Syringe Reuse Issues in Automated Contrast Injection System in Dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (조영제 자동주입기를 활용한 자기공명영상 동적검사 시 실린지 재사용의 문제)

  • This study proves that syringe reuse of automated injection system entails a risk of contrast media reflux and saline solution contamination which are pumped by a piston into the patients' venous cannula in the dynamic MR images, we will be aware of the serious problem. To quantify the contrast media contamination effect on the saline solution, identical volume of the saline solution was collected before and after the contrast injection to the patients' venous cannula following T1 weighted image scanning to verify whether signal intensities differences are observed. The signal intensity of saline solution after the contrast injection was significantly higher than that of saline before injection by 523.43%. This result is due to the backflow that contaminates the saline solution on the opposite side when the contrast agent is injected. In conclusion, the syringe used to inject contrast medium. causes cross-contamination due to contrast reflux. Therefore, even if the same patient's examination is used for quantitative analysis, the error should be avoided by changing the acquisition sequence or replacing the syringe.

Effects of Gamma Irradiation on Quality in the Processing of Low Salted and Fermented Shrimp (감마선 이용 저염 새우젓 제조시 품질변화)

  • 식품첨가제의 사용없이 저장성과 품질이 우수한 저염의 새우젓을 rokf하기 이한 바업으로 방사선 조사기술을 이용하였다. 식염농도를 각각 10%, 15%, 20%로 조절한 새우젓에 감마선을 조사한 후 15$^{\circ}C$에서 발효시키면서 일반성분, 염함량, 수분활성도, pH, 총균수 및 관능적 품질 변화를 조사하였다. 감마선 조사직후 및 발효기간 중 일반성분과 식염함량 및 수분활성은 감마선 조사에 의해 영향을 받지 않았다. 새우젓의 총균수와 pH는 식염농도와 감마선 조사선량이 높을수록 변화가 적었다. 관능검사 결과, 15%의 식염 첨가와 10 kGy의 감마선 조사 및 20%의 식염첨가와 5 kGy 이상의 감마선 조사를 병용처리한 새우젓을 발효시킨 경우 비조사구에 비해 적절한 미생물의 생육 억제로 저장기간 연장 효과를 보였고, 발효 10주까지도 관능적 품질이 적합하게 유지되었다.

Effects of Oral Administering Kefir on Blood Glucose Levels in Diabetic Mice (Kefir의 투여가 당뇨병 마우스의 혈당치에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of oral administering kefir on blood glucose levels in diabetic mice. Kefir($10\;m\ell/kg$ body weight) was orally administered to diabetic mice twice daily for 45 days. Diabetic mice fed saline or 10% skim milk were used as a control. No significant difference in feed intake and weight gain were observed among the treatments. Compared to the saline-fed or skim milk-fed group, blood glucose in the kefir-fed group decreased significantly at 45 days(p<0.05). At 45 days, serum triglyceride and non-esterified fatty acid concentrations in diabetic mice fed kefir decreased significantly compared to those of the saline and skim milk groups(p<0.05). Both high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein concentrations were not significantly different among the three treatment groups. In conclusion, the symptoms of diabetic mice improved when kefir was fed for >45 days.

The effects of saline soaking on the removal torque of titanium implants in rabbit tibia after 10 days (0.9% 식염수 담금이 레이저 처리 임플란트의 초기 치유기간의 회전 제거력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to confirm if Laser-treated implants were soaked in 0.9% NaCl solution for 2 weeks could increase the surface hydrophilicity, and the Remoal Torque of each implant that inserted in rabbit tibia for initial healing period of 10 days. Materials and methods: Twenty machined titanium surface screws were produced with a diameter 3 mm, length 8 mm. Ten screws had their surface treated with a laser only (laser treated group), and the other 10 were soaked in saline for 2 weeks after surface treatment with a laser (laser treated + saline soaked group). Implants were inserted in rabbit tibia (ten adult New Zealand white rabbits), and the RTQ of each implant was measured after 10 days. The wettability among implants was compared by measuring the contact angle. Surface composition and surface topography were analyzed. Results: After 10 days, the laser treat + soaking group implants had a significantly higher mean RTQ than the laser treated implants (P = .002, < .05). There were no significant morphological differences between groups, and no remarkable differences were found between the two groups in the SEM analysis. Conclusion: Saline soaking implants is expected to produce excellent RTQ and surface analysis results.

Preparation of Low Salt and functional Kochujang Containing Chitosan (키토산을 함유하는 저식염 기능성 고추장의 제조)

  • In order to manufacture the low salt and functional Kochujang, salt amount was reduced to 6% and chitosan was added to 0.25% to the Kochujang preparation. The contents of ash, moisture, crude fat and crude protein in Kochujang were not affected by the reduced salt concentration and chitosan addition. pH and titratable acidity were not significantly changed by the addition of chitosan. Ethanol content was higher in 6% salt Kochujang tan in 9% salt Kochujang and decreased by the addition of chitosan. Reducing sugar content was lower in 6% salt Kochujang than in 9% salt Kochujang and increased by chitosan addition. $\alpha$-Amylase activity was slightly inhibited by the addition of chitosan, however, $\beta$-amylase, acidic protease and neutral protease activities were not affected. Amino nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen contents were higher in 6% salt Kochujang than in 9% salt Kochujang, but ammonia nitrogen production was significantly decreased by chitosan addition. Also the growth of bacteria and yeasts were slightly inhibited by the addition of chitosan. From the above results we concluded that 0.25% chitosan was the good concentration to prepare the low salt and functional Kochujang.

