  • The life expectancy of people has been steadily extended due to the improvement of living standards and the development of medical technology. Besides, the low birth rate and long life expectancy decrease the youth population while the elderly population is steadily increasing. Many elderly people have enough time and financial allowance, and the interest in health care is increased all over society. There are also increasing numbers of elderly people who exercise lightly in the playgrounds and parks such as running and walking. Outdoor fitness equipment that can be easily seen in neighbourhood parks, public spaces, etc. can be good health promotion tools that can be easily accessed in the daily life of the elderly. Outdoor fitness equipment Description Signs require a design that takes into account the declining vision of older users. Proper design is also important for the prevention of safety accidents in use. The purpose of this study is to find out the perception of the elderly about outdoor fitness exercise equipment sign system and to find the problem of recognition. To do this, we conduct user observation and interview surveys for the elderly. As a result, the emphasis of the caveat or problems with the size of the writing were pointed out, and it was necessary to explain the picture rather than the text. Also, there was a high demand for refraining from using foreign words, using universal words and including motor effects in signs. Based on the results of the user observation and interviews, we propose guidelines for the use of outdoor exercise equipment.

For this purpose, the study set up the three research questions and employed in-depth interviews with ten production people: First, production people find out senior radio listeners who have been very royal attendance of the program for a long time. And they examined senior listeners prefer to listen about health care, information about elderly life and singing contest. They have been made para-social interaction with master of ceremonies (MC). Second, unlike other radio program, the senior radio program has concentrated on the radio station's image and public interest rather than financial profit and viewing rate. Normally, it was known that radio program for senior used carried on break of the day. But some program has been broadcasted on prime time in the afternoon. Target audience of senior radio program has been expanded over the forties and the fifties from sixties. Thirdly, in general the role of producer is critically important to produce program. However, MC and scriptwriter are far more experienced and specialized on the field than producer in radio program for senior.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the elderly generation's understanding of game information and for recognition of computer based games as a recreation activity for the mid-to late adults. This study investigated game use and personal thoughts about the influences of computer games on each generation. The study was conducted by survey with the subjects being 242 adults aged 40 to 72 living in Busan and Kyung-nam area. Findings indicated that 43.5% of adults used computers to access games. The purposes for computer use were: business, searching portal sites, and games. 44.8% of adults knew about game information education. 67.4% of adults who had someone as a game information resource reported that their children provided the game information. Most adults used arcade games and recognized the influences of game information as positive to adults and the elderly but negative to children and adolescents. Finally, the adults aged "after mid-life" who knew about game information education showed higher ego-integrity and psychological well-being. These findings have implications for the development of elderly education programs aimed at promoting quality of life for older adults.

Written questionnaires completed by 244 the new-elderly(95men, mean age 60.02 years/ 149women, mean 62.04 years) were analyzed. As a result, the main findings of our study were: First, Among men, the duration of friendship was longer than among women. The most common initial acquaintance among men were co-workers, followed by schoolmates and old playmates, while friends made through leisure and volunteer activities or in the neighborhood were more common for women. Second, Factor analysis revealed the following two factors: 'trust and support', and 'companionship'. Among both men and women, the degree of satisfaction with friendship was positively correlated with subjective well-being, and the study suggested that the level of 'trust and support' influenced the degree of satisfaction with friendship. And expand the scale, because the future looked at the gender gap in the center is considered that there is a need for comparative studies specific age groups.

  • The number of patients with cardiovascular diseases who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) are increasing among young adults as well as the aged population. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is vital in improving survival rates of OHCA victims. Survival rates of OHCA were shown to decline exponentially in time to defibrillation, yet studies in Korea are uncommon that captures the properties of their survival rates in examining optimal locations of AEDs. In this study, we worked on the maximal gradual coverage location problem (MGCLP) with exponential decay coverage function to decide on their optimal locations. The exponential decay coverage function mitigates the drawback of over-estimating survival rates of OHCA patients. It is expected that a more sophisticated facility location problem will be developed to identify the "emergent" characteristics of pedestrians who responds to the OHCA occurrence by incorporating random pedestrian locations and movement through simulation.

  • Korea has been suffering from financial hardship with low birth rate and rapid growing of advanced aged people because low economic growth and low interest rate have continued after IMF foreign-exchange crisis. Under these circumstances, it is necessary for the middle-aged people to have well-prepared retirement plan in the sense of physical, psychological, social and economical preparedness. The study intends to find out how the occupation and activity characteristics affect the physical, psychological, social and economical preparation for their remaining old age. For the purpose, questionnaires were collected from 344 middle-aged people working in private companies, public offices and small-business owners in metropolitan and Chungcheong province. The findings are as follows: First, they were physically well-prepared, as they thought their leisure activity was more important, their occupational role was more stable and they were old and healthy. Second, Women had notion about their occupation if they kept a good relationship with their colleagues. And they were psychologically prepared well as they valued their leisure activities. Third, if they perceived their occupations as stable and had more social and leisure activities, they were socially well-prepared. Fourth, Although the level of economical preparation depends on their wealth, the occupation and activity characteristics had no effect on the economical preparation. These findings imply that the retirement preparation as a recent social issue has been influenced by the nature of occupation and activity and suggest that the definite policy and program will be required for the retirement preparation of the middle-aged people from various aspects.

  • It is well understood that liposarcoma is most common in soft tissue sarcomas. It usually develop proximally in the extremities and most patients are older than 50 years. We report a case of huge liposarcoma which develop on left thigh of 67-year-old man. There was no evidence of metastasis and the tumor was successfully removed by marginal resection. Patient's height is 153 cm and weight is 43 kg, but the tumor's size is $34{\times}20{\times}9\;cm$ and weight is 2.82 kg. The Mass is severely huge in compare with patient's height and weight. But, There are few reports regarding the correlation between tumor-size and pathologic differentiation. Pathological examination reveals a well differentiated liposarcoma. The patient is still asymptomatic at 6-months follow up.
