Experimental Study on the Reological Properties of Carbon Nano Materials as Cement Composites (탄소계 나노소재를 적용한 시멘트 페이스트 복합체의 유변학적 특성에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the rheological properties of cement paste composites applied with carbon-based nano-materials were experimental analyzed. Flow table and rheological properties, compressive strength were measured in the cement paste using graphene oxide asqueous solution and carbon nanotube aqueous solution. When carbon nano-materials was mixed in an aqueous solution, flow decreased and plastic viscosity and shear stress were increased. In particular, graphene oxide rapidly increased the plastic viscosity and shear stress. In the case of carbon nanotube aqueous solution, when less than 0.2 % was mixed, the increase rate was low compared to graphene oxide. This is because the specific surface area of graphene, which is in the form of a plate, is large. The compressive strength showed a small amount in strength increase when graphene mix, and CNT had a strength about 112 % of OPC. Carbon-based nanomaterials, is considered that CNT are suitable more to be used construction materials. However, extra studies on the surfactant to be used for mixing proportion and dispersion will be needed.

Feasibility Analysis of Wasted Limestone Powder as a Viscosity Reducing Material for Cement Based Materials (시멘트 계열 재료의 점도 저하용 혼화재료로서 폐석회석 미분말의 사용 가능성 분석)

  • The aim of the research is providing a fundamental idea of reducing viscosity of cement based materials by replacing powder based material. With developing concrete technology, high performance concrete with high solid volume fraction has been used widely. Under the conditions of the high solid volume fraction due to the low w/c and replacement of SCMs, decreased fluidity is one of the critical problem, and thus plasticizer has been used to improve fluidity of the mixture. However, in rheological aspect, the fluidity of cement based materials can be defined with yield stress and viscosity, and using plasticizer only decreases yield stress without least controlling on viscosity. Therefore, based on the idea of Krieger-Dougherty model, a feasibility of wasted limestone powder from cement manufacturing process was used to decrease the viscosity of the mixture by replacing cement powder. According to a series of experiment, by replacing wasted limestone powder solely, there was a possibility of reducing viscosity was observed. Thus, in this research scope, it is considered to contribute on providing a fundamental idea of reducing viscosity with powder replacement and it is expected to contribute on further research using various conditions of replacing powders for reducing viscosity of cementitious materials.

Studies on Rheological Characteristics of Red Pepper Pastes (고추장의 유동(流動) 특성(特性)에 관(關한) 연구(硏究))

  • Rheological behaviors of red pepper paste acre investigated with rotational viscometer at $25{\sim}55^{\circ}C$ and the following results were obtained. 1. At shear rate of $0.323{\sim}1.653\;sec^{-1}$, red pepper paste was found to be a thixotropic food product which showed pseudoplastic proper ties and also exhibited a yield stress and time dependent characteristics. 2. At a shear rate of 0.978 $sec^{-1}$, flow behavior index, consistency index and yield stress were 0.597, 192.3 dyne $sec^s/cm^{2}$, and 91 dyne/$cm^{2}$ respectively. 3. Variation of consistency of red pepper paste with time was found to be decayed by a second order kinetic equation and thereafter nearly time independent. 4. Variation of consistency of red pepper paste with temperature was found to follow Andrade's equation and the activation energy as calculated on the basis of this equation was $1.03\;kcal/g{\cdot}mole$.

Interpretation of Material Provenance and Production Techniques of Pottery and Kilns from Gundong and Majeon Sites in the 3rd Century at Yeonggwang, Korea (영광 군동.마전 원삼국시대 토기와 가마의 제작특성 및 태토의 산지해석)

  • Potsherds and kilns of the AD 3th century excavated from Gundong and Majeon sites, Korea were studied to investigate the production techniques and provenance of potsherds and kilns on the pastes. For potsherds, kilns blocks and in-situ paleo-soils, provenance of raw materials were estimated through mineralogy and geochemistry, while production technique and thermal feature of kilns were investigated through observation of textures and compositions as well as firing experiment on paleo-soils. As a result of study, potsherds and kilns were found to have similar mineralogical compositions as the neighboring paleo-soils and to have same evolution path with that of geochemistry. The potsherds were divided into 3 groups according to firing temperature and production technique. Group 1 consists of reddish stamped pattern pottery with loose textures, which has many pores and contains many iron oxides. Its temper is less than about 0.5mm, and was probably fired between 700 to $800^{\circ}C$. Group 2 contains ash to grayish blue stamped pattern pottery, which has vitrified texture and few pores. Its temper is less than about 0.5mm, and was probably fired from 900 to $1,000^{\circ}C$. However, some potsherd belongs to the group 2 in terms of features for temper and pastes, but it was probably fired over $1,100^{\circ}C$. Group 3 contains reddish and grayish stamped pattern pottery. It has vitrified matrix, few pores and temper consists of polycrystalline quartz and feldspar over 2mm, and it was probably fired around $1,000^{\circ}C$. The kiln had experienced temperature from 600 to $700^{\circ}C$ on the wall, from 900 to $1,000^{\circ}C$ on the bottom, suggesting the function of high temperature firing.

