  • In this paper, cross ambiguity function map is proposed to estimate the location of a unknown interferer which emits the harmful radio in the satellite communication network. To estimate the interferer, a time difference between received radio signals at earth stations and a frequency difference caused by the movement of interferers or receiving earth stations are calculated. Therefore, cross ambiguity function is used to calculate that values. The calculating process of the time and the frequency differences using cross ambiguity function is operated at every designated time then the correlation values between the time and frequency are calculated. After calcuation, the final location of the harmful interferer is estimated. From the simulation results, about 800 m distance error is occurred at 10~4 dB of $E_b/N_0$ and about 13 km distance errer is occurred at -20 dB of $E_b/N_0$.

  • Recently, small radar require the development of small millimeter wave radar with high distance resolution to disable the target's system with a single strike. Small millimeter wave radar with high distance resolution need to process large amounts of data in real time to acquire and track target. In this paper, we summarized the real-time data preprocessing method to process the large amount of data required for small millimeter wave radar. In addition, the digital IF(Intermediate Frequency) receiver, Window processing, and, DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) functions presented by real-time data preprocessing are implemented using FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). Finally the implemented real-time data preprocessing module was applied to the signal processor for small millimeter wave radar and verified by performance test related to the real-time preprocessing function.

  • RFID(Radio frequency IDentification) is a technology that automatically identifies objects containing the electronic tags by using radio wave. The multi-tag identification problem is the core issue in the RFID and could be resolved by the anti-collision algorithm. However, most of the existing anti-collision algorithms have a problem of heavy implementation cost and low performance. In this paper. we propose a new tree based memoryless anti-collision algorithm called a collision tracking tree algorithm and presents its performance evaluation results obtained by simulation. The Collision Tracking Tree algorithm proves itself the capability of an identification rate of 749 tags per second and the performance evaluation results also show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the other two existing tree-based memoryless algorithms, i.e., the tree-walking algorithm and the query tree algorithm about 49 and 2.4 times respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose an unsupervised learning method for modeling motion trajectory patterns effectively. In our approach, observations of an object on a trajectory are treated as words in a document for latent dirichlet allocation algorithm which is used for clustering words on the topic in natural language process. This allows clustering topics (e.g. go straight, turn left, turn right) effectively in complex scenes, such as crossroads. After this procedure, we learn patterns of word sequences in each cluster using Baum-Welch algorithm used to find the unknown parameters in a hidden markov model. Evaluation of abnormality can be done using forward algorithm by comparing learned sequence and input sequence. Results of experiments show that modeling of semantic region is robust against noise in various scene.

  • We propose a surveillance-alert system based on optimal placements of PDR(Pulsed Doppler Radar) sensors in USN. By using the detection information of moving target from PDR sensor and by considering the covered detection region and geographical property of the strategic area, three optimal placements of sensors are proposed. The proposed placement are named as the grid type, the linear type and the zigzag type. Also, the surveillance alert system based on three sensor placements are developed. The alert level of the proposed surveillance-alert system are 'Perception', 'Caution', 'Warning' and 'Danger' which are decided by the distance change between the moving targets and the command post. The performace of the developed system is verified via outdoor experiments.

  • The bio-telemetry technologies, that use the wireless miniaturized telemetry module implanted in the human body and transmits several biomedical signal from inside to outside of the body, have been expected to solve the problem such as the patient's inconvenience and the limit for diagnosis. In the case of transceiver system using the wireless RF transmission method, the method of three-dimensional localization for implantable miniaturized telemetry module is necessary to detect the exact position of disease. A new method for three-dimensional localization using small loop antenna in the implantable miniaturized telemetry module was proposed in this paper. We proposed a method that can accurately determine the position of telemetry module by analyzing the differences in the strength of signal, which is received at each of the small size RF receiver array installed on the body surface.

  • An investigation on nondestructive evaluation of thermal stress-nduced damage in the composite laminates (3mm in thickness and $[+45_6/-45_6]_s$ lay-up angles) has been performed using the thermo-acoustic emission technique. Reduction of thermo-AE events due to repetitive thermal load cycles showed a Kaiser effect. An analysis of the thermo-AE behavior determined the stress free temperature of composite laminates. Fiber fracture and matrix cracks were observed using the optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and ultrasonic C-sean. Short-Time Fourier Transform of thermo-AE signals offered the time-frequency characteristics which might classily the thermo-AE as three different types to estimate the damage processes of the composites.

  • We have developed a millimeter-wave radiometer system for applications in the fields of medical imaging. In this paper, we introduced the brightness temperature measurement in the human body using Millimeter-wave Radiometer. Calibration of sensitivity of the radiometer system is essential to measure equivalent temperature (brightness temperature) of objects. We have developed, as a calibration source, a new type of black body for the millimeter wave region with temperature control capability. The system noise figure and temperature sensitivity of the system measured using the blackbody are 3.3 dB and 0.1 K, respectively. The brightness temperature of human body through clothes was measured to be around $38^{\circ}$[C].

  • In this paper, an adaptive RSSD(reduced-state sequence detection) receiver is proposed for the purpose of reducing the complexity and decision delay of the adaptive MLSD(maximum-likelihood sequence detection) receiver in the mobile satellite channel. The RSSD receiver reconstructs the trellis with a reduced number of states. The performance degradation due to the reduced states is compensated by modifying the branch metric calculation which uses the symbols in each path memory to estimate the residual ISI(intersymbol interference) terms. The structure of the proposed adaptive RSSD is a modified RSSD utilizing a per-survivor processing as well as the symbol-aided method and a channel estimation using the tentative data sequences. The complexity and performance of the proposed adaptive RSSD are controlled by the number of system states and ISI cancelers and the inserting period of the known symbols. In spite of a suboptimal alternative receiver compared to the adaptive MLSD receiver, the proposed adaptive RSSD receiver is able to reduce the complexity significantly and track the time-varying channel fast and reliably.
