  • The rise of single living has been one of the most important demographic shifts of recent decades. The solo household is a little less than 40% in Europe areas and that of Tokyo is over 45%. Being impacted this figure, the formation of single economy is the key word in World Economic Forum(WEF) 2008. Seoul' single household is increasing rapidly. Between 2000 and 2005, the growth of single person is around 34%, the population of single person reached 700,000 people. Now 20% of total household in Seoul is Single household. Living alone or solo living is not exceptional or special in Seoul Metropolitan City. The rise in single living will create pressures towards poverty and inequality and so on. Seoul should develop and prepare the urban policy for single household. We figured out the four key trends which composed of single household in Seoul. Four types of single person are like below : Gold Mr and Miss, Reserved labor forces, depressed single and silver generation. Gold group is amonst people aged 30 and 40 who is working in the area of white collar and professional. They are usually elective single person household who have chosen solo living. Reserved labor forces group is usually among 20s people who have not get the regular hob. For this group, job acquiring is the most important issue. Depressed single person household group is among people aged late 30s and 40s. Its group is the result from the broken family. The silver group is among aged over 65 that is the main issue of the aged society. In this research, we stressed that people living alone can be split into two types - elective single person households who have chosen single living, and forced single person household who have been constrained to this lifestyle by circumstances. Except gold group, the rest of the group is the forced single household who are faced to poverty. The monthly income of single person household is almost under 2 million won. Single person household is usually working in the blue collar job and service area. So, except gold group that is the smallest part of single person household, almost single person is not the target of private market, but the object of public policy.

  • With the development of the society, people's thought and the way of life is changing. The change of the traditional values and marriage lead to the increase of the "singles" groups in modern society. The "singles" group's behaviors, living environment, and consumption have become a social focus. With the emergence of the "singles", traditional furniture already can't meet the demand, so personalized furniture should be developed for the "singles". This study based on background and consumption psychology of the "singles", analyzed the consumption characteristics and preferences of the "singles". It studied the furniture demand of the "singles", and analyzed the existing unmarried person's residential form, types and characteristics of the furniture, and also analyzed the existing furniture using by the "singles" with SWOT, made a more systematic study for finding the advantages and disadvantages of existing the "singles" group's furniture. Then, combined with the unmarried person's furniture needs, living forms, the advantages and disadvantages of the "singles" furniture, etc., made the multi-functional furniture design concept for the "singles". This concept as a design direction, which would make out more suitable furniture be in keeping with the "singles" group's characteristics and requirements. Finally through the concept of multi-functional and folding raise the utilization ratio of narrow space of the living environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze responses as bystanders of middle school girls in a simulated cyberbullying situation. This study also aimed to examine effects of bullying, victimization, anger-out, and state-anger on responses from girls as bystanders. The participants were composed of 2nd or 3rd grade middle school girls(N=59). Responses were classified into 7 categories(using explicit language, attacking, pass, changing topic, comforting victims, others, and conformity). Of these, attackings were classified according to the target(bully, victim, both, and ambiguous object). It was again classified as 'attacking response' and 'helping response' and was scored and summed according to the strength of the response and used as a dependent variable. Collected data were analyzed by correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, the most frequent response was 'the others'(41.69%) followed by 'using explicit language'(20.34%), 'passing'(13.56%), 'attacking bully'(8.81%), 'conformity'(8.64%), 'changing topic'(6.61%), and 'comforting victim'(0.34%). Second, responses of attacking victim were positively influenced by the previous bullying experiences and acting anger-out, and were negatively influenced by the previous victimization experience. State-anger has a positively influenced on responses of the attacking bully and the helping victim. None of the variables were significant influenced on responses of the attacking both and ambiguous object. These results will be useful data to help middle school girls as bystanders properly intervene in cyberbullying situation. Finally, the limitations of this study were discussed along with suggestions for further research.

  • This driving simulation study examined the effect of driver's state driving anger(SDA) on collision avoidance(CA) and situation awareness(SA), as well as the moderating effect of driver's positive and negative affect(PA and NA) on the relationship between the driver's SDA and SA. The results showed the followings. First, high SDA group collided with the leading vehicle more frequently than low SDA group. Second, neither the driver's trait driving anger(TDA) nor PA/NA yielded significant changes in SA after SDA was induced. Third, high SDA tended to lower SA but this tendency was observed only when the driver's NA was high. These results suggested that SDA than TDA is a significant deteriorating factor of the driver's SA, and more importantly, SDA should be considered with other affect-relating variable such as NA in explaining the effect of SDA on driver's SA and CA.

