  • Millimeter wave (MMW) readily penetrates fabrics, thus it can be used to detect objects concealed under clothing. A passive MMW imaging system can operate as a stand-off type sensor that scans people in both indoors and outdoors. However, because of the diffraction limit and low signal level, the imaging system often suffers from low image quality. Therefore, suitable statistical analysis and computational processing would be required for automatic analysis of the images. In this paper, a real-time concealed object detection is addressed by means of the multi-level segmentation. The histogram of the image is modeled with a Gaussian mixture distribution, and hidden object areas are segmented by a multi-level scheme involving $k$-means, the expectation-maximization algorithm, and a decision rule. The complete algorithm has been implemented in C++ environments on a standard computer for a real-time process. Experimental and simulation results confirm that the implemented system can achieve the real-time detection of concealed objects.

  • The fuel cell generation convert fuel source, and gas directly to electricity in an electro-chemical process. Unlike traditional and conventional turbine engines, the process of fuel cell generation do not burn the fuel and run pistons or shafts, and it has not revolutionary machine, so have fewer efficiency losses, low emissions and no noisy moving parts. A high power density allows fuel cells to be relatively compact source of electric power, beneficial in application with space constraints. In this system, the fuel cell itself is nearly small-sized by other components of the system such as the fuel reformer and power inverter. So, the fuel cell energy's stationary fuel cells produce reliable electrical power for commercial and industrial companies as well as utilities. In this paper, a fuel cell system has been modeled using PSCAD/EMTDC to analyze its electric signals and characteristics. Also the power quality of the fuel cell system has been evaluated and the problems which can be occurred during its operation have been studied by modeling it more detailed. Particularly, we have placed great importance on its power quality and signal characteristics when it is connected with a power grid.

  • The pulse transit time(PTT), which is determined by measuring the electrocardiogram(ECG) and pulse wave, gives comprehensive information about the cardiovascular system. However, a little movement of body and/or inaccurate pressure applied to skin during the measurement of pulse wave leads to acquire incorrect results. To overcome such problem, we developed an integrated sensor system which makes it possible to measure ECG, pressure pulse wave(PPW) and photoplethysmograph(PPG) at the same time. Futhermore, we implemented a new metal electrode which enables to continuously measure ECG. We verified that both integrated sensor system and new electrode provide useful effect.

  • Since the interest of a brain science research is increased recently, various devices using brain waves have been developed in the field of brain training game, education application and brain computer interface. In this paper, we have developed a portable EEG measurement and a bluetooth based wireless transmission device measuring brain waves from the frontal lob simply and conveniently. The low brain signals about 10~100${\mu}V$ was amplified into several volts and low pass, high pass and notch filter were designed for eliminating unwanted noise and 60Hz power noise. Also, PIC24F192 microcontroller has been used to convert analog brain signal into digital signal and transmit the signal into personal computer wirelessly. The sampling rate of 1KHz and bluetooth based wireless transmission with 38,400bps were used. The LabVIEW programing was used to receive and monitor the brain signals. The power spectrum of commercial biopac MP100 and that of a developed EEG system was compared for performance verification after the simulation signals of sine waves of $1{\mu}V$, 0~200Hz was inputed and processed by FFT transformation. As a result of comparison, the developed system showed good performance because frequency response of a developed system was similar to that of a commercial biopac MP100 inside the range of 30Hz specially.

  • Recently, integrated railway safety monitoring and control system, which is a convergence system based on data distribution service for railway safety monitoring and control, is under development. It collects safety data of vehicle, signal, power and safety monitoring facilities in real time and adopts communication middleware based on distributed service for mass data processing. However, in the case of a server device used as an existing control server, the performance of the distributed service middleware can not be exhibited due to low hardware performance due to safety reasons. In the safety control system, 200,000 packets per second were set as the transmission target, but the performance test of the LAB was not satisfied. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of railway data to improve the data collection performance of existing equipment and apply DDS-based streaming transmission method to the data model of signal facilities and vehicle facilities with large packet amount according to the analysis result. As a result, it was confirmed that the throughput was improved about 30.4 times when the hardware performance was the same. We plan to improve the data processing performance by applying it to real-time railway safety integrated monitoring and control system in the future.

  • In this study, the performance of the DPRMs is evaluated and the measurement precision for the pile driving is presented. The DPRMs is a visual-measurement system for the pile rebound and the penetration movement using a high speed line-scan camera. But the measurement errors of the DPRMs are caused by the strong impact for the pile driving. Therefore, the DPRMs should guarantee its measurement values for the pile driving. For this reason, the performance of the DPRMs by the vibration signal analysis is studied. It is found from this study that the measurement values of the DPRMs are reliable.

  • Michibiki is the first QZSS satellite, which was launched by a H-IIA rocket departing from the Tanegshima in Japan on 11 September, 2010 and now operated successfully. This paper presents the results obtained from processing of the L1 C/A signal transmitted from the QZSS satellite. The acquisition and tracking are performed by the L1 software receiver implemented by ETRI. The signal processing results show that QZSS L1 C/A signal is normally processed through the tracking loop results of FLL, PLL, and DLL, the EPL correlator output, and the C/No output. Finally, the paper demonstrates that the QZSS satellite could be used in the navigation system together with the GPS satellite in Korea.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) 기술은 RF 신호를 사용하여 물품에 부착된 전자 태그(tag)를 인식하는 자동인식 기술이다.
