  • The brilliant achievements in computers and the internet technology make it easy for users to get useful information. But at the same time, the damages caused by intrusions and denial of service attacks are getting more worse. Specially because denial of service attacks by internet worm incapacitate computers and networks, we should draw up a disposal plan against it. So far many rule-based intrusion detection systems have been developed, but these have the limits of these ability to detect new internet worms. In this paper, we propose a system to detect intrusion and generate detection rule against scan-based internet worm, paying attention to the fact that internet worms scan network to infect hosts. The system detects internet worms using detection rule. And if it detects traffic causing by a new scan-based internet worm, it generates new detection nile using traffic information that is gathered. Therefore it can response to new internet worms early. Because the system gathers packet payload, when it is being necessary only, it can reduce system's overhead and disk space that is required.

  • This paper deals with an effective algerian aimed at improving the port scan detection in an intrusion detection system (IDS). In particular, a detection correlation algerian is proposed to maximize the detection capability in the network-based IDS whereby the 'misuse' is flagged for analysis to establish intrusion profile in relation to the overall port scan detection process. In addition, we establish an appropriate system maintenance policy for port scan detection as preprocessor for improved port scan in IDS, thereby achieving minimum false positive in the misuse detection engine while enhancing the system performance.

  • This paper presents a new secure scan design technique to protect secret key from scan-based side channel attack for an Advanced Encryption Standard(AES) core embedded on an System-on-a-Chip(SoC). Our proposed secure scan design technique can be applied to crypto IF core which is optimized for applications without the IP core modification. The IEEE1149.1 standard is kept, and low area and power consumption overheads and high fault coverage can be achieved compared to the existing methods.

  • In order to solve the problems that fingerprinting technologies and image identification technologies for digital music and videos identification scanned have not yet been enough to identify scanned cartoon books, the copyright project granted from the Korea Copyright Commission(Project title: Identification and Copy Protection Technology of Scanned Text/Comic Books) secured basic solutions for scanned cartoon books. The first result of the research project in 2013 was focused on the identification technology applied to abnormally scanned cartoon books. As subsequent research for the project, studies in the year of 2014 has been to provide solutions to identify cartoon books which abnormally scanned and occurred with transformations and distortions and solutions to protect the system from trials to devitalize functions of the identification system through various attacks. This paper is to propose a model for a system for identifying abnormally scanned cartoon books as a way of enhancing the identification rates for identifying abnormal bookscans and transformation attacks.

  • As Worm Virus & DDoS attack appeares, the targets and damage of infringement accidents are extending from specific system or services to paralysis of the network itself. These attacks are expending very frequently and strongly, and ISP who will be used as the path of these attacks will face serious damages. But compare to Worm Virus & DDoS attack that generally occures in many Systems at one time with it's fast propagation velocity, network dimensional opposition is slow and disable to deal with the whole appearance for it is operated manually by the network manager. Therefore, this treatise present devices how to detect Worm Virus & DDoS attack's outbreak and the attacker(attacker IP adderss) automatically.

  • In this paper, an improved detection system for the network vulnerability scan attacks is proposed. The proposed system improves the methodology for detecting the network vulnerability scan attacks and provides a global detection and response capability that can counter attacks occurring across an entire network enterprize. Through the simulation, we show that the proposed system can detect vulnerable port attacks, coordinated attacks, slow scans and slow coordinated attacks. We also show our system can achieve more global and hierarchical response to attacks through the correlation between server and agents than a stand-alone system can make.

  • IEEE 802.15.4[1] has been standardized for the physical layer and MAC layer of LR-PANs(Low Rate-Wireless Personal Area Networks) as a technology for operations with low power on sensor networks. The standardization is applied to the variety of applications in the shortrange wireless communication with limited output and performance, for example wireless sensor or virtual wire, but it includes vulnerabilities for various attacks because of the lack of security researches. In this paper, we analyze the vulnerabilities against the denial of sleep attacks on the MAC layer of IEEE 802.15.4, and propose a detection mechanism against it. In results, we analyzed the possibilities of denial of sleep attacks by the modification of superframe, the modification of CW(Contention Window), the process of channel scan or PAN association, and so on. Moreover, we comprehended that some of these attacks can mount even though the standardized security services such as encryption or authentication are performed. In addition to, we model for denial of sleep attacks by Beacon/Association Request messages, and propose a detection mechanism against them. This detection mechanism utilizes the management table consisting of the interval and node ID of request messages, and signal strength. In simulation results, we can show the effect of attacks, the detection possibility and performance superiorities of proposed mechanism.
