Recently, the government aims to discover and provide services to citizens on the development strategy for activating the U-City. So, this study aims to offer a service discovery direction by analyzing the service issues and trends. The target is newspaper article about U-City Service from 2009 to 2014. Prepared 723 newspaper article for analysis. Next step is frequency analysis of keyword and used that result for Network analysis and measure of information. Network analysis can show result through "Degree Centrality", "Betweenness Centrality" and "Closeness Centrality". As a result, "Information", "IT", "Environment", "Technology", "Center" is higher than another. These 5 keywords are important factors for driving the U-City the past six years. Information measurement results, Already U-City were put an emphasis on building the infrastructure and able to identify a trend that provided the center of the public service. Those Service field are "Tour(2009)", "Crime prevention and Disaster Prevention(2010)", "Facility Management(2011)", "administration(2012)" and "Facility Management(2013, 2014)". Result of this study found implications what on citizen participation. So, services field on the existing infrastructure should be discovered and provided. Finally, this study can expected to be a reference in the local government planning for U-City.

This study analyzed the Korean nurses association news described nurses' work-family balance for fifteen years by drawing on the qualitative thematic approach. From September 14, 2012 to February 10, 2015, data were collected by searching news articles associated with nurses' work and family balance published from 2000 to 2014 in the Korean nurses' association news online. A total of 73 news articles were used for data analysis. Two themes and ten sub-themes were derived; under the first theme of the government policy on work-family balance, the 'policies of maternity leave', 'parenting support', 'working condition improvement', and 'family-friendly culture' were identified as the sub-themes. For the second theme of Korean nurses association activities on work-family balance, the 'activities for various working shifts', 'constructing 24 hours childcare facilities', 'supporting unemployed nursing workforce development', 'healthy birth and parenting environment', 'family-friendly work environment', and 'securing nurses for nursing shortage' were identified as sub-themes. The Korean nurses association news in terms of work-family balance providing a voice for nurses regarding the benefit of maternity leave, increasing awareness of gender equality from a gender perspective, and leading the public attention to it in depth.

It has been known that predicting stock price is very difficult due to a large number of known and unknown factors and their interactions, which could influence the stock price. However, we started with a simple assumption that good news about a particular company will likely to influence its stock price to go up and vice versa. This assumption was verified to be correct by manually analyzing how the stock prices change after the relevant news stories were released. This means that we will be able to predict the stock price change to a certain degree if there is a reliable method to classify news stories as either favorable or unfavorable toward the company mentioned in the news. To classify a large number of news stories consistently and rapidly, we developed and evaluated a natural language processing based multi-stage news classification system, which categorizes news stories into either good or bad. The evaluation result was promising as the automatic classification led to better than chance prediction of the stock price change.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the seasonal issues using the local newspaper articles with the keyword beach from 2004 to 2017. Topic modeling and Time series regression analysis based on open source programs were performed for analysis. Topic modeling results showed 35 topics in spring, 47 topics in summer, 36 topics in autumn and 35 topics in winter. The common themes were 'beaches', 'festivals and events', 'accident and environmental issues', 'tourism', 'development and sale', 'administration and policy' and 'weather'. Time series regression analysis showed in the spring, 5 Hot-Topics and 2 Cold-Topic were found out of the 35 topics. In the summer, 6 Hot-Topics and 3 Cold-Topic were found out of the 47 topics. In the autumn, 4 Hot-Topics and 3 Cold-Topic were found out of the 36 topics. In the winter, 3 Hot-Topics and 3 Cold-Topic were found out of the 35 topics. And for each season, topics that do not fall into the Hot-Topic and Cold-Topic are classified as Neutral-Topic. In this study if seasonal uses are different such as beaches are deemed that seasonal topic modeling for analysis of regional issues will yield more useful results and enable detailed diagnosis.

This study examined how the three major newspapers covered the press reform movement in Korea. Despite that the NGOs and Korean government keep trying to reform the market and structure of the newspapers, the targeted newspapers argue that they are unjustly accused of the dominance of the press market made by the readers' choice. Using frame analysis and discourse analysis, this study analyzed the news coverage on the press reform for 6 months and revealed that these major newspapers presumed to be targeted were totally challenging against the press reform by means of flaming of news and using news discourse. The ways of challenge were, firstly they appealed to the readers that the press reform is the press suppress so that they have to fight against this unacceptable pressure. And secondly, they report the news selectively for their own interests by elaborating, magnifying, or reducing the facts. Thirdly, they attack the government policies and major figures leading the press reform by letting the outside columnists favorable to their own standing point. And finally, they conduct the poll on and off and report what they want according to their self interests.

