The purpose of this study was to analyze the type of extended-balcony floor plan which has been reflected as a various forms after making amendment to the apartment extended-balcony legislation on December 2005 and to understand the design tendency of housing unit plan and the characteristic of living space planning by the type of size(pyeong) and extension. The objects of analysis and the plans are 333 example(235 of $84m^2$, 98 of $59m^2$) from the LH corporation competition. The design tendency of balcony space after extension is as follows; First, a type of extension for simple area to increase the area of room adjacent to balcony through balcony extension. Second, a type of functional reinforcement for private room to separate the mixed function followed by strengthening the individual function of the private room. Third, a type of ${\alpha}$-room to play new functions as hobby room, study room, soho-type room with working from home by extending balcony. Fourth, a integrated type to increase flexible efficiency of bed room, living room and kitchen by integrating extended-balcony from the flexible plan. Along with the evaluation of living style through user's environment-behavior research and the counterplan for evacuation space, indoor thermal environment and space for fulfilling the original function of balcony should be proposed in the future study.
The purpose of this study is to provide a practical guide for the actual conditions and the preference of student housing in a regional university. The data are collected through questionnaire surveys from the students of a regional university. 265 samples are collected, and are analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The results are as follows: 1) The actual conditions of student housing Most residents of student housing(76.3%) come from the Capital region. Most of student housing are located at 30 minute distance from the school. Most of house style are Offistel as one room style. Most of housing size are within 10 minute distance from the school. Most of house style are Offistel as one room style. Most of housing size are within 10py, and two people reside in one unit. The average hours of staying at the student housing are over 10 hours. The most inconvenient factor is the lack of soundproofing in the current student housing. 2) The preference of student housing The most preferred location is in the walking distance from the school, and the apartment is the most preferred housing style. The most preferred installation of inside is internet connection. When choosing student housing, students prefer the distance from the school as the most important factor. Most female students reside with a roommate within 10 py of housing size, cook for themselves, and consider rent and maintenance fee as the decision factors in choosing housing. The most preferred style of house is apartment, and they prefer to install basic furniture and kitchen system inside of housing. As students go up to higher grade, they prefer the apartment, and prefer to cook for themselves. More fresh men reside with a roommate compared to other grades. They prefer Offistel with meals service at a walking distance from the school.
Observation about space is looked steady in an instant, but in continuous movement, one's observation unconsciously stays at different points. In department store, customer actually observes around the store for buying, not focusing on certain point. By studying customer's movement and observation feature, buying desire and interest can be found. For analysis of the different searching-features according to the continuous-observation depending on sex, the study is set up to record movements of customers at women in Department store. The following are the findings. First, Men observed 0.2-0.4 units more in I-II section which are assumed as predominant. The result shows that men can focus on more section (around +0.4%) and longer (around +5.7%) than women do. Second, the same feature of observation depending on sex is that both men and women observe left and right section while keep focusing on middle section. Third, according to the fact that right-focused observation magnificently occurred in the image curved to right, the Space-composition has influenced on the observation of both men and women on the space. Forth, excessive number of display can cause avoidance of observation. Moreover, observation does not stay on the coverage due to wall or post, but is attracted to the brand name. As brand name causes right-focused observation in the image [(8)], brand name can be one of the reasons to attract observation in women apparel store. To sum up, this study is noticeable as it researches about continuous-observation. Furthermore, verifying the result that the composition of space and the placement of products can cause big differences in the observation feature is meaningful outcome.
In the 1960s, rapid urbanization and industrialization created the social atmosphere of individualism in Korea. Individualism has weakened social ties, led to the breakdown of communities, and caused various social problems. So, the paradigm is shifting to a shared society and there are moves to seek ways to solve social problems through community. As part of the initiative, the value and importance of common space in multi-unit dwelling, the typical Korean housing type, is increasing. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the trends of domestic research about common space, to assess the current state of domestic academic world and explore the future plans of the common space. The content analysis method was mainly used and statistics were additionally used to analyze 172 preceding research. As a result, research on common spaces showed a steady increase to the current time. And research was being diversified in the field of publishing journals, research contents, research methods and facilities. Until now, most studies have focused on improvement of plan and the quality of common space by identifying the attitude survey, space planning, and the actual situation. Thus many more studies about proper way to operate and manage common space need to be conducted. it is considered that the common space will develop more efficiently. The study is expected to be used as groundwork for the development of the common space and serve as concrete data to show future development directions.
