  • In today's family, it can be said that children's faith education is in a very difficult time. Moreover, faith education at home is urgently required during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as society changes rapidly, families are also changing rapidly. As the current society became diversified and personalized, the family lost its educational function. In other words, it can be immediately said that faith education in Christian families has collapsed. The reason is that the problem of faith education in today's family lies in poor communication. Communication problems are becoming difficult for parents and children due to changes in values caused by individualism and capitalism, and as the difference between values and the generation of children widens. In addition, disconnection of dialogue at home due to the disconnection of culture between generations is an obstacle to faith education. It is urgent to restore the educational function of Christian families. When parents provide Christian faith education to their children, their children can grow up properly. Communication with children is desperately needed to restore the purpose and function of faith education at home. Communication between parents and children is an important factor influencing children's motivation for religious education. Parents and children's communication must be open and positive parenting attitudes need to be sufficiently motivated for faith education. In order to solve the immediate problem of the absence of faith education at home, an alternative will be proposed to restore faith education through communication between parents and children. First, the necessity of faith education at home will be discussed. Then communication at the beginning of faith education will be considered. And third, communication and methods at home to implement faith education will be presented. This study will serve as an opportunity to provide clues to restore and implement faith education in Christian families.

  • This study aimed to identify the factors influencing the intentions of employed married women, aged 19 and above, with no prior experience of childbirth, to give birth to their first child. First, the intention of employed married women to give birth to their first child showed a moderate level of inclination, with slightly higher scores reflected in the subvariables of perceived marital value and perceived child value both within family values, while the effect of perceived gender role value was generally higher than the midpoint. Perception of work-life balance was generally a moderate influence, with the subvariable of balancing work and family being slightly higher than the midpoint in terms of influence. Second, the intention to give birth to a first child was clearly associated with the level of education and showed a positive correlation. However, this intention was negatively correlated with age, perceived child values, perceived marital values, and residential tenure. Third, pregnancy intention was influenced by age, educational level, perceived value of children, perceived value of marrriage, and work-life balance. This study provides meaningful assistance in understanding current low birth rate by gathering data on the preferences of married working women in relation to childbirth and by presenting the diverse perspectives of the women.

Fathers who engaged in playing with their children were found to have a strong effect on paternal warmth parenting, whereas participation in children's activities has the strongest effect on maternal warmth parenting. • This research explores the relationship between gender equity within family and second birth in Korea. For a factor analysis on the intention of having additional children for women with one child, I have used the data from the 2005 National Survey on Marriage and Fertility Trend" of the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. Among 516 samples(year of 20-44), women planning to have second birth are 54.7%, and others have answered that they have no intention to have second birth. As a result, main causes affecting progressing to second birth seemed to be family planning on family cycle, such as controlling age gaps between first and second child, composing children genders as they wish etc. The variable of "gender equity between couples" in progressing to second birth are of significant only with married working women group. In case of married working women, more the husband's houseworking hours increase, the more prone to progress to second birth. However, in case of housewives, gender equity level, such as husband's housework hours or share of housework are not of significant influence in progressing to second birth. Not only working mothers but also housewives need the realization of gender equity within the family and the expansion of social support system for work-family life balance.

A structured questionnaire was completed by 291 university students from March 1 to April 31, 2016. Data were analyzed to calculate the direct and indirect effects of factors affecting safer sexual behavior using SPSS WIN 21.0 and AMOS 18.0 programs. Final model fit indices were RMSEA .05, GFI .98, AGFI .94, NFI .96, and self-esteem, sexual communication for parents showed a direct effect on sexual assertiveness and safer sexual behavior of university students. Sexual assertiveness mediated the relationships among self-esteem, sexual communication for parents, and safer sexual behavior. Furthermore, it is shown that the sexual assertiveness significantly mediates the relation between the positive self-esteem, sexual open communication for parents and safer sexual behavior of early adults.

Methods: The sample included 141 grandmothers. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Firstly, the variables that explained physical health satisfaction of grandchild caregiving grandmothers were educational level, family income, the number of grandchild, and caregiving conflict with adult child. When their educational level were higher, had more money, cared for grandchild more, and did not experience conflict with adult child, they showed the higher scores of physical health satisfaction. Secondly, as to leisure activity satisfaction of grandchild caregiving grandmothers, educational level and caregiving conflict with adult child were included. That is, they had higher educational level, and without caregiving conflict with adult child, grandchild caregiving grandmothers reported higher levels of leisure activity satisfaction. • This study had two aims (1) to explore the trajectory of family functioning (flexibility and cohesion) in the mothers' perspective and classify it according to the development of their child, and (2) to examine the differences in children's self-esteem as well the internal and external behavioral problems based on the latent groups. A total of 1,348 mothers and their children who participated in the survey in 2013 through to 2017 were analyzed. The group was subdivided into low incremental, average incremental, average-above incremental, and high unchanged groups according to the flexibility, and into low incremental, average incremental, decremental, high incremental, and above-high unchanged groups in terms of cohesion. From 2015 to 2017, the self-esteem of elementary school-age children showed differences depending on the flexibility and cohesion of family functioning; children in the high-unchanged group of flexibility and the above-high unchanged group of cohesion showed high self-esteem. Behavior problems of early childhood and elementary school-age children varied according to the latent classes of flexibility and the cohesion of family functioning. Children in low incremental and average incremental groups of flexibility and low incremental, average incremental, and decremental groups of cohesion showed more internal and external behavioral problems. These findings suggest that family functioning has significant effects on the psychological aspects of children.

  • This study examined the effectiveness of the Filial Therapy program for children with Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD). Subjects were 8 mother-child dyads each in the experimental and comparison groups. Mann-Whitney U-test and the Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test were performed following the therapeutic program. After application of the Filial Therapy program, results showed that, compared to the control group, (1) parents of SAD children in the experimental group significantly increased their level of empathic interactions with their children. AND (2) the experimental group children significantly reduced level of somatic complaints, anxious/depressed, and social problems. Conclusions were that Filial Therapy is an effective program for improvement of parent-child relationship of SAD children but not for changing problem behavior of SAD children.