  • The present study aimed at examining the factor structure, reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Continuing Bonds Scale (K-CBS). In study 1, exploratory factor analysis was administered to 293 bereaved adults who had experienced the death of a loved one, and it revealed a single factor structure with 10 items that explained 52.59% of the total variance. The K-CBS showed good internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha of .92. In study 2, confirmatory factor analysis in a different sample of 200 bereaved adults indicated satisfactory standardized regression weights of all items. However, one item had a squared multiple correlation less than .40, hence, this item was discarded, and 9 items remained for the final scale. The single factor model with 9 items displayed a good fit. The K-CBS had strong positive correlation with grief symptoms, and weak positive correlation with depression. After controlling for grief, however, the K-CBS was predictive of a decrease in depression. The K-CBS was positively associated with posttraumatic growth. In addition, significant differences in scores of the K-CBS were shown among groups based on the deceased's relation to the bereaved and expectedness of loss. These results suggest that the K-CBS is a reliable and valid instrument to measure continuing bonds. Finally, implications, limitations, and directions for future research were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the Leisure Obsession Scale and examine the validity of the scale. The Leisure Obsession Scale was developed and identified its validity by exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation analysis. The Leisure Obsession Scale consists of two factors, which are 'Leisure Preoccupation' and 'Leisure Stereotype'. Those two factors indicated the reasonable fit index by confirmatory factor analysis. In addition, this scale displayed discriminant validity via measurement of obsession, workaholism, leisure anxiety, and leisure constraint. Also, the results of criterion validation analysis shows that the Leisure Obsession Scale and its subscale are correlated with measure of age, leisure information searching, intention of participation to new leisure activities, and intention of increase in leisure time. Conceptualizing leisure obsession and exploring components of leisure obsession would be valuable for understanding the nature of leisure obsession and its effects on leisure satisfaction, and suggesting more effective psychological intervention in a diverse population.

  • The goal of this study was to examine the effects of male gender role on the adjustment of Korean men. In study 1 Korean Male gender Role Scale was developed. A 52-item scale was constructed based on the responses of 432 college-aged and middle-aged men to theoretically-derived preliminary items. Five factors were extracted: achievement orientation, the initiative, task orientation, responsibility for family and friendship with male friends. Study 2 examined the relationship between male gender role and several adjustment variables. Correlational analyses indicated that in the college men self-esteem and career identity were positively correlated with the initiative and friendship with male friends was positively correlated with life satisfaction. College men's depression level was negatively correlated with the initiative and task orientation. Among the middle-aged men, self-esteem was also positively correlated with the initiative and task orientation. But responsibility for family was positively correlated with depression and job dissatisfaction in the middle-aged men. In both groups satisfaction with male gender role was positively correlated with self-esteem and life satisfaction but negatively correlated with depression. Finally, limitations of this study and direction of future research were discussed.

  • This study examined the relationship between family socioeconomic status, emotional behavioral problems, parental composition, and parents' life satisfaction, all of which are factors that affect the life satisfaction of Korean middle school students. To this end, multi-group analysis was conducted on KCYPS panel data. The results showed four major patterns. First, family socioeconomic status has a significant direct effect on the students' life satisfaction only when the student has two parents and when the student's parents have high life satisfaction. Second, family socioeconomic status only significantly influenced students' emotional behavioral problems when parents had low life satisfaction, regardless of parental composition. Third, the mediating effect of emotional behavioral problems (aggression) in the relationship between family socioeconomic status and student life satisfaction was only significant when the student had two-parents and when the student's parents' had low life satisfaction. Fourth, depression was the variable most stronly correlated with student life satisfaction. This paper discusses the limitations of this study and the impliations of its results about how to improve students' life satisfaction.

  • In this study, in order to understand the social psychological characteristics of college male students majoring in beauty, PAI tests were conducted on 163 university students located in Gyeonggi-do and Chungnambuk area in 2020. First, when comparing the average scales of men who majored in beauty and men who majored in general, the major male students of beauty showed an overall high clinically recognized type compared to students who majored in beauty, and a negative impression on a valid scale (NIM) considered treatment for physical complaints (SOM), depression (DEP) and drinking problems (ALC) on a clinical scale, and a significant difference was shown on a suicide idea (SUI) scale. Secondly, in order to navigate the PAI scale that significantly predicts beauty major male students, a stepwise regression analysis was performed using 15 significant scales as search factors in comparison between beauty major male and general major male students. As a result, physical complaints (SOM) and depression (DEP) scales were extracted, which became a factor that can predict male students in beauty major. Therefore, it can be understood that the male students in the beauty major have behavior patterns that are more obsessed with and more impulsive to physical problems than the male majors. These results will provide a lot of suggestions for the selection of future male students in beauty major, selection, management, education, consultation materials, and selection of occupations after graduation.
