The Effect of Parent's Support on School Adaptation of Immigrant Adolescents: Mediating Effect of Self-esteem and Moderating Effect of Cultural Adaptation Stress (부모의 지지가 중도입국 청소년의 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향 : 자아존중감의 매개효과 및 문화적응 스트레스의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of parent's support on the school adaptation of immigrant adolescents to school life, the mediating effect of self-esteem, and the moderating effect of cultural adaptation stress. The data used for the analysis were the second panel data (2020) among the multicultural youth panel survey data. As for the data analysis method, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, PROCESS MACRO Model Number 4 and PROCESS MACRO Model Number 1 analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, first, parental support showed a positive (+) effect on school life adaptation. Second, in the relationship between parent's support and school adaptation, self-esteem had a statistically significant indirect effect. Third, it was found that cultural adaptation stress had no moderating effect in the relationship between parent's support and school adaptation. Based on these results, policy and practical suggestions for improving the school adaptation of immigrant adolescents to school life were presented.

Educational Needs of the Infertility Care among Nurses Caring Infertility Patients (난임 환자를 담당하는 간호사의 난임 간호 교육 요구도 조사)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the nurses' educational needs for the infertility care. Methods: The 194 participants in this study were nurses in charge of infertility health services in 5 infertility hospitals and 1 public health center. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire including education for disease and symptom of infertility, education for daily life of infertile patients and supporting and counselling for infertility patients. Results: Nurses had an average score 3.52 for the need of education for disease and symptom of infertility, 3.36 for the need of education for daily life of infertile patients and 3.32 for the need of supporting and counselling for intertility patients. Among the each subcategories, 'Infertility treatment procedure and intervention', 'Exercise' and 'How to form a supportive relationship with your spouse' showed the highest average of nurses' educational needs for the infertility care counselling programs item for the infertility patients. Conclusion: In order to effectively conduct infertility care for the infertility patients, it is necessary for nurses in charge of infertility health services to understand clear concept and objective of it.

The Perception and Need for Nutrition Counseling of the Adults Living in Daejeon (대전 지역 성인의 영양상담에 대한 인지도 및 요구도 조사)

  • This study was done to investigate the perception and need of the nutrition counseling of the people living in Daejon. Results were as follows: Nutrition knowledge score increased with education level. It showed tendency that women's scores were higher than men's. Only 15.5% of the participants were experienced in nutrition counseling mostly with medical doctor or nurse in the general hospital. Their satisfaction level was above average, which means positive reaction on nutrition counseling. In the case of the people who paid nutrition counseling fee, they thought that fee level was reasonable. Participants whose education level was higher thought less frequently that the nutrition counseling fee charged currently in the general hospital was expensive. The prevalent contents they want in the nutrition counseling included the prevention and the treatment of the specific disease and food safety (pesticides and food-born illness). As means of nutrition counseling they preferred internet (or PC) and interview. The higher the education status and the less the age, the higher preference, there was for internet or PC. As a source of nutrition knowledge, participants gave high credit on the professional books, academic journals, and advices from dietitian, nutritionist, medical doctor and pharmacist; in the other hand, they gave low credit on the newspaper, magazine, TV or radio, and advices from family or relatives, and friends. They thought most of the adult-onset disease (especially obesity, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes) were closely related to diet. However, percentage of the participants who thought that diet and kidney disease were related was relatively low.

An Effect of a Group Art Treatment Program on Isolated Children's Self-Concept and Adaptation to the School Life in Elementary School (집단미술치료프로그램이 초등학교 고립아동의 자아개념 및 학교생활적응에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aimed at examining an effect of a group art treatment program on isolated children's self-concept and adaptation to the school life in an elementary school. To achieve this goal, the two hypotheses were made. Hypothesis 1. Children in the experimental group that participated in the group art treatment program will show more improvement in self-concept than those in the control group. Hypothesis 2. Children in the experimental group that participated in the group art treatment program will show more improvement in the ability to adapt themselves to the school life than those in the control group. To test the hypotheses, the socio-emotional isolation test developed by Heo Seung-hi (1993) was carried out with 120 third-graders at K elementary school in Busan; then, 24 isolated children (12 boys and 12 girls) at the upper 25 percent level were randomly sampled and assigned to each of experimental and control groups. The five-stage art treatment program as a reconstruction of the prior study to meet the goal of this study was provided to children in the experimental group at the researcher's classroom after school for 13 sessions, two sessions per week. The self-concept test manufactured by Song In-seop (1996), the school life adaptation test developed by Lee Yeong-seon (1997), and the experimental group's school life drawing (KSD) were used to test an effect of the program. For data analysis, two methods, a quantitative analysis of two tests and a qualitative analysis of KSD, were used. The findings were as follows: After implementing the art treatment program with the experimental group, there was significant improvement in all areas. This study concluded that if a group art treatment program is applied to elementary school practice, it will help isolated children improve their self-concept and ability to adapt themselves to the school life.

