun through two cases. Methods : We analyzed the original form of 表 and its context in Shanghanlun. We also analyzed 2 clinical cases of bipolar disorder treated with Mahwang-tang (麻黃湯) according to the newly deduced definition of 表. Results : 表 can be interpreted as "pursuing something high-class seen from the outside." Both cases had various psychological symptoms including insomnia, mood swings, anxiety, and depression. We determined that the diseases in both cases occurred when 表 had not been achieved. We also found that 麻黃湯 can improve psychological status. Conclusions : 表 is different from "surface," which is the most widely used definition. After diagnosing these two patients with bipolar disorder using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th edition), we found that symptoms could be improved by administration of 麻黃湯 (46條). Although its potential for neuropsychiatric diagnosis has been suggested through etymological interpretation of 表 and analysis of two cases, more advanced clinical studies are needed in the future.

A Method to Evaluate Distance Efficiency of Seoul Metropolitan Subway by Estimating Subway Detour Factor (지하철 우회계수 산정을 통한 수도권 지하철의 거리 효율 평가 모형)

  • Detour of metro (subway) in metropolitan area has been regarded as one of inherent elements that make entire metro system less competitive than passenger cars. However, factors affecting detour of metro line is not specified clearly when a new subway system is planned or an existing system is improved. Previous detour-related studies was reviewed for developing 'distance efficeincy evaluation model' for metro as well as its counterpart (i.e. road). Metro line 3 (orange line) of Seoul metropolitan area was applied as a case study. As a results, the most detoured OD segment is Daechi - Apgujeong and its detour factor is 1.93 which means that the distance of the metro is 1.93 times longer distance compared to the distance of the road. The metro line 3 has averagely 20% longer distance compared to road for the identical O/D pairs.

  • Recently there are increasing demands for establishing its peculiar city image in Korea. In establishing a urban image, streetscapes of various functional regions in city have very important roles. And many streetscape were designed and are under design for that purpose. There are many factors involved in the image-generation of streetscape, and the facade is one of the most important factors. In this study, we surveyed many factors in the city-regions of various functions to find out desirable characteristics of facade for each region. And we are going to use there findings as a basic data in the future streetscape design. We selected traditional region(Insadong, Chongro-gu, Seoul), apartment-type residential region (Apkujung-dong, Kangnam-gu, Seoul), and newly developed-downtown (Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejun) as streetscapes of various functions for facade study. Texture, color, form, size, structure and location of the following facade components were surveyed and analyzed. The surveyed components were window, entrance, equipment, signboard, show window.

  • The purpose of this paper is to research the locational characteristics of commercial land use. So this study deals with the realation between land use pattern and the factors which influence commercial land use. To perform this purpose we choose Apgujung-Dong as a case study area which is specially characterized as fashion street. Commercial facilities are spreading into the inner residential areas in Apgujung-Dong. To raise the efficency accuracy of research, informations of lands and buildings are analysed with EXCEL, ARC/INFO, SPSS The results are : (1) The characteristics of lots and buildings in Apgujung-Dong are different in kinds of commercial facilities. (2) The floor where commercial facilities are to locate varies with functions. (3) Commercial land use pattern is influenced by lot size, building size and story, accessibility, adjacent land use, etc. (4) QS is a useful tool in relation with urban land use analysis.

  • The historic cultural landscape of East lake in Kyung river area during Joseon dynasty was very outstanding that it had many attractions of scenic beauty, however, the Han river of today is being recognized as a natural landscape and as a place with low cultural and historical traits. This study applied landscape characteristics of the cultural space of Joseon Dynasty on visual image elements of Lynch to research the landscape characteristics. The research results are as follows. When East lake was applied to visual image elements, it was recognized as a 'superb' 'paths,' and the 'edge' which signifies the boundary showed its 'superb' clarity of the East lake. For the 'node,' a turning point of direction, Dumopo represented the 'superb' awareness. As East lake, Apgujung, and Jecheonjung represented the 'superb' awareness when 'landmark' among visual image elements of Lynch was applied to the cultural space, the awareness level and reputation were proportional to the visual image elements. When pattern, structure, and meaning of the cultural space were clear and had definite identity, the 'landmark' and 'district' elements were 'superb.' It was also identified that when awareness level of space was higher, the awareness of historic cultural landscape was high as well. Therefore, considering visual awareness level of the historic cultural landscape of Han river during restoration to investigate and to conduct case studies is considered to increase the awareness level of historicity and cultural character as well as restoration of the place.