With the emergence of the smart era, interest in future society and new dwelling spaces is growing. This research analyzes the planning items applied to future house pavilions in Korea to examine which functions will be more emphasized and considered importantly in the dwelling spaces. This research paper aims to identify those dwelling functions that will occupy greater importance from the users' point of view. As for the research methodology, it comprised a literature review and an analysis of case studies. The results of this research were as follows; 1) It was arranged that the dwelling functions were safety, amenity, convenience, independence, economics, society, relaxation, aesthetic appearance. 2) For future dwelling environments, environment-friendly technology for conservation of energy was important in addition to intellectual cutting edge technologies, 3) Safety was most basic among all dwelling functions, 4) Planning items related to amenity and economics were found to be most common, indicating that they were important functions in future dwelling environments, 5) With regard to convenience, planning items related to increasing efficiency of household chores through the application of ubiquitous technology were found to be most common, 6) There was no indication of planning items related to independence and society, 7) Cutting edge technology and emotional technology appear to be integrated in planning items related to relaxation and aesthetic appearance, and 8) Each future dwelling pavilion suggested that over 80% of the planning items were related to amenity, convenience, and economics. We expect that the results from our research will be useful in creating a life-centered design of future dwelling spaces that account for dwelling functions.
The purpose of this study is to analysis the change of rural house type in Gyeongbuk province. There are 13 Gun(a kind of administrative district) areas in Gyeongbuk province. According to definition of rural area, the scopes of the research of rural houses limited the 12 places rural area(Gun area, excluded Ulleung-Gun) of Gyeongbuk province. The method of study is to compare and analyze about housing situation, structure of house, housing type and housing area etc. through the statistical data of each Gun area and other various data etc. during these 5 years. As a results of the analysis : 1) The supply ratio of housing is steadily decreasing in rural areas. 2) The houses of rural areas are changing from a detached house to multi-household house and small apartment by development near the rural area. 3) The number and area of commercial buildings are gradually increasing because of urbanization of rural areas. 4) The most houses inside area scopes in the rural area was from $60m^2$ to $85m^2$ area. And the family types of rural house are changing from large family to nuclear family and single households. 5) The structure of rural houses is changing from the brick house type to lightweight steel construction house because of cost-cutting of construction and easy way to construct etc.
The body proportion of a passenger car has been changed by the demand of consumer and the market. Now the interior space proportion on a passenger car become to have the importance as the passenger space and this proportion has been changed as the new models have been developed. It didn't seems to had a unified direction or strategy in the dimensions of the domestic passenger cars on the early models, but they had a specific changes in dimensions on the later models. The proportion of the wheelbase and greenhouse can be calculated into as about 58% and 57% on the compact and sub-compact passenger cars while it is about 56% on mid-size sedan type passenger cars for thier 3-box structure body concept. The overrall proportion of the interior space is bigger on the compact and the sub-compact passenger cars than the mid-size passenger cars as the calculation shows. It can be concluded that the interior space proportion on the compact passenger cars would become larger, which is closed to 60%. And this trend would be appear on the mid-size passenger cars.