Impact of Depression, Comorbid Chronic Diseases, and ADL on Health-Related Quality of Life Among Community-Dwelling Elderly People in Korea (한국의 지역사회 거주노인들에게 있어서 우울증, 만성질환, 일상생활활동이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of study was evaluated associations among risk factors to have influence on HRQOL of community dwelling Elderly People. Total 314 community dwelling elderly persons(age:$75.80{\pm}5.64$[$mean{\pm}SD$]) who had no disease(n=81) and more than two chronic diseases (n=233) were interviewed based on the QOL questionnaires. During two months. The activities of daily living were evaluated using BI and FAI. Neuropsychological status was evaluated using GDS. Health related QOL was evaluated using the SF-36. The results emphasize the importance of preventing and controlling depression, chronic diseases, and low basic activities of daily living in order to reduce their impact on HRQOL among community dwelling elderly people.

Study of Life History of Elderly Women who had Six Times of Imprisonment (여섯 번의 수감 생활을 한 여성 노인의 생애사 재구성)

  • This study was to explore the life history of an elderly woman who had six times of imprisonment and entered a Samchung re-education camp. This study of life history followed the analysis of Mandelbaum(1973) pointing three perspectives of life: dimensions, turnings, and adaptations. Participant's dimensions of life were exploitation of labor, hostess life for U.S. military, prison life, Samchung re-education camp, marriage with the disabled, life of a farm worker. Turnings of life were serving as a maid, confinement of prison, life of hostess for living, being remanded to Samchung re-education camp by state violence, marriage and divorce, denial of social welfare service. Adaptations of life were downright adaptation in early life, exaggerated act in juvenile reformatory, prostituted women as a simple fortune-maker, adaption as a good wife and wise mother after marriage, resistive adaption as a self-employed. and farm worker. Based upon this results outcome, discussions and implications were suggested.

The Effect of Motivation for Major Choice and Satisfaction in Major on the Adaption of university Life among university students (대학생의 전공선택 동기 및 전공만족도가 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of motivation for the selection of major and satisfaction in the major on the adaption of university life among university students and to present basic data to assist in the healthy adaption of university life. A survey was given to university students in Seoul and Chungcheong cities from October 13 to October 27, 2015 of 250 copies of the questionnaire distributed, a total of 242 copies were in the final analysis. For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 for Windows was used. As a result, there were correlations among the variables, the adaption of University life of university students was affected by the personal motivation, social motivation for the selection of major with the largest effect being class satisfaction. The explanatory power was 38%. In conclusion, it is important to develop teaching and learning programs and counselling students considering class satisfaction for improving the adaption to university life.

Mediating Effect of Social Support in the Influence of Interpersonal Sensitivity on College Life Satisfaction (대인예민성이 대학생활만족도에 미치는 영향에서 사회적지지의 매개효과)

  • This study was conducted to find a method of improving social support in college students by analyzing the effects of interpersonal sensitivity and social support on college life satisfaction. To achieve the purpose of the study, questionnaires were distributed to 475 students in six colleges located in Busan Metropolitan City and the collected data were used for analysis. Then, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted using the SPSS statistic program. The major study findings are as follows. First, interpersonal sensitivity negatively influenced social support. Second, interpersonal sensitivity negatively influenced college life satisfaction. Third, social support positively influenced college life satisfaction. Fourth, social support had a mediating effect in the influence of interpersonal sensitivity on college life satisfaction. These study findings demonstrate that there is a need to develop a psychological counseling program for reducing interpersonal sensitivity of college students and improving social support and expand an interpersonal relationship and family relationship improvement program.

A Study on the Job Satisfaction of Wage Workers with Disabilities: Focusing on the Paths of Job Engagement (장애인 임금근로자의 직무적합, 직무만족, 직무몰입이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향에 대한 경로분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the causal relations among related factors of job and life satisfaction among 805 wage workers with disabilities. The study conducted a path analysis using the $8^{th}$ Panel survey of Employment for the Disabled data. The results are as follows. Firstly, the life satisfaction scale was categorized into the human relationship satisfaction and the material environment satisfaction by an explorative factor analysis. These two satisfactions are directly affected by Job Satisfaction (JS) and Job Involvement (JI), not directly affected by Job Engagement (JE). Secondly, JS and JI have a complete mediated effect on the path from JE to these two satisfactions. Thirdly, an indirect effect in the path reaching JS was shown to be significant in a dual mediating effect through JS and JI. Based on this study, it is recommended the way of vocational rehabilitation counseling and the related supporting strategies and programs devise toward a JS of wage workers with disabilities, vocational rehabilitation field practitioners and professionals should consider properly intervening job factors.

The Effect of Acceptance of Disability on Life Satisfaction of Developmental Disabilities Employed: The Mediating Effects of Job Satisfaction and Interpersonal Relationship (취업한 발달장애인의 장애수용이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향: 직무만족도와 대인관계의 매개효과)

  • This study sought to verify the mediating effect of job satisfaction and interpersonal relationships in the effect of disability acceptance of employed people with developmental disabilities on life satisfaction. To this end, we perform a structural equation model analysis using the 4th survey data in 2019, which has the highest level of communication among the 2nd wave of employment panel for the disabled, resulting in the following results. First, it has been confirmed that the degree of disability acceptance of employed people with developmental disabilities has a positive affect on their life satisfaction. Second, Third, job satisfaction are mediated in the effect of disability acceptance of employed people with developmental disabilities on life satisfaction. Third, interpersonal relationships are mediated in the effect of disability acceptance of employed people with developmental disabilities on life satisfaction. Based on the above findings, implications and suggestions were presented.
