  • This study investigates the effect of wrist guards equipped with electronic muscle stimulation on reducing wrist pain and improving wrist function of actual lure fishing participants. This study combined conductive fabrics by selecting two products of wrist guards that can be used in lure fishing, which requires holding fishing rods with hands for a long time. It was conducted on ten healthy men aged 35 to 45, and the selection conditions were selected for those who did not have a history of surgery on the wrist and are currently enjoying lure fishing as a hobby. The experimental movement was performed 100 times before each experiment to cause delayed muscle pain to cause wrist fatigue when lure fishing was performed with the operation of grip strength and range of motion. As a result of this study, it was found that pain reduction, range of motion, and grip strength were improved when electrical stimulation was applied after wearing a wrist band in the form of a wrist wrap and semi-gloves. The conclusion of this study was that when electrical stimulation was applied to the wrist guards, the effect of improving the fatigue and function of the wrist could be confirmed through experiments. Through this study, it is expected that wearing electronic muscle stimulation wrist guards will have a significant effect on preventing wrist injuries and improving functional recovery for lure fishing participants.

  • Objective : This study aimed to assess the reliability of a three-dimensional (3D) motion analysis program for measuring the range of motion (ROM) of wrist and finger joints. Methods : The study recruited 50 people who had no restrictions on wrist and finger movements, understood the purpose of this study, and agreed to participate. Using a goniometer and a 3D motion analysis program, a total of 11 wrist and finger ROM were measured once each. To measure the reliability of the 3D motion analysis program, the degree of agreement and inconsistency of the measured values were compared. Results : Analysis of the degree of agreement of the measured values revealed that 38 out of 44 items showed a very high degree of agreement. Regarding analysis of inconsistency in the measured values, inconsistencies were found in three items. Conclusion : The results of this study confirmed that the ROM of the joint could be measured using the 3D motion analysis program applied in this study. In addition, it might be expected that the 3D motion analysis program would be used in various clinical fields owing to the advantages of measurement convenience and accuracy.

  • This study focused on to design and toanalysis of a myoelectronic hand. We considered a low frequency factor in human life and to quantify low frequency which a human body responded to using a 1-axis ant a 3-axis accelerometer. The dynamic myoelectronic hand are important for tasks such a continuous prosthetic control and a EMG signal recognition, which have not been successfully mastered by the most neural approached To control myoelectronic hand, classifying myoelectronic patterns are also important. Experimental results of FEM are 110㎫ on Thumb, 200㎫ on Index finger, 220㎫ on Middle finger 260㎫ on Ring finger and 270㎫ on Little finger. Experimental results of accelerometer are 1.4-0.4(m/s2) ,(5-20(〔Hz〕) in Feeding activity and 0.4-0(m/s2) (0-10〔Hz〕) in Lifting activity. Considering these facts, we suggest a new type myoelectronic hand.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate impact of wearing low-level current wrist guards on pain scale, range of motion (ROM), and muscle strength in elderly women with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Subjects were 12 elderly women aged between 65 and 85 years who were diagnosed with CTS symptoms. Measurements included grip strength and wrist ROM. Wrist ROM was assessed through flexion and dorsiflexion. Wrist guards were worn. After two weeks, pain level was assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results showed a significant reduction in VAS score in the MES group after stimulation, whereas there was no difference in the control group. However, there was no significant difference in ROM between the MES group and the control group. Grip strength increased in the MES group after two weeks (p ≤ 0.001). In conclusion, clinical trials suggest that MES wrist guards might be provided as an adjunctive treatment method for CTS patients. This study provides foundational data for the design and use of auxiliary devices such as gloves in the field of MES research for pain reduction, ROM improvement, and muscle strength enhancement resulting from CTS.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine whether wrist stabilization exercise combined with taping would improve wrist pain, disability and quality of life in postpartum women with wrist pain. Seventeen wrist pain patients were recruited and were randomly divided into two groups: experimental group (n=8) and control group (n=9). Participants in both groups received taping therapy for 30 minutes before the intervention. Additionally, subject in the experimental group performed wrist stabilization exercise using theraband for 15 minutes (twice a day, five times a week for four weeks) while the control group conducted range of motion exercise for the same amount of time. VAS was used to assess pain level of wrist. Disability was measured using a DASH. Quality of life were measured by SF-36. The wrist pain in the experimental group improved significantly greater than the control group (p<0.05). Significant improvement in the disability was observed in the experimental group compared to the control group (p<0.05). The SF 36 in the experimental group improved significantly greater than the control group (p<0.05). Our findings indicate that wrist stabilization exercise combined with taping is beneficial and effective to improve wrist health and quality of life in postpartum women with wrist pain.
