  • We analyzed the angular dependence of ferromagnetic resonance linewidth in exchange coupled CoFe/MnIr bilayers. The maximum and minimum linewidth was observed in the easy and hard direction of unidirectional anisotropy by exchange coupling, respectively, and it was well agreed with the angular dependence of exchange bias field. The maximum linewidth was due to the twist of CoFe magnetization near CoFe/MnIr interface from direction of pinned MnIr spin to direction of applied magnetic field. While, minimum linewidth more higher than that of CoFe was related to rotatable anisotropy field, and explained by easy axis distribution of MnIr grains.

  • This paper presents a new speed sensorless vector control scheme of Spindle Induction Motors(SIM) which can be successfully applied to at any speed including even zero speed. The proposed sensorless vector control of SIM uses rotor flux estimator with a variable bandwidth. This approach is based on the Closed-Loop Rotor Flux Observer(CLRFO) which includes a variable bandwidth of the PI controller. For low speed operation, the bandwidth of CLRFO has a variable bandwidth structure according to the estimated rotor velocity. The experimental results show the satisfactory operation of the proposed sensorless algorithm.

  • This paper presents an estimation procedure for axial displacement in spindle equipped with angular contact ball bearings due to rotational speed. High-speed spindle-bearing system experiences axial displacement due to thermal expansion and rotational speed-dependent characteristics of angular contact ball bearings. This paper deals with the axial displacement caused by the rotational speed-dependent effects such as centrifugal force and gyroscopic moments. To this end, a bearing dynamic model is established that includes all the static and dynamic properties of angular contact ball bearing. An analytical formula to calculate the axial displacement based on contact angles between ball and races is derived to discuss the physics regarding the axial displacement in spindle. The proposed dynamic model is compared with a reference and a commercial program. Numerical examples are presented to show the effects of centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment on the axial displacement. The proposed model is also validated with an experimental result.

  • According to the demand of the high productivity, the interest of manufacturing skills is growing in industrial society. Especially the high-speed spindle in machining center becomes important these days. The rotating accuracy of the spindle in machining center concerns the centrifugal force. In detail explaining, it is influenced by the unbalance mass. In this study, we could find changes of the vibration caused by condition (increased mass, rotating speed, position) of unbalance mass and verify it using a software - $ADAMS^(R)$ With this study, it will help workers on the spot solve the problems concerning unbalance mass.

  • We measure the ferromagnetic resonance signals in order to analyze the exchange coupling energy due to the uncompensated antiferromagnetic spins in exchange coupled CoFe/MnIr bilayers. The exchange bias fields ($H_{ex}$) and rotatable anisotropy fields ($H_{ra}$) are obtained from the ferromagnetic resonance fields measured with in-plane angle in thermal annealed samples with $t_{AF}$= 0, 3, and 10 nm. The sum of the $H_{ex}$ and $H_{ra}$ do not depend on the MnIr thickness, which means that all the uncompensated AF spins are aligned to one direction in $300^{\circ}C$ annealed samples. Therefore, the uncompensated AF spins are divided into two different parts. One parts are fixed at the interface between CoFe/MnIr bilayers and induces the $H_{ex}$, other parts are rotatable with magnetic field and induces the $H_{ra}$. Finally, the exchange coupling energy can be expressed by the sum of the exchange bias energy and rotatable anisotropy energy.

  • The rotation of a spindle unit must be accurate for high-quality machining and to improve the quality of the machine tools. Therefore, the proper measurement of the rotation accuracy and ensuring a proper analysis are very important. Separate processes are necessary because spindle errors and roundness errors associated with the test balls can both factor into the measured rotation error values. We used three methods to discern test ball errors and analyzed which could be deemed as the most proper technique in a test of the rotation accuracy of the main spindle of a machine tool.

  • Various ZnO/Ag/ZnO multilayers were fabricated and their optical properties were investigated. Top and bottom ZnO layers were formed by sol-gel method and mid-metal layers were deposited by spin coating. To find suitable deposition condition of Ag, we measure thickness and sheet resistance of Ag monolayer. After the optimization of Ag monolayer, we fabricate ZnO/Ag/ZnO multilayers. Transmittance of ZnO/Ag/ZnO multilayers increased to 63%. In near IR region, transmittance of ZnO/Ag/ZnO multilayers decreased to 35% when the concentration of Ag solution was 2.5wt%.

  • A large five-axis gantry-type machine performs cutting operations by moving the gantry, along with a bed. During operation, there are three sources of position (zig-zag) errors: 1) the position difference between two control motors on the X axis, 2) friction difference from the different column weights, and 3) torque of the rotating spindle. This study improved the performance of a gantry-type machine by analyzing these three error sources. We changed the mass of a column in the gantry structure and measured the effect on the friction result. We also studied the spindle torque influences on the movement performance of the gantry in relation to the spindle rotation.
