Up to the present, there have been many works to analyze interconnects on timing aspects, while less works have been done on power aspects. As resistance of interconnects and rise time of signals increase, power consumption associated with interconnects is ever-increasing. In case of clock trees, particularly power consumption associated with interconnects is over 30% of total power consumption. Hence, an efficient method to compute power consumption of interconnects is necessary and in this paper we propose a simple yet accurate method to estimate dynamic power consumption of interconnects. We propose a new reduced-order model to estimate power consumption of large interconnects. Through the proposed model which is directly derived from total capacitance and resistance of interconnects, we show that the dynamic power consumption of whole interconnects can be approximated, and propose an analytical method to compute the power consumption. The results applying the proposed method to various RC networks show that average relative error is 1.86% and maximum relative error is 9.82% in comparison with HSPICE results.

Component-based Software development(CBSD) is widely used in various area due to its efficiency of time, cost and effort. In the embedded software which has high dependency of platform and can be developed by product family, the efficiency of CBSD is maximized by reuse. These embedded software has various limitations of the resources. Specially, the effective energy consumption is very important in the portable embedded software such as smart phone and tablet PC, because they are operated with limited energy source like a battery. Therefore, energy efficient problem became very important issue in the CBSD. In this paper, we identified characteristics and environment that influence energy consumption of components. Afterward, we defined a component specification language which is consisted to describe energy characteristics of the components. This supposed specification language can be utilized to energy efficient component search and selection.

A new low power charge-recycling ROM architecture is proposed. The charge-recycling ROM uses charge-recycling method in bit lines of ROM to save the power consumption. About 90% of the total power used in the ROM is consumed in bit lines. With the proposed method, power consumption in ROM bit lines can be reduced asymptotically to zero if the number of bit lines is infinite and the sense amplifiers detect infinitely small voltage difference. However, the real sense amplifiers cannot sense very small voltage difference. Therefore, reduction of power consumption is limited. The simulation results show that the charge-recycling ROM only consumes 13% ~ 78% of the conventional low power contact programming mask ROM.

특히 프로세서의 전력 소모가 많은 비중을 차지함에 따라 프로세서의 전력 소모를 낮추기 위한 방법으로 많은 프로세서들은 DVS(Dynamic Voltage Scaling)와 DFS(Dynamic Frequency Scaling)를 지원한다.

There are so many low power MAC protocols for wireless sensor network. IEEE802.15.4 among them has disadvantage of a large power consumption for synchronization. To save power consumption it use the superframe operation alternating sleep mode and awake mode. But latency is longer result from superframe operation. Typical asynchronous B-MAC can have shorter latency according to check interval. But transmitter consumes more power because of long preamble. And receiver is suffering from overhearing. In this paper, we propose the adaptive check interval scheme of B-MAC for enhancing the power consumption and delay latency performance. Its power consumption is evaluated by comparing the proposed scheme with a typical IEEE802.15.4.
In mobile systems, energy efficiency is critical to extend battery life. Therefore, power consumption should be taken into account to develop software in addition to performance, Efficient software design in power and performance is possible if accurate power prediction is accomplished during the execution of software, In this paper, power estimation model is developed using statistical analysis, The proposed model analyzes processor behavior Quantitatively using the data of performance monitoring events and power consumption collected by executing various benchmark programs, And then representative hardware events on power consumption are selected using hierarchical clustering, The power prediction model is established by regression analysis in which the selected events are independent variables and power is a response variable, The proposed model is applied to a PXA320 mobile processor based on Intel XScale architecture and shows average estimation error within 4% of the actual measured power consumption of the processor.

Since the power consumption of data centers is large and computer serves take a large portion of it, there have been much research on the power saving of servers in various ways recently. Among the units of severs CPU is one of major power consuming units. In this paper, a method of client-server assignment for minimizing the CPU power consumption of servers in a game server cluster is proposed. We model the client-server assignment problem as an optimization problem, and find a solution to the problem using a simulated annealing-based technique. One of major features of our method is to select a proper operating frequency according to the amount of load on a server. The selection of a lower frequency in case of low load will result in reducing power consumption. To our survey, little research on client-server assignment in consideration of power consumption has been carried out.
