  • Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the perception and its improvement of pre-service teachers regarding teaching professionalism. The subjects of this study were 41 university students who experiencing early childhood teaching practice and 41 their cooperating teachers. Methods: In order to examine perception and its improvement on teaching professionalism, teaching professionalism scale for pre-service early childhood teachers (TPSECT) that was 33 items was administrated. Data were analysed paired t-test and contents analysis. Results: First, early childhood teaching practice experience affected positive effects on the four subordinate areas of teaching professionalism: , , , and improved perception of teaching professionalism. Second, student teachers were developing teaching professionalism, in a course of early childhood teaching practice which consisted of performing teaching real children in the field, evaluating and feedback of cooperating teacher, self-reflection and re-instruction. Conclusion/Implications: For improving pre-service teachers' professionalism, except a teaching practice subject, it is necessary to open various subjects that provide practical experiences, such as, teaching real children, observing actual class. This suggests that more experiential and practical in-service education program will be demanded.

  • This paper introduces a fundamental investigation into the establishment of a framework for integrating fieldwork into special education teacher preparation programs. This paper introduces a comprehensive framework for the implementation of semester-based practicum systems in special education teacher training programs. The paper delineates essential stages including preparation, adaptation, responsibility readiness, mutual responsibility, and evaluation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, hands-on training, and feedback interactions. Moreover, the study delves into practical learning frameworks such as the Experiential Learning Model, Sociocultural Theory, and the Apprenticeship of Observation Model. It highlights their significance in connecting theoretical concepts with practical applications and in cultivating reflective practices among pre-service special education teachers. Moreover, the study explores two significant practicum models, namely the Class-Academy Model and the Professional Development Schools (PDS) Model, examining their elements, advantages, and impacts on teacher education programs. The paper provides valuable insights into improving the preparation of special education teachers by incorporating structured practicum experiences and innovative models that blend theoretical knowledge with practical application.

  • This study was conducted to confirm the differences in nursing process competence, critical thinking disposition, and education satisfaction between clinical practicum and school practicum in the prolonged COVID19 pandemic. As an inequality control post-hoc design study, 55 students who agreed to participate in the study among the third year of nursing college students who took adult nursing practice were targeted. Data were collected by classifying the students who participated in the school practicum into the experimental group(N=29) and the students who participated in the clinical practicum into the control group(N=26). The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference in nursing process competence and critical thinking disposition between the two groups. However, in the control group, overall satisfaction with education (t=-9.82, p=.040) and recommendations to other students (t=-1.88, p<.001) were found to be significantly higher. Although it was not possible to confirm the difference between the effects of clinical practicum and school practicum as a result of the study, the significance of the study could be found in that there was no difference. In line with the post-corona era, future research on the development of a practicum program consisting of various contents, teaching methods, and practice to achieve the goal of practicum and analysis of the effectiveness of the program is suggested.

  • Background: This study involved a geriatric oral care expert who developed the competencies of students in the Department of Dental Hygiene and conducted preliminary research to develop an effective curriculum. Methods: A questionnaire was conducted in the last week of class targeting students who took courses in geriatric dentistry, geriatric dental hygiene, and practice. In order to confirm the educational effect according to the differences in the geriatric dental hygiene curriculum, the differences in students' achievement of major competencies, awareness of the geriatric dental hygiene process, class satisfaction, and ageism were analyzed. Results: Regarding major competency attainment, 'communication competency' was significantly higher in PBL education that combined theory and practice than that theory-oriented PBL education (p=0.038). For ageism, the tendency to avoid older adults was low in PBL education, which combined theory and practice, and was statistically significant (p=0.040). For class satisfaction, the rate of responding 'very high' for the 'class atmosphere' was significantly high (p=0.025) for PBL education that combined theory and practice. Conclusion: The PBL teaching method can be useful as a geriatric dental hygiene curriculum. However, it would be more effective to create a curriculum so that education in geriatric dental hygiene care practice can be combined with theory rather than a theoretical education alone.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting the satisfaction with pre-service childcare, the work related stress, and the conflicts perceived by pre-service childcare teachers. The data was processed using the SPSS Statistical Package Program, and the frequencies, means, and standard deviations were calculated. Reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were also conducted. The results showed that the class contents, the environment of childcare practice, and the conflicts with children were stressful and they negatively affected practice satisfaction. Second, there was statistically significant negative correlation between the pre-service teachers' childcare practice stress, conflict during the practice, and practice satisfaction. Third, the stress of preservice teachers' childcare practice and the conflict felt during the practice also affect the childcare practice satisfaction. Based on these findings, further study is needed for implementing effective measures in order to improve the practice satisfaction with exhaustive pre-practical education and the field job-oriented curriculum. These measures will enable students majoring in childcare to experience less stress and conflicts during their education.

  • The goal of the study was to examine pre-service teachers' emotional experiences, especially during student teaching. The following questions guided this study. First, during student teaching, what are the characteristics of emotional experiences of pre-service science teachers? Second, what are used as the emotional rules and strategies by student teacher? In this study, we tracked nine pre-service science teachers over a four-week period of the student teaching. The data sources were lesson observations, interviews, emotional journals, and video-recorded classroom lessons. Results showed that student teachers experienced various 25 different types of emotions which were reported as the primary emotions of Koreans. The main subjects for interaction for positive emotions were students. For negative emotions, students, teachers and student teachers themselves all resulted in such negative emotional experiences. When the student teachers experienced negative emotions, they followed the emotional rule that their emotions should not be expressed in front of the students. Because of this, they tried various strategies for controlling emotions, such as 'understanding students', 'finding the positive side', 'seeing good students', 'ignoring', 'holding back', 'evading', and 'giving up'. Finally, suggestions for teacher education were discussed.
