A Review of the Cognitive Neuroscience of Creativity (창의성에 대한 인지신경과학 연구 개관)

  • Creativity refers to the ability to generate novel and useful ideas. Understanding the mechanism of creativity and its enhancement is important in order to solve major problems of the modern society and to improve the wellness of mankind. Creativity is a highly heterogeneous and complex ability which should not be conceptualized as a single entity. Thus, the current literature on creativity is based on a component process approach to creativity. The present study introduces cognitive neuroscience research studying the mechanism of divergent thinking, insight, relational thinking and artistic creativity which are the major components of creativity. Based on an expansive review, the early hypothesis of hemispheric asymmetry emphasizing the importance of the right as opposed to the left hemisphere is not supported by scientific evidence. In addition, there is no consensus or consistency on which specific brain region is related to a certain component of creativity. In fact, there is a mixture of studies reporting involvement of various brain regions across all four lobes of the brain. This inconsistency in the literature most likely reflects heterogeneity of the component processes of creativity and sensitivity of the neural response to differences across tasks and cognitive strategy. The present study introduces examples of representative studies reporting seminal findings on the neural basis and the enhancement of creativity based on innovative methodology. In addition, we discuss limitations of the current cognitive neuroscience approach to creativity and present directions for future research.

A Study on the Improvement for Bidet Product-Service Design for Seniors by PSS-based 4D Double Diamond Design Process Model (PSS 기반 4D 더블 다이아몬드 모델을 활용한 시니어를 위한 비데 제품-서비스디자인 개선방안 연구)

  • This study uses the bidet 4D double diamond design process model to propose an improvement for "senior-oriented bidet product service design" that reflects the characteristics and needs of seniors. This study was based on the product service system concept. To this end, qualitative research on seniors was conducted to derive user value factors, and, based on this, product service ideas were discovered, and a prototype reflecting the usefulness review of a working-level expert group was proposed. First, a "smart application service for user-customized function setting guide" was proposed. A bidet incorporating Internet of Things technology and a smart phone are linked to provide an app service that automatically interprets user characteristic information and information on bidet products to guide customized functions. Second, a control panel and remote control user interface to "user-oriented product service interface" was proposed. In consideration of the usability and cognitive ability of seniors, a simple and intuitive physical user interface such as a configuration centered on main functions, button arrangement according to task sequence, and a touch screen remote control was presented. Third, we proposed a "bidet care service linked with products and health/hygiene care" that provides a wide range of services such as user health and hygiene, cleanliness, entertainment, etc., in addition to regular bidet product service. This study proposed a product-based service design methodology that can improve user experience and relationship quality by discovering and improving the pain points and needs of users (seniors) in the process of using bidet products (before, during, and after use).

Effectiveness Analysis of a STEAM Program Utilizing Digital Astronomy and Space Resources for 6th Graders in Elementary School (초등학교 6학년을 위한 디지털 활용 천문우주 STEAM 프로그램의 효과 분석)

  • In this study, we developed a STEAM program based on digital astronomical and space resources and applied it to 167 randomly selected elementary school students to examine the effectiveness of the STEAM program in enhancing creative problem solving skills. The results of this study are as follows: first, the statistical analysis of pre-test and post-test scores for creative problem-solving skills related to the STEAM program showed significant results (p<.05). This suggests that the STEAM program contributed to improving creative problem-solving skills through the procedural process involved in generating ideas and convergent thinking during the digital problem-solving. Second, the paired sample t-test based on the pre-test and post-test of the STEAM attitude test also showed significant results (p<.05). Analyzing digital materials and presenting pixel art projects positively influenced STEAM attitudes in terms of interest, communication, and usefulness. This underscores the need for developing integrative education programs utilizing advanced technologies in the future. Third, in the class satisfaction test conducted after the application of the STEAM program, the satisfaction factor scored an average of 3.55, interest scored 3.35, and overall class difficulty scored 3.46. The main difference from traditional classes was the focus on 'acquisition of future career information.' However, given the slight decrease in interest during the digital transformation and interpretation process, it is recommended that future classes allocate sufficient time for experiential activities. To generalize the developed program, future studies should consider various school levels, implementation periods, and difficulty levels.

VE Alternative Verification Method Using KANO Model (카노모델을 활용한 VE대안 검증방법)

  • VE is used as a powerful tool to add value to facilities by improving functionality and reducing costs. By identifying the client's requirements in the VE process and reflecting them in the quality model, the developed alternatives meet the client's requirements. However, there is no process to verify how the developed alternatives reflect the needs of the client through functional analysis, idea generation and evaluation. The purpose of this study was to develop, verify, and prove the effectiveness of a methodology for evaluating client satisfaction with alternatives developed during the VE Job Plan. The KANO model, which can identify the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of requirements in product planning, was set as a methodology for alternative verification procedures of VE, and was improved and applied to the purpose of this study. As a result, the alternative evaluation method developed in this study was found to be useful. It is expected that the KANO model will be used to evaluate the satisfaction of VE alternatives in the VE Job Plan analysis.

