  • The purpose of this study is to figure out the research trend of surveying in Korea through the analyses of research field and the published year of surveying related papers in journals and theses of master and Ph. D. The papers and theses published since 1957 were collected and analyzed to find out the major research topics and trends with time. The analyses of research trends in terms of time showed certain correlation between research areas, for example, remote sensing is highly correlated with GIS (98%), GPS correlated with GIS(95%). Through the regression analysis, it was found that the trends of the most fields were well-fitted with a third-order polynomial except the field of Geodesy. Furthermore, it was predicted that the number of studies in general surveying, photogrammetry, remote sensing and land information will be increasing while those in GPS, GIS, digital map and Geodesy will be decreasing.

  • Lately, academic interests in big data analysis and social network has been prominently raised. Various academic fields are involved in this social network based research trend, which is, social network has been actively used as the research topic in social science field as well as in natural science field. Accordingly, this paper focuses on the text analysis and the following social network analysis with the Master's and Doctor's dissertations. The result indicates that certain words had a high frequency throughout the entire period and some words had fluctuating frequencies in different period. In detail, the words with a high frequency had a higher betweenness centrality and each period seems to have a distinctive research flow. Therefore, it was found that the subjects of the Master's and Doctor's dissertations were changed sensitively to the development of IT technology and changes in information curriculum of elementary, middle and high school. It is predicted that researches related to smart, mobile, smartphone, SNS, application, storytelling, multicultural, and STEAM, which had an increased frequency in period 4, would be continuously conducted. Moreover, the topics of robots, programming, coding, algorithms, creativity, interaction, and privacy will also be studied steadily.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the opinion survey data quality used in theses and to suggest the data quality evaluation model. We used 16 items which were suggested by KASR(Korean Association for Survey Research) as a standard of survey data quality evaluation in thesis. According to the result, the data quality used in the theses is very poor level not to be accepted. And we tried difference tests between two proportions in order to find there were significant differences among stochastical variables. The result showed that there were some significant differences in sampling error and number of analyzing method between doctor and master. we suggested a model that was weighted by 9 special items for a survey data quality evaluation in a thesis by observing them from KASR's principles.

  • Objectives: The studies in biological, behavioral and psychosocial perspectives in nursing research are fundamental in the balanced development of nursing knowledge. Many nursing researchers have placed a strong emphasis on developing psychological and behavioral aspects of nursing knowledge as is evidenced by the large body of research in these areas. However, the paucity of nursing research using the principles of biological science for measurements and techniques have often invited open criticism by many nursing researchers. This study attempts to characterize the researches performed in master and doctoral thesis which used physiological variables. Methods: We analyzed masters' thesis from 1962 to 1996 and doctoral thesis from 1982 to 1996 listed in CD from Korean Nurses Association. Results: Out of 3060 masters' thesis from 1962 to 1996, 342 (11.2%) thesis used physiological variables whereas 43 (10.1%) doctoral thesis used physiological ones. Number of thesis with physiological variables was the highest in Seoul National University for masters' thesis whereas for the doctoral thesis the number was the highest in Yonsei University. The research subjects in these thesis with physiological variables were mostly patients (53.5% in masters' and 69.8% in doctoral). Master's thesis often conducted either nonexperimental or survey research (69.9%) whereas experimental research design prevailed vital signs(181 thesis), blood tests(133), body composition(124), microorganisms(74), gastrointestinal functions(36), lab test(33), drug(21), urinary functions(20), movement(17), Apgar Score(15), reproductive functions(9), skin related functions(6), body fluid and electrolytes(4), parasite(4), metabolism(3), and sensory(1), Among the 338 master' thesis which studied the common nursing concepts such as anxiety, pain, stress, and depression, 48(14.2%) thesis utilized physiological variables while 15 out of 35 doctoral thesis addressed these concepts using physiological variables. Conclusion: In summary, our results indicate that despite the large amount of nursing research performed over the last decades, there are a few nursing researches done with physiological variables either in masters' or doctoral thesis. To enrich nursing knowledge with different perspectives of nursing including especially biological ones, the efforts have to be made to conduct bionursing science research.

  • This study analyzed the research trends concerning the use of smart devices by young children, such as smart phones, tablet PCs, interactive whiteboards and teacher assistant robots, which has begun to be mentioned relatively recently, and attempted to analyze the characteristics of the research trends and provide guidelines for the direction of future research. A search of articles related to the use of electronic media by young children using an Online Search DB revealed a total of 192 research papers, which were analyzed according to the subject of research, teaching-learning method, area of development and area of activity. It was found that the teaching-learning method, teacher education and professionalism were highly prevalent in the subject of research; the education method integrating play activity with literature activity were highly prevalent in the teaching-learning method; language development and social development were highly prevalent in the area of development; and language activity and social activity were highly prevalent in the area of activity.

  • This study attempted to improve the quality of hairstyling-related studies and provide basic data for future studies on hairstyling terms through analysis of cosmetology-related loan words used in hairstyling theses among recent cosmetology papers. For data collection to derive valid conclusions, the signatures of a total of 1,980 academic papers collected after typing in the keyword 'Hair' at the Research Information Sharing Service (http://www.riss.kr) were analyzed. The results show that researchers in hairstyling seem not to pay close attention to the correct use of foreign loan words. Therefore, the study results would be very helpful to the development of future cosmetology studies. The correct notation and use of foreign loanwords should be further encouraged.

  • This study is aimed to suggest some of the right directions for young children's music education in the future. For the purpose, we sampled 265 domestic theses and dissertations that were written over the past three decades between 1985 and 2015, which were analyzed by period of time, content, method and subjects. As for data analysis, statistical data on total frequency and percentage were obtained. The results were as follows: First, the largest number of the studies were implemented during the period from 2007 to 2010, and there was a rapid increase in the number of the dissertations. Second, in terms of the content of research, the biggest number of the studies were concerned about western music teaching methods and integrated teaching methods. The third most common research method was quantitative research. Specifically, experimental research was most prevalent. Fourth, regarding subjects, five-year-old preschoolers were the most common subjects. This study is of significance in that it provides basic information on the management of the Nuri curriculum and music education for young children.

  • Following the protocols for meta-analysis process, this study aims to determine the current state and effectiveness of stress reduction programs for young children. A population, intervention, comparisons, outcomes, study design strategy was established, and 2,322 pieces of literature from 3 electronic databases of RISS, KISS and DBpia using the key words such as"young children stress"were reviewed. Twenty-seven of these references met inclusion and exclusion criteria for systematic review and 19 references were selected for meta-analysis. Analysis results are as follows. (1) Most of the literature was published around 2010. Many types of stress reduction programs were related to physical activity for 5-year-old children. (2) Stress reduction programs were found to have positive effects on young children's stress reduction and especially, psychological therapy activity programs are more effective than others. The implications of the systematic review findings are discussed in the article.