  • $Bi_2Te_3$계 열전재료는 200~400K 정도의 저온에서 네어지 변환효율이 가장 높은 재료로써 열전냉각, 바런재로 등에 응요하기 위하여ㅠ 제조법 및 특서에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. $Bi_2Te_3$계 화합물은 rhombohedral의 결정 구조를 가지는 층상 화 ;물로 결정대칭성으로 인해 연전기적으로 큰 이방성을 나타낸다. 현재는 일반향용고법에 의해서 입자를 a축 방향으로 성장시켜 큰 결정립을 가진 다결정재료를 사용하고 있으나, c면이 매우 취약하기 때문에 가공서이 나쁘다. 따라서 이와같은 단점을 개선하기 위하여 기계적 강도를 높일 수 있는 가공공정 및 합금설계에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 측히 열간 압출법으로 제조된 열전재료는 결정립의 미세화와 높은 이방성으로 성능지수와 기계적 강도를 향상시킬 수 있다는 연구결과가 보고되고 있다 또한 Schultz드의 연구결과에 의하면 $Bi_2Te_3$ 계 열전재료는 소성변형에 의하여 발생한 점결함에 의하여 캐리어 농도가 변화되며 이로 인하여 재료의 전기적 성질이 결정된다고 하였다. 따라서 상당히 큰 소성가공량과 열전측성과의 관계를 규명하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 압출변수 중 소성가공량에 중요한 변수로 작요아는 압출비를 변화시켜 최적의 열간 소성가공량을 검토하고, 이에 따른 열전측성과 압출비와의 상관관계에 대하여 연구하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구에 사용된 N형의 조성은$Bi_2Te_{2.75}Se_{0.15}$로서 순도 99.99를 사용하였고, dopant로 0.1wt%의 $SbI_3$를 사용하였다. $Bi_2Te_{2.75}Se_{0.15}$ 분말은 가스분사법(Gas atomization Process)를 이용하여, 용탕제조시 아르곤가스로 산화를 방지하였고, 냉매로는 질소가스를 이용하였다. 제조된 분말을 기ㅖ적 분급법을 이용하여 분급하였고, 냉매로는 질소가스를 이용하였다. 제조된 분말을 기계적 분급ㅂ법을 이용하여 분급하였고, 압출에 이용된 분말은 250$\mu\textrm{m}$이하의 크기를 사용하였다. 또한 분말제조과정 중 형성되는 표면산화층을 제거하기 위하여 36$0^{\circ}C$에서 4시간동안 수소 환원처리를 행하였다. 제조된 분말은 열간 압출을 위하여 Aㅣcan에 넣고 냉간성형체를 만들고, 진공처리를 한 후 밀봉하여 탈가스처리를 하였다. 압출다이는 압출비가 각각 28:1과 16:1인 평다이(9$0^{\circ}C$)를 사용하여 각각 내경이 9, 12cm이고, 길이가 50, 30cm인 압출재를 제조하였다. 열간압출한 후의 미세조직을 광학현미경으로 압출방향에 평행한 방향과 수직방향으로 관찰하였고, 열간 압출재 이방성을 검토하기 위하여 X선 회절분석을 실실하여 결정방위를 확인하였다. 전기 비저항 및 Seebeck 계수 측정을 위하여 각각 2$\times$2$\times$10$mm^3$ 그리고 5$\times$5$\times$10$mm^3$ 크기의 시편을 준비하였다.준비하였다.

Experimental Evaluation of Seismic Column Splice with Partial Joint Penetration Welds (부분용입용접 내진기둥 이음부의 강도평가)

  • The seismic performance of a column splice fabricated with PJP (partial joint penetration) welds for special moment frames was experimentally evaluated in this study. The steel materials that were used for the specimens included SHN490 and SN490 steel, or the newly developed structural steel for seismic application. Fabricating the column splice with PJP welds is highly attractive from the perspective of reducing the welding cost and the construction time. PJP welds in column splices are viewed apprehensively, however, because several tests have shown that PJP welds in thick members tend to become brittle under tensile loads. The column splices in this testing program were designed for the expected plastic moment of the column that current seismic codes typically require. The design strength of partial-penetration welded joints was determined according to the 2005 AISC-LRFD Specification. Three-point loading was applied monotonically, using a universal testing machine, such thatthe column splice joints were subjected to pure tension. The test results showed that the PJP welded splices, if designed properly, can develop a strength exceeding that of the actual plastic moment of the column. The specimen made of the SM490 rolled section, however, showed a brittle fracture at the splice soon after achieving the actual plastic moment of the column. The tensile coupon test results also showed that the material properties of SM490 steel are more unpredictable. Overall, although the test data are limited, the SHN490 and SN490 steel specimens showed a superior and reliable performance.