This study aims to analyze the aesthetic thought and expression tendency appeared in contemporary architecture by looking at today's architectural art based on the concept of the uncanny that Sigmund Freud contended as an aesthetic principle, of the aesthetic concepts tossed around to define the contemporary times in the aesthetics field and discuss the architectural analysis possibility of the concept of the uncanny. The generation structure of the uncanny that generates experiences of fear and surprise is classified into dual structure, trauma, threatening structure, and repetition compulsion. This is the principle that evokes a sense of experiencing subject, incorporates sensibility, and vitalizes internal process. This is also the methodology to organize and structure the concept of the uncanny. When seen from the four factors drawn from the concept of the uncanny and aesthetic expressions, the uncanny expression characteristics of contemporary architecture includes isolation, subversion, trace, absence, oblique line, flotation, concealment, and disturbance. Isolation and subversion refers to producing the space of the pressure of tension and relaxation caused by repression and relief from repression and eliciting the maximum expansion of the sense of space through spatial change. Trace and absence indicates being able to elicit more intense emotions from the experiencing subject by applying the images of alienation and absence in the way to reproduce historical trauma. This happens by implementing the potential value of physical activity. Oblique line and flotation means visual impulse. This happens in the way to visualize uneasy points. This causes uncanny by threatening the survival. Finally, concealment and disturbance refers to creating unpredictable space. The concept of masquerade and maze space composition are applied in the way to activate spatial perception, including space exploration and unintended subject's forced selection. As stated above, the uncanny expression characteristics shown in contemporary architecture can be presented as indicators that are available to analyze the undecided and diversified contemporary architecture aesthetically. In this respect, this study has great significance.
This research began by considering that, although architecture and architectural culture of the last two decades seem to have rediscovered ornament and some recent studies have reconsidered the ornamental issues of contemporary buildings, there is currently some difficulty in providing a synthetic investigation of this topic, because of the complex nature of the contemporary architectural situation. Following this premise, this research provides some reference points for further studies that will aim to expand the understanding, and attempt to classify and hypothesize the future of contemporary ornamental phenomena. Based on the assumption of the historical continuity of ornamental problems, and adopting the relation - both technical and aesthetic - between ornament and structure as one of the crucial issues to link past and present problems, the study firstly defines two categories and two sub-categories concerning the relation between ornament and structure, namely: a) ornament integral with the structure and b) ornament applied to the structure; a1) ornament visually expressing the structure and a2) ornament not visually expressing the structure. The study then reviews the historical development of ornament from ancient times to the present in the light of the above mentioned categories, and finally discusses the principles of traditional and modern ornament thus analyzed in relation to contemporary ornamental trends, as identified in selected case studies. Some common points between past and contemporary experiences are revealed in order to facilitate further investigations. In particular, the analysis shows a certain trend in contemporary architecture for a strong link between ornamental treatment and the structure of the building and a current tendency among contemporary designers to keep the exterior appearance of the building project separate from the design of the rest of the construction.
The internal streets of mixed-use commercial complexes, which are the extension of urban streets, are being changed from a mediating space aiming at movement to a staying-type space according to the change of mixed-use commercial complexes. And they function as a resting place of user with court and plaza, and act as an urban public space, and accommodate an activity arising from the gathering of many people. As a result, a role of new relaxation and community space is played in the center of the city. And the aspect of publicness is brought into relief. Hence, this study is intended to examine the characteristics that the internal streets of mixed-use commercial complexes have, and furthermore, it is intended to show the planning characteristics in the contemporary mixed-use commercial complexes. With regard to the method of research, first, space configuration and role of internal streets was examined according to the change of mixed-use commercial complexes on the basic of precedent research and literature review. And the internal streets of mixed-use commercial complexes were classified into doorway part, traffic line, and open space. And the characteristics of internal streets in the mixed-use commercial complexes through the concept of architectural 'publicness' were derived as accessibility, amenity, perceptibility, openness, connectivity and symbolism. The internal streets of mixed-use commercial complexes should be changed by the space planning to secure continuity with the city on the basis of accessibility and connectivity and to reinforce visual openness in the internal streets in order to improve amenity and perceptibility, accordingly the mixed-use commercial complexes will be also born again as symbolic public space in the city. Variously changing elements to improve publicness very importantly act on the planning of internal streets in the mixed-use commercial complexes, and therefore researches should be continuously carried out.
