  • In this study, a criteria for the SWAT model calibration method in SWAT-CUP which considers multi-site and multi-variable observations was presented. For its application, the SWAT model was simulated using long-term observed flow, soil moisture, and evapotranspiration data in Yongdam study watershed, investigating the hydrological runoff characteristics and water balance in the water cycle analysis. The model was calibrated with different parameter values for each sub-watershed in order to reflect the characteristics of multiple observations through one-by-one calibration, appropriate settings of model simulation run/iteration number (1,000 simulation runs in the first iteration and then 500 simulation runs for the following iterations), and executions of partial and all run in SWAT-CUP. The flow simulation results of watershed outlet point, ENS 0.85, R2 0.87, and PBIAS -7.6%, were compared with the analysis results (ENS 0.52, R2 0.54, and PBIAS -22.4%) applied in the other batch (i.e., non one-by-one) calibration approach and showed better performances of proposed method. From the simulation results of a total of 15 years, it was found that the total runoff (streamflow) and evapotranspiration rates from precipitation are 53 and 39%, and the ratio of surface runoff and baseflow (i.e., sum of lateral and return flow, and recharge deep aquifer) are 35 and 65%, respectively, in Yongdam watershed. In addition, the analytical amount of available water (i.e., water yield), including the total annual streamflow (daily average 21.8 m3/sec) is 6.96 billion m3 per year (about 540 to 900 mm for sub-watersheds).

  • In this study, the development purpose is to replace steel Tie Rod of commercial vehicle to the carbon composite by a braiding process. CFRP tie rod was designed to meet the performance requirements of existing products by designing the cross section of the core for braiding weaving and the structural design of the joint between the core and the carbon fiber. The specimens were fabricated by braiding method and applied to structural analysis through test evaluation. The manufacturing process proceeded from braiding to infusion through post-curing process. The test evaluation of the final product was satisfactorily carried out by sequentially performing tensile test, torsion test, compression test and fatigue test. In addition, the weight of CFRP tie rod could be reduced by about 37% compared to existing products.

  • A single-crystal sapphire is used as a transparent bulletproof window material; however, few studies have investigated the dynamic behavior and fracture properties under high-speed impact. High-speed and high-resolution sequential images are required to study the interaction of the bullet with the brittle ceramic materials. In this study, a device is developed to capture the sequence of high-speed impact/penetration phenomena. This system consists of a speed measurement device, a microprocessor-based camera controller, and multiple CCD cameras. By using a linear array sensor, the speed-measuring device can measure a small (diameter: up to 1 2 mm) and fast (speed: up to Mach 3) bullet. Once a bullet is launched, it passes through the speed measurement device where its time and speed is recorded, and then, the camera controller computes the exact time of arrival to the target during flight. Then, it sends the trigger signal to the cameras and flashes with a specific delay to capture the impact images sequentially. It is almost impossible to capture high-speed images without the estimation of the time of arrival. We were able to capture high-speed images using the new system with precise accuracy.

  • This study evaluated thermal image real-time estimation and fire alarm using by a CCD camera, which has been a seamless feature-point analysis method, according to the angle and position and image fusion by a vector coordinate point set-up of equal shape. The system has higher accuracy, fixing data value of temperature sensing and fire image of 0~255, and sensor output-value of 0~5,000. The operation time of a flame specimen within 500 m, 1000 m, and 1500 m from the test report specimen took 7 s, 26 s, and 62 s, respectively, and image creation was proven. A diagnosis of fire accident was designated to 3 steps: Caution/Alarm/Fire. Therefore, a series of process and the transmission of SNS were identified. A light bulb and fluorescent bulb were also tested for a false alarm test, but no false alarm occurred. The possibility that an unwanted alarm will be reduced was verified through a forecast of the fire progress or real-time estimation of a thermal image by the change in the image of a time-based flame and an analysis of the diffusion velocity.

  • A finite element based approach that can be used to investigate the plane-view shape and crop loss of a material during plate rolling is presented. We employed a three-dimensional finite element model to continuously simulate the shape change of the head and tail of a plate as the number of rolling passes increases. The main feature of the proposed model lies in the fact that the multistage rolling can be simulated without a break because the rolling direction of the material is reversibly controlled as the roll gap sequentially decreases. The material constants required in the finite element analysis were experimentally obtained by hot tensile tests. We also performed a pilot hot plate rolling test to verify the usefulness of the proposed finite element model. Results reveal that the computed plane-view shapes as well as crop losses by the proposed finite element model were in good agreement with the measured ones. The crop losses predicted by the proposed model were within 5% of those measured from the pilot hot plate rolling test.

  • In this paper, the optimal placement of the rotary wing's communication and navigation antennas was evaluated by measuring their performance through ground simulations and flight tests. To select the mounting position of the communication and navigation antenna on the helicopter, after considering the shape and characteristics of the airframe, the radiation patterns, coupling analysis, equipment operation profiles, and antenna type analysis were performed for the aircraft-mounted antenna. Based on the analysis results, a procedure for sequentially performing voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) measurement and antenna pattern test was established through ground and flight tests of the antenna. The systematic performance measurement method and procedure proposed in this paper were verified through ground and flight tests of the Light Armed Helicopter (LAH) system.

  • To investigate the relation between pore fluid conductivity and bulk resistivity of a rock sample it is assumed that electrolyte solution perfectly substitute the pore fluid that occupied the pore space within the sample in general. In this study, it is investigated that how much can the electrolyte solution substitute the pore fluid by repeating the same saturation process. Four kinds of NaCl solutions of 8, 160, 3200, 64000 ${\mu}S$/cm are used. The saturation process has repeated four times for each electrolyte in increasing conductivity order first then four times each in decreasing order. The more the saturation process repeated with the same electrolyte, the more electrolyte solution substitute the pore fluid. Geometric mean of bulk resistivity in increasing and decreasing orders with the same electrolyte solution is assumed to be mostly close to the bulk resistivity with perfect substitution. Bulk resistivity measurements for both increasing and decreasing order differs within 10% to the geometric mean when repeating the saturation process 4 times while maximum 40% difference is observed when single saturation process for each electrolyte solution with increasing order. The modified parallel resistant model can generally represent the relations between pore fluid resistivity and bulk resistivity in the experiment, but more experimental data with various rock samples with different porosity is needed to generalize the model.

  • Undetectable faults in a digital circuit are faults that no input patterms can detect.Identifying these faults in test geferation process is very time- consuming especially for sequential circuits .In this paper we present a new algorithm to identify unedtectable faults in sequential cirouits .In the alorithm. we identify uninitializable fip-flops and then, faults that prevent intialization of the fkip-flops(FPIs)are identified, finally propagation path of the FPI is checked. Time complexity of this algorithm is porportional to the product of the number of flip flops with at lest a self loop and the number of gates in the circuit. Experiments were performed on the ISCAS89 benchmark ciruits to show the feadibility of the proposed algorithm. We could identify large amount of undetectable faults(up to 50% of the number of flip-flops)in circuits with uninitializable flip-flops. Consider-ing that most of the time in test generation is cinsumed in identifying undetecatable faults, performance of test generator can be improved by using this algorithm as a pre-processing of test generation.
