Structural Characteristics on InAs Quantum Dots multi-stacked on GaAs(100) Substrates

  • The InAs self-assembled quantun dots (SAQDS) were grown on a GaAs(100) substrate using a molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) technique. The InAs QDs were multi-stacked to have various layer structures of 1, 3, 6, 10, 15 and 20 layers, where the thickness of the GaAs spacer and InAs QD layer were 20 monolayers (MLs) and 2 MLs, respectively. The nanostructured feature was characterized by photoluminescence (PL) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). It was found that the highest PL intensity was obtained from the specimen with 6 stacking layers and the energy of the PL peak was split with increasing the number of stacking layers. The STEM investigation exhibited that the quantum dots in the 6 stacking layer structure were well aligned in vertical columns without any deflect generation, whereas the volcano-like deflects were formed vertically along the growth direction over 10 periods of InAs stacking layers.

Growth behavior of Ti-Al-V-N Films Prepared by Dc Reactive Magnetron Sputtering (DC Reactive Magnetron Sputtering법에 의한 Ti-Al-V-N 박막의 성장거동)

  • Ti-6Al-4V-N films have been grown onto glass substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering from a Ti-6Al-4V-N alloy target at different nitrogen partial pressure, input powers and sputtering times. The influence of various sputtering conditions on structural properties of Ti-6Al-4V-N films was investigated by measuring their X-ray diffraction. The quaternary Ti-6Al-4V-N film is crystallizing in a face centered cubic TiN structure, the lattice parameter is smaller than the TiN parameter as titanium atoms of the TiN lattice are replaced by aluminum and vanadium atoms. The films show the (111) preferred orientation and the (111) peak intensity decreases as the nitrogen partial pressure is increased, but the intensity increases as the sputtering time is increased. The deposition rate and the grain size are alto related with the variation of various sputtering conditions.

  • To study the business performance, this research reviewed the revenue of 2012 for shipping and logistics companies in Korea, then selected 10 shipping companies and 10 logistics companies according to annual sales amount. These 20 companies are divided into four groups considering their business structure and their financial performance are organized from 2005 to 2012. Then CCR, BCC model has been applied to static efficiency and dynamic changes in productivity for analysis. As an overall result, logistics companies are proven to be better than shipping company in efficiency, change of productivity, growth and profitability. Among the logistics companies, the performance of second party logistics companies are relatively better in those factor above than the third party logistics companies.

Effects of Annealing Temperature on the Properties of Solid Phase Epitaxy YIG Films (열처리온도가 고상에피택시 YIG박막의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of annealing temperature on the crystalline and magnetic properties of YIG films grown by solid phase epitaxy. The eptiaxy films were made by annealing Fe-Y-O amorphous films in the air at 550-1050 $^{\circ}C$ which were sputtered on GGG (111) substrates in a conventional rf sputtering system. Crystallization temperature of Fe-Y-O amorphous films on GGG (111) substrate was between 600 and 650 $^{\circ}C$ which is much lower than that Fe-Y-O powder prepared by sol-gel method. Excellent epitaxial growth of YIG films could be conformed by the facts that the diffraction intensity of YIG (888) plane was comparable with that of GGG (888) plane and full width at half maximum of YIG (888) rocking curve was smaller than 0.14$^{\circ}$ when films were annealed at 1050 $^{\circ}C$. It could be seen that it is necessary to anneal the films at higher temperature for an excellent epitaxy because lattice parameter of YIG films were smaller and the peak of YIG (888) plane is higher and narrower with increasing annealing temperature. Films annealed at higher temperature shows M-H loop with perpendicular anisotropy which was due to 0.15% lattice mismatch between YIG and GGG.

Fabrication and characterization of $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ thin film gas sensor by CVD (CVD법을 이용한 $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$박막 가스센서의 제조 및 물성평가)

  • $\alpha$-$Fe_2O_3$ thin film gas sensors were deposited at various temperature by CVD method. Polycrystalline $\alpha$-$Fe_2O_3$ thin films were deposited at $175^{\circ}C$ and $200^{\circ}C$. $\gamma$-$\alpha$-$Fe_2O_3$ phase was obtained when the deposition temperature was higher than $250^{\circ}C$. The crystallite size of $\alpha$-$Fe_2O_3$ was affected by the deposition and annealing temperature. The specimen deposited at $175^{\circ}C$ showed maximum sensitivity. In this condition, the sensitivity of $\alpha$-$Fe_2O_3$ thin film for NO gas (at 250 ppm) was 3.2 and response time (at 100ppm) was 12 second.

Contour-based Procedural Modeling of Leaf Venation Patterns (컨투어기반 잎맥 패턴의 절차적 모델링)

  • This study proposes an efficient method to model various and diverse leaves required to express digital plants such as flowers and trees in virtual landscape easily and intuitively. The proposed procedural method divides a leaf mainly into a blade and vein thereby detecting contours from binary images that correspond to blades and generating leaves by modeling leaf veins procedurally based on the detected contours. First of all, a complicated leaf vein structure is divided into main veins, lateral veins, and tertiary vein while all veins grow procedurally directing from start auxin to destination auxin. Here, to calculate destination auxin required for growth automatically, approximated contours from binary images that correspond to blades are found thereby calculating candidate destination auxin. Finally, natural digital leaves are generated by applying a color combination method. Through the proposed method, natural and various leaves can be generated and whether the proposed method is efficient or not is verified through the experiment.

