This study determined the communicative characteristics of public libraries through locality, communality, interactivity, and organism and sought to measure the validity of their components to define the role of libraries based on the analysis. According to the analysis results, there are four communicative characteristics of public libraries: locality, communality, interactivity, and organism. This study defined the role of public libraries according to communicative characteristics. First, libraries should encourage the formation of a healthy society by providing a space for diverse community activities, contributing to the building and strengthening of their local communities, and offering the necessary information to do so. Second, libraries should contribute to the formation of local cultural communities and strengthen interpersonal relations among community members to reinforce a sense of community, while also supporting the heightening of social adaptability to foster a sense of belonging and community activity participation among members. Third, libraries act as a space for sharing ideas between generations, provide a space to carry out leisure activities, and enable the cultural prosperity of local communities. Lastly, as a representative space of local communities, libraries raise the value of the residential environment and contribute to their communities and members.

This study, as primary research that examines the communication characteristics of the library and the perception of librarians in order to make public libraries a communication space, surveyed the perception of librarians in public libraries and made an attempt to devise activation measures for the communication spaces of the library. As a result, the communication characteristics of the library were derived to be locality, community spirit, and interactivity. In addition, the perception survey found that librarians have positive remarks about the communication spaces of the library. As it shows a high degree of awareness, the library should focus on ways to revitalize communication. First, the direction of communication must be set in order to fulfill library's new role in communication and exchange. Second, it is desirable for the library to free itself from being a quiet space and recreate it as a space for communication. Third, the library needs to exchange and connect with organizations, groups, and gatherings of the community. Fourth, it seems necessary for the library to provide support for the users' independent and voluntary communication and operation of the community.

The ultimate aim of this work is to explore the antecedents that affect the loneliness felt by users who actively communicate through smartphones apps. To do this, three characteristics including individual, relational, and communication characteristics that can affect loneliness and the effects of these characteristics on loneliness are empirically analyzed. The research results are as follows. First, we found that conflict resolution ability had a significant effect on interpersonal conflict and loneliness. Second, social stress was found to have a significant effect on interpersonal conflict, communication fatigue, and loneliness. Third, lack of communication was found to have a significant effect on conflict resolution ability and loneliness. Finally, we found that communication fatigue had a significant effect on loneliness. These results are interpreted that in order to reduce the loneliness, it is necessary to continuously improve the ability to wisely resolve conflicts that may arise in the relationship between oneself and others. In addition, it is necessary to reduce the fear or burden of building relationships with others.

본 연구는 간호대학생들의 일반적 특성과 의사소통 능력, 학업적 자기효능감이 셀프리더십에 미치는 영향력을 확인하기 위해 간호대학생 중 임상실습 경험이 있는 3, 4학년 318명을 대상으로 수행되었다. SPSS Window 20.0 프로그램을 이용한 자료 분석 결과 일반적 특성 중 여자이며, 동아리 활동을 하고 있고, 대학생활 만족도가 높으며, 리더십 교육을 받았고, 리더 경험이 있다고 자신이 인식하는 경유가 그렇지 않은 경우보다 셀프리더십이 유의하게 높았다. 셀프리더십은 의사소통능력(r=.537), 학업적 자기효능감(r=.417)과 양의 상관관계를 보였고, 의사소통 능력(${\beta}=.418$), 학업적 자기효능감(${\beta}=.187$)은 셀프리더십에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 확인되었다. 또한 이 2개 변인의 설명력은 33.3%(F=13.167, <.001)였다. 그러므로 셀프리더십 향상을 위하여 간호대학생들의 의사소통 능력, 학업적 자기효능감을 향상 시킬 수 있는 교육을 통해 간호의 전문적인 목표 달성과 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

