  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for generation of multi-view video from conventional 2 dimensional video. Color and motion information of an object are used for segmentation and from the segmented objects, multi-view video is generated. Especially, color information is used to extract the boundary of an object that is barely extracted by using motion information. To classify the homogeneous regions with color, luminance and chrominance components are used. A pixel-based motion estimation with a measurement window is also performed to obtain motion information. Then, we combine the results from motion estimation and color segmentation and consequently we obtain a depth information by assigning motion intensity value to each segmented region. Finally, we generate multi-view video by applying rotation transformation method to 2 dimensional input images and the obtained depth information in each object. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms comparing with conventional conversion methods.

  • This study is purposed to investigate the role of grasses as the Green Foundation effect on the visual preference to flowering tree and shrub being the principal elements of natural landscape early in the spring. As the flowering shrub materials, Rhododendron mucronulatum and Forsythia Kreana were adopted. Total 48 slides were photographed at the 8 different lawn areas with the 6 planting combinations of flowering shrub materials, and 10 landscape variables - dimensional and color - were measured and preference scores were taken by slide evaluations. The results were : 1) The visual preference to the landscape of flowering shrub in the lawn area was changed with the different lawn situations. 2) With important 4 variables, multilinear regression model was established, hence Y =40.4 + 9.6($X_1$) -7.8($X_2$) -26.8($X_3$) + 15.2($X_4$) where, Y : estimated preference score $X_1$: perimeter of flower zone $X_2$: value of green covered zone $X_3$: hue of green covered zone $X_4$: chroma of green covered zone 3) Most effective variable was 'hue of green covered zone', hence the more green the lawn area ism the more preferred landscape or the more effective green foundation is.

  • In this paper, we propose an ambient light control method based on the difference of image frames in video. The proposed method is composed of three steps. 1) The first step is to extract a dominant color of a current frame. 2) The second step is to compute the amount of change and the representative color in the changed region using the difference image. 3) The third step is to make a new representative color. The difference image is created from two images transformed into the YUV color space. The summed color difference of each pixel is used for the amount of change. The new representative color is created by synthesizing the current color and the changed color in proportion to the amount of change. We compare the variations of the light effect according to time with and without the proposed method for the same video. The result shows that the new method generates more dynamic light effects.

  • Displays, playing an essential role in HCI, have been developed to deliver more vivid and live pictures. LCD and PDP have the most common usage among various displays to present the dynamic textual information in restricted and open places. Important and unsolicited information is being provided by hundreds of displays while we don't even perceive the information. Watching context, effective color combinations of the text and background, speeds of presentation, contexts, and types of display for leading method, moving words cross the display from right to left, were investigated with readability, comprehensibility, and overall satisfaction were compared. LCD peformed better than PDP on all comparisons u4th typical text (black, white) and background (white, black) color better than other color combinations. Normal and fast text presentation was believed more preferred when only textual information was given while slower presentation was evaluated more efficient if multimedia contents were presented with textual information.

  • For an effective pre-treatment process of a face input image, it is necessary to detect each of face components, calculate the face area, and estimate the rotary angle of the face. A proposed method of this study can estimate an robust result under such renditions as some different levels of illumination, variable fate sizes, fate rotation angels, and background color similar to skin color of the face. The first step of the proposed method detects the estimated face area that can be calculated by both adapted skin color Information of the band-wide HSV color coordinate converted from RGB coordinate, and skin color Information using histogram. Using the results of the former processes, we can detect a lip area within an estimated face area. After estimating a rotary angle slope of the lip area along the X axis, the method determines the face shape based on face information. After detecting eyes in face area by matching a partial template which is made with both eyes, we can estimate Y axis rotary angle by calculating the eye´s locations in three dimensional space in the reference of the face area. As a result of the experiment on various face images, the effectuality of proposed algorithm was verified.

  • Retinex algorithm enhances the contrast of image through visibility improvement. However, the conventional Retinex methods may produces color distortions due to error of hue representation and over-saturation since the methods work in RGB color space. In this paper, we propose a new Retinex algorithm with color correction, which improves contrast by using MSR(Multi-Scale Retinex) working in YCbCr color space and adaptively compensates the color saturation based on the maximum color difference table. Our algorithm maps the color difference signals to the correct gamut to prevent over-saturation phenomenon by considering the correlation between luminance and hue dependent saturation. Simulations results show that the proposed method gives better color improvement compared to the conventional methods.

  • Palletized color images are the dominant type of the image used on Internet and World-Wide Web. In spite of this, most image compression and progressive transmission algorithm have been designed for continuous-tone images. Pallettize images. Palletized images differ from continuous-tone images in such a aspect that values are lookup table indices a new pyramid structure for compression and progressive transmission of a palletized image. In the proposed pyramid structure, the color of a node at higher level is the one that occupies the most part in 4 sons and each node is represented by a type code and several color codes. Since the proposed method do not exploit spatial correlation in an image, it is ideally applied to lossless compression and progressive transmission of palletized images. We have confirmed this through the experimental results.

  • Most multimedia signals contain image data, so the problem of efficient processing and transmitting the image data is an important task of the information society. This paper proposes a compression algorithm that reduces the color bits according to importance using YUV color space among the various methods of compressing image data. 4: 2: 2 subsampling is the standard in the field of video. Using the color information and the characteristics of the human retina, YUV color data was reduced by 4: 2: 2 subsampling. The YUV images and RGB images can be interconverted using the transformation matrix. The image data was converted into color space by YUV, and the relatively low U and V bits were subjected to a downscaling operation. The data was then compressed through 4: 2: 2 subsampling. The performance of the proposed algorithm was compared and analyzed by a comparison with existing methods. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to compress the image without reducing the information of the low importance color element and without significant deterioration in the quality compared to the original.

  • This paper proposes a CNN-ViT hybrid model that automatically evaluates the aesthetic quality of images by combining local and global features. In this approach, CNN is used to extract local features such as color and object placement, while ViT is employed to analyze the aesthetic value of the image by reflecting global features. Color composition is derived by extracting the primary colors from the input image, creating a color palette, and then passing it through the CNN. The Rule of Thirds is quantified by calculating how closely objects in the image are positioned near the thirds intersection points. These values provide the model with critical information about the color balance and spatial harmony of the image. The model then analyzes the relationship between these factors to predict scores that align closely with human judgment. Experimental results on the AADB image database show that the proposed model achieved a Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient (SRCC) of 0.716, indicating more consistent rank predictions, and a Pearson Correlation Coefficient (LCC) of 0.72, which is 2~4% higher than existing models.

  • Chroma key technique which composes images by separating an object from its background in specific color has restrictions on color and space. Especially, unlike general chroma key technique, image composition for stereo 3D display requires natural image composition method in 3D space. The thesis attempted to compose images in 3D space using depth keying method which uses high resolution depth information. High resolution depth map was obtained through camera calibration between the DSLR and Kinect sensor. 3D mesh model was created by the high resolution depth information and mapped with RGB color value. Object was converted into point cloud type in 3D space after separating it from its background according to depth information. The image in which 3D virtual background and object are composed obtained and played stereo 3D images using a virtual camera.
