  • This study has targeted to comparatively analyze smoking cessation success rates and success factors among new enrollees and re-enrollees in Smoking Cessation Clinics for its efficient operation. A total of 319,908 smokers who were enrolled in the Smoking Cessation Clinics in one of 253 public health centers across the nation for more than 6 months from July 16, 2009 to July 15, 2010 were examined. According to the comparative analysis, the following results have been obtained. According to the results, it has been confirmed that it is necessary to determine why smoking cessation success rates are low and take additional efforts to increase the rates for the effective operation of smoking cessation clinics. In addition, smoking cessation success rates were higher when only BT(Behavior Therapy) was given than when both BT and NRT(Nicotine Replacement Therapy) were provided to new enrollees while they were lower when only BT was provided than when both BT and NRT were given to re-enrollees. Therefore, it is necessary to provide differentiated service types depending on the type of enrollment. Hence, it is also required for the government to take various approaches in terms of a direction for a smoking cessation policy.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between contingencies of self-worth(superiority and others' approval), college adjustment and expectancy for future success and the mediating role of cognitive flexibility in these relationships. For this study, data from 460 college students were analyzed. The results were as follows. Contingencies of self-worth(superiority) were positively associated with college adjustment and expectancy for future success, while contingencies of self-worth(others' approval) were negatively associated with college adjustment and expectancy for future success. Second, the results of structural equation modeling indicated that cognitive flexibility fully mediated the relationship of contingencies of self-worth (superiority and others' approval) with college adjustment and expectancy for future success. Third, even the contingencies of self-worth(other's approval) were negatively associated with cognitive flexibility, and if the latter was high, it influenced college adjustment and expectancy for future success. Finally, the meanings and limitations of this research and implicationsfor counseling strategies and interventions were discussed in detail.

  • Uncertainty of career environment driven by globalization and shift of employment context drives heavy competition of labor market and anxiety of employment for individuals. New career paradigm based on this environmental change puts emphasis on subjective career success from individual's viewpoint as important career outcome and individual's proactive career development efforts. In addition to this, importance of person-environment fit and person-job fit is growing in relationship between career planning and career success. Based on this perspective, this study aims to identify whether person-environment fit and person-job fit mediate the relationship between career development and subjective career success. Data analysis of questionnaire from 220 employees showed that both fits mediate the relationship. This result implies that individual's proactive career planning is critical to career success and this strengthens one's satisfaction to organization and job. To organization, strategies need to be developed to design career development of employees' based on their career needs and organizational intervention such as job-rotation system.

  • With using the 4th and 5th wave of KLoSA(Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging), this study analyzed the effect of the factors of Rowe and Kahn's successful aging model on the life satisfaction of older adults. The target population of this study was 1,385 who is older than 65. As data analysis, hierarchical multiple regression was used. The variables such as demographics, avoiding diseases and disability, high cognitive and physical function and engagement with life, relationship with adult children were entered hierarchically for the regression analysis. Since there are differences of longevity by gender, the difference of factors of successful aging were compared by marital status. In this study (besides Rowe and Kahn's successful aging model such as avoiding disease and disability, high cognitive and physical function, and engagement with life), the relationships with adult children were analyzed additionally. Findings show that married older adults were older and reside with their adult children twice more than those who do not have a spouse. According to research results, regular exercise and memory skills were important factors of affecting life satisfaction. • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the ownership structure of unlisted firms on KOSDAQ listing. There are few studies analyzing the characteristics of listing success based on ownership structure. For startup executives, there is not enough data to refer to the ownership structure that can increase the possibility of listing. This paper examines the effects of ownership structure on IPO success through comparison between listed successful and failed companies among the companies in application for KOSDAQ listing eligibility review. The major findings are as follows; (1) Venture capital investment and shareholding have a statistically positive effect on the success of KOSDAQ listing. This results indicate that the venture capital's investment alleviate the problem of information asymmetry, and it is a valid signal for market participants. The result means the role of venture capital seems to be important when companies are listed on the KOSDAQ. (2) The largest shareholder's stake has an inverted-U shape relationship with listing success. In other words, the ownership concentration mitigates moral hazard problem, which leads to listing success. However, if the ownership concentration exceeds a certain level, the chances of success in listing will decrease due to concerns over the pursuit of private interests. The result suggests that the largest shareholder's stake reduce agency problem. This study academically contributes to the existing literature by demonstrating the ownership structure affects IPOs, and explaining the results based on agent theory and signal theory. Our results provide practical implications for companies preparing for an IPO on the KOSDAQ.

  • The realization of carbon neutrality requires cooperation from various stakeholders and the utilization of a governance system. The criteria for participating members are crucial for the successful operation of governance, and it is especially necessary for experts who can provide scientific advice for policy implementation to share a framework for successful consensus. In this study, governance model theory and model structure, governance common success factors by case, and the application of governance cases in the climate and environmental sector of Seoul, were investigated and analyzed to derive common success factors in order to present the activity standards of the science and technology experts participating in governance. The study of the model theory suggested that the model structure is commonly composed of a basic condition-process-result structure, and it was confirmed that common success factors can be derived at the process stage which is the activity period of members. Through the case study of common success factors, overlapping factors were found to be reliability, accountability, transparency, networks, and related factors. The validity of the common success factors was verified using the analysis results of satisfaction survey data from Seoul Governance Committee participants. The results confirmed that reliability was the most valuable factor followed by networks, transparency, and responsibility, and it was found that the related factors were appropriately derived. The findings of this study are expected to be used as an activity factor for science and technology experts to increase the acceptability and effectiveness of carbon-neutral policies in the future.
