The Study on Aseismic Reinforcement Method for Existing Structures Based on Shaking Table Test (진동대를 이용한 기존 건축물 내진보강공법에 대한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 내진보강공법의 내진성능향상을 평가하기 위하여 진동대실험을 실시하였다. 실험 구조체는 비보강, 보강 구조체로 각각 실규모 크기의 구조체를 2개 제작하였다. 기둥 상, 중, 하부 및 보에 각각 Strain게이지, 가속도계를 설치한 후 설계펙트럼가속도 0.15g의 30~150%까지 가속도를 증가 시키면서 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 비 보강 구조체는 0.2g에서 최대 80cm균열이 발생하였으나 보강 구조체는 균열이 발생하지 않았다. Strain의 변화량에서는 비 보강이 보강보다 최대 1700%크게 나타났다. 가속도의 변화량은 비 보강이 176%크게 나타났다. 진동대 실험결과 본 내진보강공법이 내진성능향상에 지대한 영향을 주고 있음이 증명되었다.

Evaluation of Characteristics of Ground Anchor Using Large Scale Laboratory Test (실규모 실험을 이용한 그라운드 앵커의 거동 특성 평가)

  • Ground anchor has been widely used specially for maintaining stability on reinforced cut slope in expressway. While the durability of the ground anchors should be ensured over the service life. However, the long-term loss of tensile force has occurred in most of field-installed anchors. Main causes are not clearly identified and very few studies have been made for analyzing long-term behavior of ground anchor in slopes. In this study, full-scale model tests and long-term measurements were made to obtain the load-displacement data and identified the causes of the long-term behaviors of ground anchor. As a result, the bond strength decreases exponentially with increasing water-binder ratio. Especially, groundwater is the most influencing factor to the bond strength. In the long-term behavior, the load decreases sharply until the initial settlement stabilized, and thereafter the tension force decreases constantly.

  • The earthquakes are the natural disasters that can cause the most serious damage to civil structures. Therefore, various studies are being conducted to secure the safety of structures against earthquakes. Most studies on the safety or mechanism of civil structures during earthquakes are being conducted based on lab scale test, because real structure tests are impossible when considering the scale of civil structures. The scaling factor proposed by Iai is mainly cited, but when applying the scaling factor proposed by Iai, there are many difficulties in selecting the structural members necessary for the production of the lab scale model. This is because when applying the scaling factor proposed by Iai, the scaling factor must be applied to the elastic modulus, which is the material property of the structure. Therefore, a new method based on Iai's 's similarity law for determining scale factor is applied in this study where the material property of real structure is same as that of lab-scale model. Through the results of this study, it is considered that the characteristics of the structure calculated through the lab scale model test can more accurately reflect the characteristics of the real structure.

  • 우리나라 홍수 발생은 강수량이 집중되는 여름철에 집중되어 있어 홍수피해 방지에 주의가 필요하다. 보와 제방 등 이러한 홍수 피해를 대비하기 위한 구조물에 설계를 위해서는 하천의 유량 조사가 필수적으로 요구된다. 하지만 홍수기 직접적인 유량 조사는 안전상의 이유로 거의 이루어지지지 않고 있으며, 수위를 측정하여 수위-유량 관계를 만들어 유량을 측정하고 있다. 그러나 중소 규모의 하천의 경우 하도 경사가 급해 사류가 발생하거나 하도 단면이 급변하는 경우가 있어 수위-유량 관계를 그대로 적용하기 어려운 문제가 있다. 따라서 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 하천에 진입하지 않고 유속을 측정 할 수 있는 영상유속계와 같이 흐름 영상을 사용하여 유속을 측정하는 방법들이 개발되었다. 영상유속계의 측정 방법중 Spatio Temporal Image(시공간 영상)을 사용하는 방법은 일정시간의 시간평균 유속을 산정할 수 있고 한 장의 시공간 영상을 분석하기 때문에 유속 산정에 걸리는 시간이 작은 장점이 있지만 영상 내 흐름 방향을 정확히 설정하지 못하면 오차가 생길 수 있는 문제가 있어 주 흐름 방향을 정확히 탐색할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 영상에서 시공간 체적을 만들어 주흐름 방향을 찾아내는 기법들의 장단점을 비교하고 안동 하천실험센터의 실규모 하천수로에 적용하여 결과를 비교하고 적용성을 평가하였다. 이를 위해 하천수로에 추적자를 살포하여 영상으로 녹화하였으며 녹화된 영상을 자기상관법과 시간적분법을 적용하였으며, 이를 통해 주 흐름 방향을 판별하였다. 또한 두 방법을 통해 결정된 주흐름 방향을 적용하여 시공간 영상을 제작하고 이를 이용하여 유속을 산정하여 비교하였으며, 주흐름 방향을 산정하는데 생기는 오차가 유속 계산에 얼마만큼의 영향을 끼치는지 분석하였다. 이러한 실험을 통해 하천에서 시공간 영상을 활용한 표면영상 유속계측 방법을 활용하는데 있어 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Experiment and Analysis of Real-Scale Fire Test for Establishment of Design Fire in Building Structures (건축구조물의 설계화재정립을 위한 실규모 화재실험 및 분석)

  • In this study, we looked into the method to establish fire growth rate by buildings use for growing fire at the beginning of a fire considering the characteristics of the combustibles in a performance-based design. Actual conditions survey and literature review were carried out for the fire load and exposed surface area of combustibles to establish design fire by domestic building use. As a results, a simplified prediction equation of fire growth rate which depends on fire load and weight of combustibles could be derived by calculating the relation between the fire load and the fire growth rate of an initial fire through investigation of combustibles by domestic building use.Also, as a result of analyzing the placement of combustibles and location of the ignition source, it was found that the influence of the materials of the combustibles and the materials of the combustibles adjacent to the ignition source is big. Though 4 different experiments were carried out for the evaluation, the result of comparing the findings with those of FGR model showed that the fire growth rate was similarly derived.