사이버 공간이 현실 생활의 일부분으로 통합되어가고 사이버 공간에서의 대인간 의사소통이 보편적인 현상으로 나타남에 따라 사이버 공간에서의 의사소통과 경험 그리고 그것의 영향력에 대한 논의는 그 동안 많이 있어왔다. 그러나 기존의 연구들은 사용자의 행동 특성에 따라 사이버 공간에서의 활동과 영향력, 그리고 그 의미가 달라진다는 점을 간과하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 동일한 커뮤니케이션 공간인 싸이월드도 그것에 부여하는 가치와 의미는 사람마다 다르고 따라서 행동도 다를 것이라는 가정하에, 싸이월드에서 나타나는 다양한 이용행동과 활동들을 유형으로 분류하고 그 유형에 따라 싸이월드에서의 의사소통 패턴과 경험, 활동에서의 차이를 살펴보고자 했다. 사전 연구로 진행되었던 사용자 인터뷰를 통해 정리된 행동문항을 전체 설문을 통해 분석한 결과 싸이월드에서 보이는 개인의 행동적 특성을 의미하는 5 개 요인(적극성.몰입, 낯선 사람과의 연결과 정보 추구, 사생활 보호, 단순한 연락 수단, 폐쇄성)이 확인되었고, 이렇게 추출된 행동 요인을 토대로 싸이월드에서 나타나는 3 개의 행동 유형(적극적 활용형, 폐쇄적. 다이어리 추구형, 새로운 관계.정보 추구형)이 구분되었다. 행동 요인의 차이로 표현되는 3 개의 행동 유형에 따른 싸이월드에서의 의사소통 패턴과 싸이월드에서의 활동 그리고 싸이월드 경험에 대한 평가를 분석한 결과 행동 유형간에 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 동일한 싸이월드라는 공간이 사용자가 추구하는 가치와 목적에 따라 각기 다른 공간으로 기능하고 있음을 보여주었다는 데에 의의가 있으며, 가치의 차이로 나타나는 행동 유형에 따라 싸이월드에서 소통하는 대상과 방식이 달라지고 경험의 의미 또한 달라질 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to verify whether the concept of time conveys meanings similar to nonverbal communicative elements in foreign language education. This study surveys cultural traits of time from the French cultural education perspective. Anthropologist Edward T. Hall points out that each cultural community has developed a different perception of time and experience, and that time conveys the meaningful message nonverbally similar to the nonverbal elements such as space, gesture, eye movement, and facial expression. I investigated the time experiences of a drinking party in France and in Korea, from a cultural relativistic point of view. The subject of a drinking party was chosen on the ground that a drinking party is highly related to most people's daily lives and it also indicates how they have a relationship with others. I sought a new direction in foreign language cultural education by analyzing how cultural differences between the two communities, especially the relationships between individuals and organisations, ways to separate leisure and labor, and the nonverbal elements, are presented in the two drinking parties.

Along with the development of computer graphics, real-time rendering, motion capture, and artificial intelligence technology, virtual being that enables two-way communication has emerged in the content industry. Although the commercialization of technologies and platforms is creating a two-way communication virtual being, there is a lack of analysis of what characteristics this virtual being has and how it can be used in each field. Therefore, through technical background survey and case study for the production of virtual being, the two-way communication virtual being is analyzed on the characteristics necessary for emotional exchange. The characteristics needed for emotional exchange were divided into interaction, individuality, and autonomy, and this characteristic is classified as the focus and how two-way communication virtual being will be used in the content field. This study is expected to provide significant implications for the research of content production and utilization using virtual being as a basic study of virtual being, which analyzes the technical background and characteristics for two-way communication required for virtual being production.

This study discusses on the influential factors of satisfaction in communication by focusing on the political communication phenomenon that is revealed in our society. The acts of political communication and its communication satisfaction are examined by exploring individuals' political inclination and their media usage which are the main influential factors of political communication. An interview survey was conducted on a thousand adults over the age of nineteen who are residing in sixteen cities and provinces nationwide. As a result, a high rate of online media usage was observed among people with progressive political inclination. It showed that the political communication acts of 'writing/communicating' which indicates ons actively posting their personal opinions, has a positive influence on communication satisfaction. On the other hand, the usage of offline media was dominant over people with conservative and neutral political inclination. A passive act of 'reading/watching,' which is to observe other people's opinions, was shown by most of the interviewees. Therefore, it was able to discuss that in order for a harmonious flow of political communication among our society, the understanding of citizens' political characteristic must be preceded and the differentiated political communication using media must be raised accordingly.

This study analyzed the differences of the sex-role attitude, communication, and marital satisfaction according to a demographic factors as well as analyzed the relationship of the effects on sex-role attitude(sex-role awareness, sex-capacity awareness), communication(close relationship, exclusive relationship, passive relationship), and marital satisfaction of elderly couples. The survey was conducted from June 20 to July 30, 2012 among the elderly couples aged 60 or older in the Gyeonggi-do areas, and 378 responses were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression analysis. As a results, there were partially differences in the sex-role attitude, communication, and marital satisfaction. The sex-role awareness and sex-capacity awareness had a positive impact on close relationship and passive relationship of the communication. But the sex-capacity awareness had a negative impact on exclusive relationship of the communication. In addition, The sex-role awareness and close relationship had a positive impact on marital satisfaction, but exclusive relationship and passive relationship had a negative impact on marital satisfaction of elderly couples.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between overt and covert characteristics of stuttering. This study included 10 adult participants who stutter. To analyze the overt characteristics, stuttering frequency, duration of stuttering moments, concomitant behaviors, and total score were scored based on the Stuttering Severity Instrument-Fourth Edition (SSI-4). Additionally, the modified Erickson scale of communication attitudes (S-24) and the Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering for Adults (OASES-A; general information, reactions to stuttering, communication in daily situations, quality of life, and total score) were used to determine the covert characteristics. Correlation analyses showed no significant association between the overt and covert variables. However, there were significant correlations between the scores on the S-24 and the OASES-A. These findings support the perspective that the overt characteristics of stuttering do not predict the covert characteristics, and vice versa. Therefore, when evaluating and intervening with adults who stutter, it is important to consider these characteristics separately.