Interpretation of Firing Temperature and Material Characteristics of the Potteries Excavated from the Nongseori Site in Giheung, Korea (기흥 농서리유적 출토 토기의 재료과학적 특성과 소성온도 해석)

  • This study was examined interpretation of making techniques and provenance interpretation of raw materials for the potteries from the Nongseori site in Giheung based on archaeometric characteristics. The potteries are classified into three groups according to the archaeological age. The texture of Neolithic age potteries is sandy soil added a lot of temper such as talc and mica, and Bronze age potteries contain sandy materials which occur naturally include quartz, orthoclase, plagioclase and mica. On the other hand, Proto-three Kingdom Age potteries made of silty soil that sift out coarse minerals from the clay. But all pottery and soil samples in the study were very similar patterns with geochemical evolution trend. This result is sufficient evidence that all pottery samples were produced using the same raw materials from the host rocks around of the site area. The Neolithic age potteries had loose texture and fired probably about 700 to $760^{\circ}C$. The Bronze age potteries had experienced firing about 850 to $900^{\circ}C$. And Proto-three Kingdom Age potteries had compact textured and fired from 900 to $1,050^{\circ}C$. The making techniques of potteries are not represented discontinuation characteristics about the periodic time sequences, and are suggested that revealed a transitional change patterns for production techniques.

Material Properties of Soil and Potteries Excavated From Ra-No.19 Site of Pung-nap Mudcastle (풍납토성 라-19호 출토 토양과 토기의 재료학적 특성)

  • Pung-nap mudcastle has brought wide attention to archaeologists since scientific studies were carried out on the various types of building sites and excavated potteries related to A period of Baekje Kindom when it sat Hansung as the capital. It is identified that clay from Ra-No.19 site of Pung-Nap mudcastle has different from compositions that of residential soil. From archaeological point of view, it is believed that the the soil was a source material for potteries due to the appropriate viscosity and inclusions. Mineralogical and geochemical studies show that the compositions between the source material and randomly chosen two potteries from the same site are similar. Behavior pattern classification of major, trace and rare elements provides also very similar result. Artificial specimen has been made at different temperature in order to estimate firing temperature of the potteries by means of various kinds of instrumental application. As a result of the study, it is believed that the firing temperature of the red and brown pottery was $550{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ and $900{\sim}1,000^{\circ}C$ respectively.

A Coupled Analysis of Finite Elements and Boundary Elements for Time Dependent Inelastic Problems (시간의존 비탄성 문제의 유한요소-경계요소 조합에 의한 해석)

  • The long-term behavior, such as in excavation problems of weak medium, can be dealt with by the elasto-viscoplasticity models. In this paper, a combined formulation of elasto-viscoplasticity using boundary elements and finite elements without using internal cells is presented. The domain integral introduced due to the viscoplastic stresses is transformed into a boundary integral applying direct integration in cylindrical coordinates. The results of the developed boundary element analysis are compared with those from the explicit solution and from the finite element analysis. It is observed that the boundary element analysis without internal cells results in some error because of its deficiency in handling the nonlinearity in local stress concentration. Therefore, a coupled analysis of boundary elements and finite elements, in which finite elements are used in the area of stress concentration, is developed. The coupled method is applied to a time dependent inelastic problem with semi-infinite boundaries. It results in reasonable solution compared with other methods where relatively higher degree of freedoms are employed. Thus, it is concluded that the combined analysis may be used for such problems in the effective manner.

  • 최근 자동차 산업에서는 차체의 무게를 감소시켜 연비향상과 배기가스의 양을 줄이려는 목적으로 고강도 강재의 차체 적용이 증가하고 있다. 또한 다른 여러 산업에서도 두께 감소를 통한 경량화를 위해 고강도 강재가 사용되고 있다. 고강도 강재를 자동차 차체에 적용하면서 용접성에 대한 새로운 문제가 제기 되고 있으며 그 중 자동차 생산라인에서 차체의 조립공정의 대부분을 차지하는 저항 점 용접에 대한 연구가 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 이러한 고강도 강재의 저항 점 용접의 문제점으로는 잦은 날림발생을 들 수 있다. 이는 강도의 증가에 따른 비저항 증가와 필요 가압력의 증가로 인해 입열에 의한 가압부의 소성변형이 쉽게 발생하기 때문이다. 이를 방지하기 위해 현재 다단가압, 다단전류제어 등의 기법들이 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 저항 점 용접의 펄스전류 파형설계를 통해 고강도강 용접의 날림발생을 저감하고자 하였다. 실험소재로는 Al-Si 도금의 1.5GPa 급 강재를 사용하였고 실험조건으로는 기존 로브곡선에서 날림이 발생하는 용접조건을 사용하였다. On/Off 방식의 펄스전류를 이용하여 On/Off 시간에 따른 용접성을 평가하여 이를 기존 용접성과 비교하였다. 또한 펄스전류 파형에 따른 입열과 냉각의 변화와 날림발생에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.