Synthesis and bioactivity evaluation of metal ion-substitution biphasic calcium phosphate for bone defect reconstruction (골결손부 재건을 위한 금속 이온 치환 이상인산칼슘 합성 및 생체 활성 평가)

  • The co-precipitation technique has been applied to synthesize Biphasic Calcium Phosphate (BCP), Mg-BCP and Si-BCP. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of synthesized BCP, Mg-BCP and Si-BCP powders. The results have shown that BCP and substitution of magnesium and silicon in the calcium deficient apatites revealed the formation of biphasic mixtures of Hydroxyapatite (HAp)/${\beta}$-Tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP) ratios after heating at $1000^{\circ}C$. Ionic substituted BCP is able to develop a new apatite phase on the surface in contact with physiological fluids faster than BCP does. An MTT assay indicated that BCP, Mg-BCP, and Si-BCP powders had no cytotoxic effects on MG-63 cells, and that they have good biocompatibility.

Growth of $Cd_{1-x}Zn_xS $ Thin films Using Hot Wall Epitaxy Method and Their Photoconductive Characteristics (HWE에 의한 $Cd_{1-x}Zn_xS $박막의 성장과 광전도 특성)

  • The Cd1-xZnxS thin films were grown on the Si(100) wafers by a hot wall epitaxy method (HWE). the source and substrate temperature are 600℃ and 440℃, respectively. The crystalline structure of epilayers was investigated by double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). Hall effect on the sample was measured by the van der Pauw method and the carrier density and mobility dependence of Hall characteristics on temperature was also studied. In order to explore the applicability as a photoconductive cell, we measured the sensitivity (γ), the ratio of photocurrent to darkcurrent (pc/dc), maximum allowable power dissipation (MAPD), spectral response and response time. The results indicated that the best photoconductive characteristic were observed in the Cd0.53Zn0.47S samples annealed in Cu vapor comparing with in Cd, Se, air and vacuum vapour. Then we obtained the sensitivity of 0.99, the value of pc/dc of 1.65 × 107, the MAPD of 338mW, and the rise and decay time of 9.7 ms and 9.3 ms, respectively.

  • 탄소나노튜브(carbon nanotubes : CNTs)는 뛰어난 전기적, 물리적인 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 다양한 분야에서 이를 활용하려는 노력들이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. CNTs의 전기적인 특성은 직경에 의해 결정되므로, 직경을 균일하게 제어하는 일이 CNTs를 기반으로 한 전자소자 응용에 가장 중요한 사항이라 할 수 있다. 일반적으로 화학기상증착법(chemical vapor deposition, CVD)으로 합성된 CNTs의 직경은 촉매의 크기에 의존하기 때문에, 촉매의 크기를 제어하기 위한 다양한 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다[1-3]. 하지만 CNTs의 성장온도 근처에서 촉매 입자는 표면 확산(surface diffusion)에 의해 응집(agglomeration)되기 때문에 작고 균일한 크기의 촉매를 얻기 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 Si(001) 기판 위에 지지층(supporting layer)인 Al의 두께를 변화시켜 증착하고, 열적산화과정을 통해 $Al_2O_3$ 층을 형성한 후 Fe을 증착하여 CNTs를 합성하였다. $Al_2O_3$ 지지층과 Fe 촉매입자의 구조와 화학적 상태를 원자힘현미경 (atomic force microscopy, AFM), 주사전자현미경 (scanning electron microscopy, SEM), 투과전자현미경 (transmission electron microscopy, TEM), X-선 광전자 분광기(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)를 통해 분석하였고, 성장된 CNTs는 SEM, TEM, 라만 분광법 (Raman spectroscopy)을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, $Al_2O_3$ 층은 두께에 따라 각기 다른 표면 거칠기(RMS roughness)와 결정립(grain)의 크기를 갖게 되며, 이러한 표면구조가 Fe 촉매입자의 표면확산에 의한 응집에 관여하여 CNTs의 직경에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 $Al_2O_3$ 지지층의 두께가 15 nm인 경우, Fe의 응집현상이 억제되어 좁은 직경분포를 지닌 고순도 단일벽 탄소나노튜브(Single-walled CNTs)가 성장되는 것을 확인하였다.

Analysis of Growth Factors of Foreign Private Security in Korea: Focusing on the Social Capital of Korean-Chinese (재한 외국인 민간경호의 성장요인 분석 -한국계 중국인의 사회자본을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the growth factors of foreign private security and to propose a successful activation method through collaboration between Korea private security guard and Korean private security guard. The results of this study are as follows. First, we need to acknowledge the need for Korean - Chinese security activities in Korea. Secondly, analysis and research should be conducted to find out why Korean - Chinese security activities are needed in Korea. Third, it is necessary to improve the language ability as one of the efforts to escape the limited domestic security activities by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the Korean - Chinese security activities it is difficult, it should be possible to select talented people who can speak language and to be able to work as a security guard. Fourth, it is urgent to improve the perception of Korean - Chinese in order to promote Korean - Chinese security activities and domestic security activities.