Influence of Ginseng upon Nucleic Acid Content of Bone Marrow in Rats (인삼이 흰쥐의 골수조직 핵산 함유량에 미치는 영향)

  • As a part of efforts to elucidate the influence of Panax Ginseng upon nucleic acid content of various tissues, a study was carried out which measured RNA and DNA contents of bone marrow following administration of ginseng. Thirty male rats $(body\;weight:\;180{\sim}230\;gm)$ were equally divided into a ginseng and a saline group. Once a day for 5 days they received subcutaneously 0.5 m1/100 gm body weight ginseng extract solution (4 mg of ginseng alcohol extract in 1 ml of saline), and the same amount of saline, respectively. On the 5th experimental day, all animals were sacrificed 2 hours after the last medication and the bone marrow of one femur was removed. RNA and DNA contents of the bone marrow were measured using the chemical method of Schmidt Thannhauser-Schneider. Results obtained were as follows 1. RNA and DNA contents of the bone r arrow were significantly higher in the ginseng group than in the saline group. 2. RNA/DNA ratio of the bone marrow was also much higher in the ginseng group than in the saline group. The ginseng is inferred to augment RNA and DA contents, and also raise RNA/DNA ratio of the bone marrow in rats.

  • 심한 화상환자를 치료하는 동안이나 피부이식을 하는 동안에 어떻게하면 환자를 따뜻하고 안전하게 보호할 수 있을까? 사용할 용액들, 홑이불, 수술대, 회복실 침대를 따뜻하게 준비해 놓고 에어컨을 끈다. 너풀거리는 꺼즈를 잘 다듬어 놓고 stockinette도 준비한다. 피부이식을 위하여 피부를 떼어낸 부위에도 화상부위와 마찬가지로 질산은 드레싱을 하며 피부에 식염수나 기름종류는 사용하지 말아야 한다.

The Effect of Red Ginseng Extract on Superoxide Dismutase Activity in the Kidney of Gamma-ray Irradiated Mice (홍삼 투여가 방사선에 조사된 생쥐 신장의 Superoxide Dismutase에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was prepared to observe the change of enzyme activities in kidney treated with red ginseng extract in the gamma ray irradiated mice. Determine the activity of SOD, peroxidase, catalase in the kidney a period of 1 day, 2 day, 3 day, 4 day, 5 day after a saline injection or injection of red ginseng extract or gamma ray irradiatied group into four classify. The activity SOD and catalase showed a tendency to increase and recovery at the early state but pay no regard. Wherease, the activity of peroxide restored and increased pay regard. A physiological saline injection group after gamma ray irradiation showed a tendency to diminish after remakable increase of activity of SOD, peroxidase and catalase than control group. Injection group of red ginseng extract after gamma ray irradiation observed rapid recovery on activity of SOD, peroxidase, catalase than a saline injection group. Experimental result suggested that injection of red ginseng extract after irradiation have the recovery effect on the changed of activity of SOD, peroxidase and catalase against radiation injury.

식염을 첨가한 계육의 부위별 최종가열온도 측정을 위한 근장단백질의 이용

  • 본 연구는 계육의 가슴과 다리부위에서 2%의 식염을 첨가하여 $64^{\circ}C$부터 $74^{\circ}C$까지 $2^{\circ}C$ 간격으로 가열하여 pH와 일반성분, 가열감량, 단백질 용해성 그리고 단백질 분획의 변화를 비교 분석하였다. pH는 2%의 식염을 첨가한 것과 온도별로는 차이가 없었지만 다리부위가 가슴 부위보다 높았다. 일반성분 중 수분과 지방 함량은 식염을 첨가한 것과 차이는 없었지만 수분과 지방 모두 다리부위가 높게 나타났다. 단백질 용해성은 가슴부위가 높게 나타났으며 온도가 증가할수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었지만 식염의 첨가에 따른 차이를 보이지 않았다. 색도에 있어서는 L 값은 가슴부위에서 a 값은 다리부위에서 높게 나타났다. 각 부위에서 가열온도와 식염처리에 영향을 받은 단백질 분획은 다리부위에서 75 kDa와 가슴 부위에서 58 kDa 와 44 kDa이 가열온도 $66{\sim}68^{\circ}C$에서 사라졌다. 또한 원료육에서 다리부위에서 약92,80,60.5 kDa의 분자량을 갖는 단백질이, 가슴부위에서는 90,68,48 kDa의 분자량을 갖는 단백질이 원료육에서만 나타났다. 이러한 근장 단백질 분획은 최종가열 온도 측정을 위한 지시제로서 좋은 자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

On the effect of saline immersion to the removal torque for resorbable blasting media and acid treated implants (Resorbable blasting media 및 산처리한 임플란트의 제거회전력에 생리식염수를 적시는 것이 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the titanium implant soaked in saline after RBM and acid etched surface treatment on the initial osseointegration by comparing the removal torque and the surface analysis compared to the titanium implant with only RBM and acid etched surface treatment. Materials and Methods: The control group was RBM and acid etched surface treated implants (RBM + HCl), and the test group was implants soaked in saline for 2 weeks after RBM and acid etched surface treatment (RBM + HCl + Sal). The control and test group implants were placed in the left and right tibiae of 10 rabbits, respectively, and at the same time, the insertion torque (ITQ) was measured. After 10 days, the removal torque (RTQ) was measured by exposing the implant site. FE-SEM, EDS, Surface roughness and Raman spectroscopy were performed for the surface analysis of the new implant specimens used in the experiments. Results: There was significant difference in insertion torque and removal torque between control group and experimental group (P = 0.014 < 0.05). Surface roughness of experimental group is higher than control group. Conclusion: Saline soaking after RBM and acid etched surface treatment of titanium implants were positively affect the initial osseointegration as compared to titanium implants with only RBM and acid etched surface treatment.
