An empirical Bayes estimator of the probability of discovering a new species is proposed when some prior information is available on the number f species. The new estimator is shown via simulations to have only a moderate bias and a smaller RMSE than Good's estimator when the species population follows a truncated geometric distribution.

When the sample size is small, exact tests are often employed because the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is in doubt. The advantage of exact tests is that it is guaranteed to bound the type I error probability to the nominal level. In this paper we review the methods of constructing exact tests, the algorithm and commercial software. We also examine the difference between exact p-values obtained from exact tests and true p-values obtained from the true underlying distribution.

In this paper, we propose two Buckley-James type nonparametric estimators for entropy of lifetimes under random censorship model. We investigate the small sample behaviors of the proposed estimators when the underlying distribution has decreasing failure rate, constant failure rate, and increasing failure rate. Also some examples are illustrated for analysing data.

The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the frequency of consumption of sports drinks and energy drinks and aerobic physical activity in the 6-29 year old group in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The sociodemographic characteristics, aerobic physical activity, and beverage intake of the subjects were calculated using composite sample descriptive statistics, and the mean difference between groups was analyzed by cross-tabulation, χ²-test, and binary logistic regression analysis. High-intensity aerobic activity was analyzed as an increase in the intake frequency of sports drinks(ionic drinks, vitamin drinks) and energy drinks(high-caffeine drinks) (p<0.05). Compared to moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity, high-intensity aerobic physical activity was analyzed as a factor influencing the increase in beverage intake frequency. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical activity and beverage consumption, which is a critical issue for promoting health both now and in the future, and to developed an intervention program based on the findings. Through this study, we aimed to gather basic data that can help people live healthy lives, and raise both individual and societal awareness of the importance of making better beverage choices.

A total of sixteen Xylotrechus species from the Korean peninsula are recognized, including a newly recorded species, Xylotrechus pavlovskii Plavilstshikov, 1954. We present brief descriptions of the Korean Xylotrechus species, except four species which could not be examined in this study. The geographic distribution, host plants, illustrations for each species, and a key to the Korean Xylotrechus species are provided.

본 연구는 이변량 회귀모형을 이변량 자료에 적용할 때 이변량 자료(분리형 자료) 이외에 이변량 자료를 합산한 일변량 자료(통합형 자료)를 동시에 사용하는 문제를 고찰하였다. 특징을 파악하기 위하여 설명변수가 하나인 경우를 다루었는데 통합형 자료의 첨가효과를 회귀계수의 추정량의 평균제곱오차의 크기로서 측정하면서 효과와 이변량 모형과의 관계를 조사하였다. 최대우도 추장량의 특성으로부터 대표본의 성질을 추출하고 또한 모의실험을 통하여 소표본에서도 대표본의 성질이 만족하는지 조사하였고 끝으로 실제 자료에 적용하여 보았다.

본 논문에서는, 신뢰성분석에서 고려되는 평균고장률의 추이에 관한 검정법에 대해 연구하였다. 즉, 수명분포가 지수분포를 따르는지 또는 수명분포의 평균고장률이 증가하는지를 검정하는 검정통계량을 제안하였다. 제안된 검정통계량은 순서통계량의 선형 함수의 형태로 이루어져 있고 대표본 뿐만 아니라 소표본에서도 쉽게 적용될 수 있다. 또한 제안된 검정통계량의 점근상대효율을 평가하기 위해, Klefsjo(1983)가 제안한 검정통계량과 비교하여 보았다.

확률화 블록 계획법에서 우산형 대립가설에 대한 점근 분포 무관 검정법을 제시하고 제안된 검정통계량의 점근적 정규성과 모수적 방법 및 비모수적 방법의 점근상대효율을 관찰하였다. 검점통계량은 블록 효과를 추정하여 제거한 관측치의 전체 블록 순위를 사용하여 제안하였으며 제안된 검정통계량의 소표본 Monte Carlo 연구를 통해 실험 검정력을 비교하였다. 그 결과 본 논문에서 제안된 검정통계량이 꼬리가 두꺼운 분포에서는 전반적으로 우수하고 로버스트한 것으로 나타났다.

일반화 감마분포(generalized gamma distribution)에서 지표모수(index parameter)에 대한 추론은 생존시간(lifetime)과 관련한 모형의 선택문제에서 매우 중요하다. 이에 대한 정확한(exact) 추론법은 알려져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 이에 대한 점근적(asymptotic) 검정법으로 소표본에서도 우도비 검정에 비해 효율이 뛰어난 Bartlett 검정을 제안하고, 이의 요율적 수행을 위한 대체 모형으로 부터의 누율계산(cumulant computation) 법을 제시하였다. 또한 실제자료에 대해 본 논문에서 제시한 누율계산과정을 이용하여 Bartlett 검정을 실시한 결과 기존의 우도비 검정과는 상당히 큰 차이가 남을 확인하였다. 따라서 모형의 선택 등의 문제에서 제안된 방법은 소표본의 경우에 더욱 효율적이라 할 수 있다.

임상실험이나 신뢰성공학 분야에서 임의 중단자료를 이용한 비모수적 신뢰도 추정량으로 Kaplan-Meier 추정량과 Nelson형 추정량이 많이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 Nelson형 추정량은 평균제곱오차의 관점에서 Kaplan-Meier 추정량보다 추정능력이 우수한 반면 편의는 신뢰도가 감소함에 따라 양의 방향으로 점증하는 소표본 특성을 갖는다. Nelson형 추정량의 이러한 특성 때문에 신뢰도의 함수로 표현되는 잔여수명 분위수함수 등의 추정시에는 평균제곱오차의 관점에서 Kaplan-Meier 추정량보다 추정능력이 떨어짐을 볼 수 있다. 이러한 점을 고려하여 이 두 추정량을 가중평균으로 통합한 새로운 비모수적 신뢰도 추정량을 제안하고 추정량의 특성을 비교 분석하였다.