Design and Implementation of Stream Cipher based on SHACAL-2 Superior in the Confidentiality and Integrity (기밀성과 무결성이 우수한 SHACAL-2 기반 스트림 암호 설계 및 구현)

  • We have developed a 128-bit stream cipher algorithm composed of the 5-stage pipeline, capable of real-time processing, confidentiality and integrity. The developed stream cipher is a stream cipher algorithm that makes the final 128-bit ciphers through a whitening process after making the ASR 277 bit and SHACAL-2 and applying them to the CFB mode. We have verified the hardware performance of the proposed stream cipher algorithm with Modelsim 6.5d and Quartus II 12.0, and the result shows that the hardware runs at 33.34Mhz(4.27Gbps) at worst case. According to the result, the new cipher algorithm has fully satisfied the speed requirement of wireless Internet and sensor networks, and DRM environment. Therefore, the proposed algorithm with satisfaction of both confidentiality and integrity provides a very useful ideas.

The Effective Risk Management of Academic Entrepreneurs' R&D Technology Transfer (학술적 기업가의 R&D 성과이전 위험의 효과적 관리)

  • The transfer of R&D performance is the technology transfer in a narrow sense. This study aimed at fanning the effective managerial systems of the transfer of the academic entrepreneur's R&D performance. For this purpose, this study analysed the characteristics and success factors of R&D performance transfer based on the theory of project life cycle. This research classified the life cycle of academic entrepreneurs' R&D projects into six stages. And the risks associated with the transfer process was categorized using the case study about the establishing processes the mineral-related small finns. Especially, the risk of the technology transfer was investigated by the R&D project implementation stages. Based on this results, this paper suggested the strategic system such as the marketing-oriented thinking, the clear-cut statement of the role among the stake-holders of the R&D and commercialization processes, the dynamic system of the academic entrepreneurs' leadership, the formation of the transfer management system, and the usage of project risk management techniques.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the qualitative characteristics of pre-service teachers' motivation while they are participating in group activities for developing mathematical essay assessment problem and revising it. For this purpose, we analyzed individual factors about group learning activities as well as contextual factors about practical competency (in developing and revising mathematical essay assessment problem through collecting data of student responses to the problem). As results of data analyses, autonomy, among individual factors regarding group learning activities, was one of the main characteristics in attainment value, utility value, and intrinsic value, whereas task, authority, and grouping, among contextual factors regarding practical competency, appeared to have a positive impact on task value. These results suggest how to think of specific ideas and articulate them in designing a curriculum to develop student-evaluation expertise for pre-service teachers.

A Study of Dysfunctional Customer's Personality Information for Proposing 'Evil Persona' ('사악한 퍼소나' 제안을 위한 역기능적 소비자 성격 정보 연구)

  • Recently, service failure from dysfunctional customer behavior has been observed in various service industries. Customers so-called 'Jaycustomer' can make bad influence to other customer's service experience which can be the obstacle of ideal service delivery. Therefore, approaching dysfunctional customer in service design perspective have became necessary, and modelling such customers through persona could be useful. For this purpose, we suggested the concept 'Evil Persona', and to find statements of personality trait which can make designers predict dysfunctional customer behavior, literature review and Q method analysis were performed. In result, dysfunctional customer behaviors were differed from service characteristics and were able to predict by combinations of statements. Based on this, more detailed customer information could be offered by presenting differentiated dysfunctional behavior information according to service characteristics. Since service design expanded its area, 'Evil Persona' can be valuable as criteria of verifying and compensating idea's vulnerability and limitation.

Recent Information on the Plagiarism Prevention (표절 방지에 관한 최근 정보)

  • Due to its role in maintaining the health of scientific societies, research ethics (or integrity) is notably receiving attention by academia, governments and even individuals who are not engaged in scientific researches. In this paper, I will introduce some valuable papers dealt with plagiarism as a representative research misconduct. In general, researcher's results that will soon be published must meet the crucial scientific criteria: originality, accuracy, reproducibility, precision and research ethics. The definition of plagiarism is "appropriation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit." Compared to fabrication and falcification, plagiarism is often considered as a minor misconduct. With intentionality, however, plagiarism can be corresponding to 'theft of intellectual product'. The context of plagiarism is not restricted to the stage of publication. It can be extended to prior stages of proposing (i.e. preparing the research proposal) and performing (executing the research), and reviewing (writing the review papers). Duplicate publication is regarded as a self-plagiarism in broad interpretation of plagiarism. To avoid dangers of plagiarism, earnest efforts from all members of scientific community are needed. First of all, researchers should keep 'transparency' and 'integrity' in their scientific works. Editorial board members and reviewers should keep fairness and well-deserved qualification. Government and research foundations must be willing to provide sufficient financial and policy support to the scientific societies; Up-graded editorial services, making good use of plagiarism detection tools, and thorough instruction on how to write a honest scientific paper will contribute to building up a healthy basis for scientific communities.