  • To control vibration of real-size steel structure, a hybrid-type linear motor damper was designed and applied to 30m steel structure at UNISON. The LMD was tuned to the first mode natural frequency of the building. In order to use for simulation data and control parameters, dynamic response characteristics of building and damper were tested. The response of building was reduced by 10 dB with LMD and H$\infty$ algorithm. This value was similar to the result of simulation.

  • The past few decades of industrialization enabled human-centered stream developments, which in turn resulted in constructing straight or covered streams, which are used only for sewage disposal purpose. However, these types of streams have become the cause of flood damages such as localized heavy rain. In response, various construction methods have been implemented to prevent stream and embankment damages. However, regulations regarding these measures only lay out minimum standards such as the height of slopes and the minimum angle of inclination. Moreover, examination of tractive force, the most crucial factor in preventing flood damage, is nonexistent. Therefore, this study evaluates various tractive forces by implementing a porous concrete tetrapod at a full scale artificial stream for experiment, controlling the rate of inflow, and measuring the velocity and depth of the stream under different experiment conditions. The test results of the compressive strength, and porosity and density of rock of the porous concrete tetrapod was between 16.6 and 23.2 MPa, and the actual measurement of air void was 10.1%, thus satisfying domestic standard. The result of tractive force experiment showed a limiting tractive force of $47.202N/m^2$, not satisfying the tractive force scope of $67N/m^2$ the stream design working expertise proposes. However, there was neither damage nor loss of blocks and hardpan. Based on previous researches, it can be expected that there will be resistance against a stronger tractive force. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct another experiment on practical limiting tractive force by adjusting some experimental conditions.

Structural Analysis Methods for RC Building Demolition Work under Heavy Equipment Loading (해체공사 실무자를 위한 기계식 해체대상 RC구조물의 해석기법 제안)

  • In domestic mechanical demolition work against RC building, unsuitable selection and loading of heavy equipment have led to occasional accidents such as collapse of structural members during the work. Therefore, proper analysis technique to easily decide allowable equipment load on the structure is needed at the planning stage of mechanical demolition work. In this paper, performing loading test and elastic analysis against 4-story building at full scale, we confirm appropriateness for allowable load of equipment on RC structures, which was suggested in previous study, and suggest structural analysis method that can evaluate safety of RC building during the mechanical demolition. The suggested method can be effectively utilized to improve work efficiency through safety of mechanical demolition work against RC building and proper management of equipments.

On the Hydraulic Characteristics of Efficient Long Wave Energy Absorber-Eco-breaker 2 (장파 제어체 Eco-breaker 2의 수리특성)

  • With the advent of super cargo ship due to the explosive increase in the amount of cargo shipped via seas, some mega ports are under construction in South Korea, to accommodate the super cargo ship, and some of them already enter their final phase. To sustain the harbor tranquility, mega ports usually comprise huge vertical type breakwaters which are intrinsically vulnerable to the attack of long waves. In this rationale, we present the chamber type breakwater with a circular curtain wall - Eco-breaker 2, to alleviate the reflection of long waves and numerically investigate the hydraulic characteristics of Eco-breaker 2. As a wave driver, we use the Navier-Stokes eq., the most robust wave driver, using SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) and LES (Large Eddy Simulation). For the verification of numerical results, we also carried out hydraulic model test. It is shown that Eco-breaker 2 can effectively alleviate the reflection of long waves with its inherited large organized eddies encompassing the water chamber and some region off the curtain wall of varying size. It is also shown that the scope and strength of large organized eddies strongly depends on the incident wave period, and the reflection coefficient can be lowered to 0.18 by tuning the size of water chamber such that resident time at the chamber is just short of the half period of incident waves. Based on these results, we present the specification of Eco-breaker 2 to boost its use on the development of water environment friendly harbor worldwide.

Verification on Debris Reduction Ability of the Sweeper by Real Scale Experiment (실규모 실험검증을 통한 스위퍼의 유송잡물 저감능력 검토)

  • This study is an experimental study about a facility for preventing the accumulation of floating debris at a bridge by flooding at a small river. Generally, structures installed at a small river are damaged frequently by floating debris during typhoons or localized rainfall events. On the other hand, there is no method available for preventing such damage. The facilities used in other countries to prevent such damage by the accumulation of floating debris include debris fins, deflectors, and sweeper. Among these facilities, the present study was conducted with a sweeper to investigate the damage-reducing capability through a real-scale accumulation experiment. A sweeper was installed in front of a bridge to bypass floating debris by self-rotation so that the floating debris may not be accumulate at the bridge. A small bridge model was prepared in a real-scale for the real-scale experiment. The accumulation reducing capability was compared through an accumulation experiment before and after the sweeper installation depending on the length of the debris and flow conditions. The result showed that the accumulation rate increased with increasing length of the debris or decreasing flow rate. The installation of a sweeper decreased the debris accumulation rate by a minimum of 55% to a maximum of 88% compared to the case without an installed sweeper. The result of the present study showed that the installation of a sweeper at a small river having a high potential of generating floating debris may help secure the stability of a bridge in the case of floating debris accumulation.
