  • This study reviews in detail the background of the establishment of 'Medicity Daegu', new city brand of Daegu Metropolitan City. This study also analyses both passive and active aspects of place image named 'Medicity Daegu'. To reveal passive images toward the city's new brand name, this study examines the perception of university students in Daegu Metropolitan City. On the other hand, active images are explored by analyzing strategies the city government and research institutes has adopted for the image-making and examining diverse landscapes and events the city have taken place. It was expected in the first place that the new image could help the city make more competitive, and boost its regional economy through the spread of the new city image. However, the city has currently faced difficulties to spread the new city image and has a limitation to acquire uniquely distinctive image because of overlapped images pursued by other city governments in the fields of medical industry and medical services. Some considerations are then suggested regarding the current status of the image of "Medicity Daegu".

Researchers measure how important firms found each of these components of the program, as well as firms' satisfaction with these services, based on the type of product exported (industrial vs. consumer goods) and the level of economic development of the host countries (developed, newly industrialized, and developing.) A total of 245 own-brand exporting SMEs were surveyed and analyzed in this study. Results indicated that KOTRA was the most frequently used organization by the sample SMEs, regardless of the product type and the economic level of host countries. Industrial-goods exporting SMEs found support in searching for overseas distributors more important than consumer-goods exporting SMEs. SMEs exporting to developed countries considered overseas market research and marketing support and searching for overseas distributor programs more important than SMEs exporting to NIE or developing countries. In addition, industrial-goods exporting SMEs were more satisfied with the overseas market research and marketing support and searching for overseas distributor programs than consumer-goods exporting SMEs. However, there were no differences in satisfaction among firms based on the level of economic development of host countries. First, it investigates the influence of attitude formed about hotel on the patronage intention. Second, it seeks to develope an alternative to TRA by looking into the effects of hotel image variable on hotel-specific attitude and patronage intention and attempts to substantiate the role of brand image as a substitute to subjective norm to increase the TRA's explanatory power. The main finding of this study are as follow; First, out of the three components of cognitive evaluation of hotel (human service, physical service and information service), human and physicial services were found to have significant influence on patronage intention. Brand image was found to exert notable influence on attitude toward hotel as well as patronage intention. Remarkably, the finding that brand image positively enhanced the TRA model sheds new strategic insight as to the usefulness of brand image as an alternative to overcome the TRA's limitation stemming from subjective norm. Third, it was learned that study subjects gave more weight to external information sources such as TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, and internet than to internal sources such as individual knowledge, experience or self image.

  • Managers of firms often wonder whether advertising expenditure is a mere expense or an investment with foreseeable future returns. When top management makes a decision on the level of advertising expense, it must consider whether an increase in advertising spending will positively affect brand loyalty and the increased brand loyalty will positively affect profitability and firm value. We investigate the industry-specific effects of advertising spending on marketing and the effect of loyalty on financial performances using top companies in Korea, specifically, 184 firms' data from year 1998 to 2014. The empirical results of a fixed effect model indicate that the effects of advertising on customer satisfaction index and loyalty on the firms' financial performance are positive. In service industry, unlike manufacturing industry, advertising has a significantly positive effect Brand Loyalty. In addition, Brand Loyalty had positive impacts on ROA and ROE as profitability index, and Tobin's q, a market-value index. The research results suggest that advertising in service industry should be considered as customer satisfaction investment and the increased Brand Loyalty as a profit for present and a business investment for the future respectively.

  • Modern society is living in material affluence after the Industrial Revolution. Meanwhile, consumer needs, in conformity with product diversification, are also being diversified. Modern consumers, unlike those of the past, are trending towards individual consumption that satisfies emotion and values instead of simple goal-oriented consumption. A model case is that of Starbucks. Starbucks has grown into the global coffee franchise it is today through emotional marketing that sells an atmosphere that is unique to Starbucks, consisting of store decorations, store music, employee service, and charming coffee aromas that are identical in every store anywhere in the world. Because this method is marketing that stimulates human emotion, it is assigned to and appeals to human senses and sensitivity. In other words, the charm of emotion marketing is that it draws out consumer emotion, produces positive reactions towards products, and leads to consumption. The utilization of emotions for products or service differentiates brand image and is becoming a key method in reinforcing brand royalty. In particular, more importance is being placed on customer service to strongly impress consumers. Intangible service is becoming the best way to impress customers.

  • This study is a study on the consumer reaction to the augmented reality advertisement which is a recent issue. this study was conducted based on the necessity of marketing advertisement technique suitable for the 4th industrial revolution era. First, we present the types of augmented reality ads based on previous studies, and examined the effects of enjoyment and formation of brand attitudes on brand attachment on products or services based on the perceived value of consumers for these types of ads. This study is briefly summarized as follows. Hypothesis (H1) empirical value had a positive effect on pleasure, and hypothesis H2) empirical value also had a positive effect on brand attitude. Hypothesis (H3) symbolic value had a positive effect on pleasure and hypothesis (H4) symbolic value had positive influence on brand attitude. Hypothesis (H5) Practical value has a positive effect on pleasure. Hypothesis (H7) Pleasure affects positively (+) influence on brand attitude. Hypothesis (H8, H9) enjoyment affects affection and brand attitude affects affection positively. Hypothesis (H6) Practical value did not affect brand attitude positively. It can be seen that the augmented reality advertisement communicates with consumers through experience or symbolic side rather than perceive practical value by consumer. The implication of this study is that the augmented reality advertisement is highly interactive with consumers and can induce consumer participation. This means that consumers are more aware of empirical and symbolic values rather than experiencing practical value through augmented reality advertising.