New Service Creation based on the Morphological Approach: Generation of Service Concept for Mobile Business (Morphology 접근법을 통한 신 서비스 창출 : 모바일 비즈니스의 서비스 개념 개발)

  • 최근 제조업을 보완하는 새로운 성장동력으로 서비스산업의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 특히 무선 인터넷과 통신 기술의 발전은 신 서비스 창출의 기회를 마련해주는 동시에 서비스 시스템을 복잡하게 변화시키고 있다. 그러나 기존의 서비스 개발은 정성적인 판단과 직관에 의지하고 있으며, 서비스 개발 방법론은 개념적이고 추상적인 수준에서 제공되고 있다는 한계를 가진다. 이는 모바일 비즈니스(mobile business)와 같은 복잡한 서비스 시스템의 변화에 능동적으로 대처하지 못하고 있어, 모바일 비즈니스를 위한 실질적이고 체계적인 신 서비스 개발의 방법론의 필요성을 증가시킨다. 본 연구에서는 morphology 분석을 통해 모바일 비즈니스를 위한 체계적인 신서비스 개발 방법론을 제안한다. 특히 새로운 무선 통신 환경아래에서 급격한 변화를 맞고 있는 음악 산업을 대상으로 제안된 방법론의 활용 사례를 제시할 것이다. 제안된 방법론은 크게 4 단계로 구성된다. 첫째, 제공되는 서비스 시스템을 체계화하기 위해 morphology의 dimension들을 정의한다. 각 차원은 서비스 시스템의 하위 시스템이며, 이는 기존의 문헌조사와 연구를 통해 정의된다. 둘째, 각 차원별로 morphology의 shape를 정의한다. 셋째, 각 차원의 shape를 조합하여 과거의 서비스 시스템을 표현하고, morphology의 dimension과 shape를 확장한다. 넷째, morphology의 확장된 dimension과 shape를 조합하여 새로운 서비스를 구성한다. 제안된 접근법은 크게 두 가지 측면에서 강점을 가진다. 첫째, 신 서비스 아이디어의 획득을 용이하게 할 수 있다. morphology분석은 체계적인 설계 방법론을 창의적인 생각을 돕는 도구로 의미가 있다. 둘째, 체계적인 신 서비스의 개발을 가능하게 한다. morphology접근법은 M-비즈니스와 같은 복잡한 서비스 시스템을 구조적으로 분석하고, 개발할 수 있는 기틀이 된다.킹 대상을 도출할 때까지 추가적인 분석과정을 반복한다. 제안한 방법을 통하여 조직은 기술적 생산 가능성 외에도 다양한 조직 운영 관점에서 적절한 벤치마킹 대상을 선정할 수 있으며, 이에 따른 목표를 수립할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 또한 더 나아가 global efficiency 관점에서 효율적 조직이 되기 위하여 단계적인 벤치마킹 대상 선정과 이에 따른 목표를 수립하는데도 유용하리라 판단된다.$1.20{\pm}0.37L$, 72시간에 $1.33{\pm}0.33L$로 유의한 차이를 보였으므로(F=6.153, P=0.004), 술 후 폐환기능 회복에 효과가 있다. 4) 실험군과 대조군의 수술 후 노력성 폐활량은 수술 후 72시간에서 실험군이 $1.90{\pm}0.61L$, 대조군이 $1.51{\pm}0.38L$로 유의한 차이를 보였다(t=2.620, P=0.013). 5) 실험군과 대조군의 수술 후 일초 노력성 호기량은 수술 후 24시간에서 $1.33{\pm}0.56L,\;1.00{\ge}0.28L$로 유의한 차이를 보였고(t=2.530, P=0.017), 술 후 72시간에서 $1.72{\pm}0.65L,\;1.33{\pm}0.3L$로 유의한 차이를 보였다(t=2.540, P=0.016). 6) 대상자의 술 후 폐환기능에 영향을 미치는 요인은 성별로 나타났다. 이에 따른 폐환기능의 차이를 보면, 실험군의 술 후 노력성 폐활량이 48시간에 남자($1.78{\pm}0.61L$)가 여자($1.27{\pm}0.45L$)보다 더 높게 나타났으며 (t=2.170, P=0.042), 72시간에도 역시 남자($2.16{\pm}0.56L$)가 여자($1.50{\pm}0.47L$)보다 더 높았다(t=2.910, P=0.008). 술 후 일초 노
