A great number of institutions around the world have been building digital repositories to communicate scholarly information. Meanwhile, digital repositories have been struggling with how to preserve increased volume of digital contents for the long term and how to build a sustainable information environment. The HathiTrust partnership was established to meet the need of a sustainable collaborative model of digital repositories in research libraries, mainly in North America, and has been expanded globally by signing with other libraries around the world. This paper is dealt with the establishment, operation and policy, construction status, and user service of the HathiTrust. The results presented in this paper include the benefits and potential opportunities of the HathiTrust as a participating member. Partnership in HathiTrust would allow each member institution to provide more cost-effective operations, shared management and long-term preservation of digital content, ease of copyright management, and increased accessibility. In the future it is expected to provide a shared storage of printed materials and to facilitate a big data research center.

Overseas direct investment is constantly on the rise, while domestic investment has been slowing and has led to concerns that the expansion of overseas investment may be weakening domestic investment. Considering the change of environment as economic growth, this paper analyzes the relationship between domestic and overseas investment using a regression tree. The result shows that overseas investment substituted domestic investment in the past (before 1985); however, they compensated for each other during the rapid growth period based on exports (1986-1997). The relationship turns out to be insignificant after the Asian currency crisis(after 1998). In addition, this paper also examines the factors determining domestic facilities investment and overseas direct investment at each stage of the changes in their influence due to globalization. Taking into account the results, we need to re-evaluate the current pattern of corporate investment apart from the past restricted point of view to help domestic enterprises efficiently utilize the international production network and resources.

This study was conducted to develop a technique of ecosystem health assessment on Korea National Parks. The purpose of natural resource monitoring in national parks is to develop scientific information on the current status and long term trends in the composition, structure, and function of park ecosystems, and to determine how well current management practices are sustaining those ecosystems. The evaluation results will reflect in the park conservation and polices and promote the effect and functions of assessment program to the people. Health assessment steps were performed in order the establishing monitoring goals and objectives, development of the conceptual model, frame establishment, determination of indicators, standard and classification and health assessment. Health Indicators were selected the 13 with common, choice and climate indicators. We developed a pictogram and was separated into five colors to health condition, it was divided into three shape for comparison with the past state. Seoraksan, Odaesan National Park has been rated highly but Bukhansan, Kyeryongsan National Park has been underestimated.

Numerious agencies are trying to install many surveilance systems in their jurisdiction. A mashup,is a page, or application, that uses content from more than one source to create a single new service displayed in a single graphical interface. The main characteristics of a mashup are combination, visualization, and aggregation. It is important to make existing data more useful, for personal and professional use. To be able to permanently access the data of other services, mashups are generally client applications or hosted online. This study is utilizing mash-up technology to provide suitable location scheme for monitoring and surveilance system in order to utilize existing infrastructure and to provide better service to the public.

In our general life, what we recognize information with our human eyes and use it is diverse and massive. But even the current technologies improved by artificial intelligence are exorbitantly deficient comparing to human visual processing ability. Nevertheless, many researchers are trying to get information in everyday life, especially concentrate effort on recognizing information consisted of text. In the fields of recognizing text, to extract the text from the general document is used in some information processing fields, but to extract and recognize the text from real image is deficient too much yet. It is because the real images have many properties like color, size, orientation and something in common. In this paper, we applies an adaptive edge enhanced MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions) to extract the text area in those diverse environments and the scene text, and show that the proposed method is a comparatively nice method with experiments.

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the local residents' attitudes toward adjacent recreation forest development sites. 20 items of residents' attitudes were designed from previous tourism impact studies. For this study, two recreation forest areas were selected. In 1995, a total of two-hundred and four local residents were interviewed in their villages near the two recreation forests. A 5-point Scale was used to record the answers. Most respondents were concerned about two negative impacts of the recreation forests development : small economic gains for the residents and damage to the local environment. There were significant differences in certain socioeconamic characteristics of the respondents. Specially, significant differences were identified between the variables of income or non-income from visitors and residence length. Results indicate that recreation forests development may not be perceived as positive as hoped by the government. Further research needs to be conducted on the impacts of present and projected recreation forest development at the local level.

Ultrasound technology can be applied in various fields including environmental, energy, and material engineering processes. In this study the effect of liquid height/volume on calorimetric energy and sonochemical oxidation was investigated as one of the basic steps for the design of water/wastereater treatment sonoreactors. The liquid height was increased from 0 to $4{\lambda}$ by $1/4{\lambda}$ and it was found that both calorimetric energy and sonochemical oxidation were significantly increased at relatively high liquid height/volume where the power density was relatively low. The sonochemiluminescence (SCL) images for the visualization of the activity of cavitation also showed that larger and more stable active zone was formed with high SCL intensity at high liquid height/volume. Therefore, it was revealed that sonoreactors for water/wasterwater treatment could be significantly effective in terms of removal efficiency and energy consumption.

Demand analyses often assume perfect substitution and some level of aggregation before analysis and data collection. Earlier works on this subject are carried out in the context of ordinary demand systems. However, perfect substitution is a degenerate special case in the systems and it is much more easily handled in a system of marginal value functions and no previous analysis has used the marginal value functions to test for perfect substitution and make possible aggregation with prior restrictions. In this article, we present the empirical results on a system of marginal value functions in fisheries and pose testable results of perfect substitution and aggregation. The contribution of this article is new establishment of a set of restrictions implying perfect substitutability among all commodities and the application to the problem of commodity aggregate. A system of marginal value functions is estimated in fisheries and its implication of perfect substitution is reasonably drawn.

There has been remarkable growth in the study of the role played by affect in advertising in the past 16 year. The research of the role in advertising has studied in different perspectives, provide guidelines for practicers. But the evidence of these research have limits to service advertising creative strategy, because of no integrated framework. The goal is to provide broad assessment and insight of the role played by affect in advertising from academic literature. This article are discussed the concept relating affect, the type of advertising appeal, affect and context effects, affect and individual different in reponses, affect and attitude toward the ad in advertising. Finally, from a critical analysis of state knowledge, this article suggested 5 directions for future research in the recommended areas.

The international community reached an implicit consensus that knowledge management will be the core of our civilization in the next millenium. This dissertation is to view the knowledge management from the point of information science rather than from the standpoint of the business management, which has been the trends of our academic circle so far. The underlying reason is simple, knowledge is the center of the knowledge management and other factors like humans, organization and culture are merely peripheral elements required to apply knowledge in a more appropriate and efficient manner. This paper looks at knowledge-sharing system as the heart of knowledge management emphasizing significance of the procedures such as validation and valuation and knowledge management processes. Adding to this, I dare to say the term 'Information technology Infrastructure' should be changed into'Information Infrastructure' since knowledge itself and how to express them play a more important role in knowledge management than the information technology does.
