The parents of 484 Korean children aged between 3 and 7 years completed the Korean version of Parental Temperamental Questionnaire developed by Thomas and Chess and Developmental Questionnaire created by Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Samsung Medical Center. After clustering these children into 5 temperamental groups according to the method proposed by Fullard et al, 98 Easy, 36 Difficult, and 21 Slow-To-Warm-Up children were included in the analysis. Statistically meaningful differences observed among three groups were as follow:1) Marital conflict of parents was more frequent in Difficult and Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in Easy children. 2) Parentchild conflict was more frequent in Difficult children than in Easy children. 3) Conflict among siblings was more frequent in Difficult children than in Easy children. 4) Average monthly income of family was less in Difficult children than in Easy children. 5) Toilet training was achieved later in Difficult children than in Easy children. 6) Motor development was slower, between 2 and 5 years old, in Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in Easy children. 7) Fear of stranger started earlier in Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in easy children. 8) Physical health was poorer in Difficult and Slow-To-Warm-Up children than in easy children. • Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between structural and process difficulties experienced by childcare center directors in operating childcare centers and to explore characteristics of childcare centers that affect the path. Methods: The participants were 309 childcare center directors, and data were collected through a mobile survey method. Descriptive statistics and SEM were implemented using SPSS and AMOS. Results: Unsupported childcare centers and capacity aggravated structural difficulties in operation of childcare centers, while the number of enrolled children and the enrollment rate reduced such difficulties that were reported by directors. In the case of labor cost supported centers and childcare centers with a high enrollment rate reported a high level of process difficulties. Because the effect of structural difficulties on process difficulties were significant, the indirect influences of structural difficulties that mediated the influences of general background characteristics on process difficulties were also significant. Conclusion/Implications: This study shows that difficulties in operating childcare centers could be considered in terms of structure and process aspects. This study is also meaningful in that it suggests that the characteristics of individual childcare centers should be emphasized in a customized way to alleviate such difficulties.

  • This study was performed to establish the lateral cephalometric standards of Korean children for diagnosis of antero-posterior and vertical discrepancies of maxillofacial region. The lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken from 100 Korean children with normal occlusion, and then 15 measurements were statistically analysed. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Maxillary length of males was significantly greater than that of females (p < 0.05). There was strong correlation between maxillary and mandibular length (r = 0.625(M), 0.574(F)). 2. Lower facial height of males was significantly greater than that of females (p < 0.05). Furthermore, there was strong correlation between total facial height and upper facial height (r = 0.405(M), 0.417(F)) and very strong correlation between total facial height and lower facial height (r = 0.763(M), 0.787(F)). 3. All measurements for dento-alveolar relation showed no statistically significant sex difference. Maxillary length showed strong correlation with mandibular plane - lower incisor (r = 0.474(M), 0.426(F)) and mandibular plane - lower molar (r = 0.488(M), 0.499(F)).

  • It is pretty hard to sell the kids' furniture online because of the characteristics of the consumers that they will like to make purchases after looking at the actual objects and then considering purchasing them. In this paper, we made the scheme to boost the on-line malls of the kids' furniture market by collecting the consumers' intention to buy before purchasing with questionnaire survey, comparing it with the real data of purchasing, and analyzing the differences. We analyzed the visit number of shopping mall, the page number of views, page duration time per visit, and customer's shopping path by using log data from the children's furniture online shopping mall server. In addition, we analyzed where the customer's influx route is among online advertising. We found that there are requirements for the designs, prices, brand names, and practicalities by the consumers purchasing the kids' furniture online. To strengthen competitiveness of the online kids' furniture malls, we proposed that reinforcing the on-line experiences of furniture, the differential strategies for the products, ensuring the fixed customers are needed.

  • To facilitate interaction between home robot and humans, it's urgently needed to make in-depth research in Human-Robot Interaction(HRI). The purpose of this study was to examine how children interacted with a newly developed home robot named 'iRobi' in a bid to identify how the home robot affected their psychology and the effectiveness of learning through the home robot. Concerning the psychological effects of the home robot, the children became familiar with the robot, and found it possible to interact with it, and their initial anxiety was removed. As to its learning effect, the group that studied by using the home robot outperformed the others utilizing the other types of learning media (books, WBI)in attention, learning interest and academic achievement. Accordingly, home robot could serve as one of successful vehicles to expedite the psychological and educational interaction of children.

  • A person with neurological disorder is defined as a person with limitation of ambulation or basic life activity due to the cerebral palsy or traumatic brain damage, stroke. Recently, the DMFT of the children with neurological disorders is similar or lower than the DMFT of the children with no disability. But, this article is about the severe-early childhood caries in children with grade 1 neurological disorder. It is supposed that the primary motor impairment and secondary physical weakness, frequent hospitalization, sugar- rich food and drugs, lack of oral care, delayed dental visit made high caries susceptibility. In case of treatment of the children with severe neurological disorders, dentists should make a thorough caries preventive plan based on individualized caries risk assessment. Also parents and medical doctors should recognize the importance of oral care and do the early dental visit and home care.