Local paper has basically a close relationship to local autonomy for which the ultimate goals are regional development and the promotion of resident welfare. In addition, it is able to have considerable effects on the politics and administration in the region. In Korea where the history and experience of local autonomy is not long, the roles of local paper have been stressed more in the sense that local community is larking in a series of mechanism to control regional politics and administration. On the basis of such relationship of two, in this paper will be empirically analyzed the tendency on how local paper had reported them after revitalizing of Korean local autonomy of 1991. For this, content analysis was used as the method for examining of the tendency. All articles concerning local autonomy were collected from editorial, commentary, remarks, and special topic series from Maeil-daily newspaper, which is being issued in Daegu and Gyoungbook regions. This study could find the distinctive trend of reporting, and also recommended the desirable roles for local paper according to the results revealed in the trend analysis. To mature local autonomy, especially, this study suggested that local parer needs to search a way that ran get the subject of reports diversify as well as ran make an in-depth reporting.

Although fatalities due to child abuse are frequently happened, there has been a dearth of research on the topic. The present research analyzes deaths due to child abuse in representative newspapers in order to examine incidences, causes, and characteristics of child abuse. The results showed that from 2000 to 2012 child abuse deaths occurred 141 cases. Most deaths due to child abuse were committed by single mothers, biological mothers, cohabiting women and stepmothers, and biological fathers. As regards the reasons of deaths due to child abuse, the frequency of newborn infant deaths as the result of abuse by single mother or single parent was the highest, and lack of parenting skills, postpartum depression, hardships of living and lack of financial abilities were followed. Also, subjects received extensive media coverage were crime compositions-stereotypes of child abusers, habitual and continual child abuse, lack of child abuse reporting and prevention system, and mild penalties. Finally, based on the results of the study, the implications to prevent and resolve deaths due to child abuse were discussed.

This study was attempted to identify the status of the work of the PA and provide the direction and evidence of policy making on the PA scheme. A convergence study was conducted to analyze a total of 23 articles of papers and Internet news through systematic review methodology. A literature search was performed using KISS, NDSL, RISS, National assembly library, and 11 major domestic daily newspapers and Youth Medical Newspaper. The analysis of eight papers showed that the PA's work-related exhaustion, job stress, unclear scope of work and lack of regulations reduced job satisfaction. Through 15 press articles, it was understood that it was urgent to establish a legal system and education system for qualifications and work as professional medical personnel amid a conflict of positive and negative opinions of related agencies. In order to increase the utilization of PA in the future, it is necessary to secure institutional devices suitable for Korean affairs and prepare educational programs.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to have diachronic understanding of holiday stress that has become the social issues through the analysis on the news articles about holiday stress from 1993 to 2016. Method: For this purpose, 416 articles and 457 cases about holiday stress from 5 daily newspapers such as Chosun Ilbo, Joongang Ilbo, Dong-A, Hankyoreh and Kyunghyang Shinmun etc. have been analyzed, conducting the qualitative and quantitative analysis together. Results: Firstly, the articles on holiday stress have been increased, showing the rapid increase per year for the last 20 years. It is presumed to be closely related to the socio-economic situation. Second, although there have been 'married women' overwhelmingly as the subject of holiday stress, the frequency of the young generation has been increasing recently including the 'married women'. Third, the 96.7% of the contents from psychological appeal appeared in the case of holiday stress is related to family values. Especially, the holiday stress related to 'value of patriarchy' was the biggest stress. However, there has been increasing holiday stress caused by 'value of kinship' and 'value of marriage' recently. Forth, as a countermeasure against the holiday stress, the 'perception on the change of family values' has been quantitatively suggested and it has become actively appeared in terms of contents after mid-2000s. However, it has been appeared low in terms of quantity and content recently. Conclusions: This study has significance since it has been verified that the holiday stress started from 'married women' but it has been expanded to the young generation and it is related to the change and co-existence of family values of our society.

According to Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann, people do not live understanding the objective existence, but live defining the reality that is socially constructed. This study analyzed the frame of news report dealing with public figures to inquire into the following subjects: Which group is defined as a public figure? Which role and obligation are required for a public figure? Which standard can be set to judge right and wrong of behavior of a public figure? The research result shows that the press mentioned with most frequency politicians and broadcasting-related people as public figures. In case of politicians, the press focuses most on scandals related to their duties and qualities, while in case of broadcasting-related people, the press focuses most on scandals relevant to ethical problems.
