Purpose: This descriptive research was conducted to identify educational needs in pediatric nursing handoff training to improve students' handoff skills. Methods: Data were collected using a survey with 188 senior nursing students and 48 pediatric nursing professors and clinical nurses. The survey included items on general information as well as experiences in handoff training, necessity, training content, and items for a handoff training program in pediatric nursing. Results: Of the nursing students, 30.5% reported receiving handoff training during their clinical hours. After their handoff training, the students' confidence index was only 3.78 out of 10. Significantly, 98.3% of the respondents said that pediatric handoff training is necessary. In addition, participants reported that simulation practice (26.5%) is an appropriate educational method, and the time required for handoff training should be 8.16 hrs. Admission process was placed first as the most critical circumstance for handoff (56.8%). High demands were observed for the necessity of training content for patients with respiratory problems. Conclusion: The results of this study show the various educational needs for developing a patient safety pediatric handoff training program to promote nursing students' skills in handoff.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify differences between the degree of nursing need and nursing performance as perceived by caregivers of hospitalized children. Methods: Participants included 200 main caregivers from two pediatric hospitals where their children had been hospitalized for at least 2 days. Data were collected from October 30 to December 10, 2014. Results: The degree ($2.64{\pm}0.40$) of nursing performance perceived by caregivers with hospitalized children was found to be significantly lower than that ($3.39{\pm}0.21$) of nursing needs of caregivers. Of nursing needs, direct nursing had the highest score at 3.59, and nursing assessment, the lowest at 3.23. For nursing performance, nursing assessment had the highest score at 2.76, and education and counseling, the lowest at 2.35. Conclusion: These results suggest that performance of nursing activities by nurses caring for hospitalized children do not meet the nursing needs of the caregivers. Therefore it is necessary to develop nursing strategies to reduce the gap between nursing needs and nursing performance.

This study investigates the educational needs of parents of elementary school children, who use smartphones for emergencies. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, and data of 200 parents of students under the 6th grade was collected from October 17 to 27, 2017. The study results indicate that 67.5% parents visited the emergency department due to a child's emergency accident. Of these, 74% respondents replied that they were unaware of how to deal with the emergency at that instance. Most parents had never received education, and were using smart-phones to acquire information on first aid. Ed. Notes: Do you mean education in general (i.e. Most parents were uneducated) or do you mean 'education for emergencies'? Please revise for more clarity. Parents' demand for education on child emergency response scored high, with an average of 3.40 (±0.42) out of 4 points. Among the educational categories, "the management of foreign body airway obstruction and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)" scored the highest average for educational needs (3.64±0.52). This research provides baseline information for understanding the educational needs of parents for first aid for the child. Our findings indicate that the smartphone is potentially an effective educational tool for parents.

Recently with the emergence of the digital age and the progress of the learning economy, the role of library is expanding from archiving and providing information to education and community service. In this paradigm child education programs at public libraries are strongly demanded by the community. The goal of this study is to analyze the educational roles of child education programs currently being implemented in public libraries. This research tries to incorporate the current child education program into a constructivist perspective. In conclusion, the designed and proposed model in this study was then applied to public libraries' reading education program, and the case was verified through empirical examination and investigation. These studies revealed that the designing of constructivist teaching and the learning model for child education programs was positively verified and found some strategic implication for the development of child education programs in public libraries.

The purpose of this paper is to provide design information about children facilities, in which children's demands as main users are subject to be missed because of the shortage of children's communication ability in making design decisions. For this purpose various studies on childhood environment-behavior characteristics supporting children's demands are examined. The main part of this paper is divided into two categories, personal characteristics and social characteristics, and each category has several sub-categories. In personal characteristics, issues related to environmental perception and cognition are examined focused on development and change in childhood. Subjects about social characteristics include privacy, personal space, territoriality and density. The purpose of this study was to investigate the needs assessment and satisfaction level of family support services for preschoolers with disabilities. The subjects were 146 mothers and 138 teachers of 3- to 6-year- old preschool children with disabilities in integrated kindergartens in Daegu, Seoul, and Kyungnam. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, mothers needed information and financial support most. The level of the mother's needs was related to the type and degree of disabilities, child's sex, child's age, mother's educational level, and father's occupation. Second, the satisfaction level of mothers in the integrated kindergarten education programs was generally low. Third, mothers needed parental training of child's problem behavior, mother-child interactions program, and parental education of developing child's creativity.
Participants in this study were 207 mothers of toddlers; they completed questionnaires on their need for and knowledge level of parent education, parenting efficacy, and parenting stress. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Mothers indicated high need for parent education; their knowledge level was moderate. Most mothers answered they'd like to participate in a parent education program; their preference was for small group programs implemented for 1-2 hours in the morning on weekdays for six sessions. Mothers with more knowledge of parenting information for toddlers showed higher parenting efficacy and experienced less parenting stress.
