Face Region Detection using a Color Union Model and The Levenberg-Marquadt Algorithm (색상 조합 모델과 LM(Levenberg-Marquadt)알고리즘을 이용한 얼굴 영역 검출)

  • This paper proposes an enhanced skin color-based detection method to find a region of human face in color images. The proposed detection method combines three color spaces, RGB, $YC_bC_r$, YIQ and builds color union histograms of luminance and chrominance components respectively. Combined color union histograms are then fed in to the back-propagation neural network for training and Levenberg-Marquadt algorithm is applied to the iteration process of training. Proposed method with Levenberg-Marquadt algorithm applied to training process of neural network contributes to solve a local minimum problem of back-propagation neural network, one of common methods of training for face detection, and lead to make lower a detection error rate. Further, proposed color-based detection method using combined color union histograms which give emphasis to chrominance components divided from luminance components inputs more confident values at the neural network and shows higher detection accuracy in comparison to the histogram of single color space. The experiments show that these approaches perform a good capability for face region detection, and these are robust to illumination conditions.

A Study on Sensibility Image of Necktie according to Width and Color Combination of Checked Pattern (체크패턴의 폭과 색채조합에 따른 넥타이의 감성이미지 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the sensibility image of necktie according to width and color combination of checked pattern. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 18 color pictures, in which the width(small: 0.2cm, medium: 1cm, large: 2cm), tone combination(similar, contrast), and hue combination(WR: white+red, WB: white+blue, WG: white+gray) were manipulated. The 7-point scale was used for evaluation of sensibility image. The subjects of this research were 216 female college students living in Gyeongnam. The investigation was carried out at September 2009. The data were analyzed by using SPSS program. Analysis methods were ANOVA and Duncan-test. The results of this study were as follows.; The analyses of sensibility for necktie according to width and color combination of checked pattern revealed that the concerned factors are five characteristic dimensions of attractiveness, youth, appeal, elegance, and warmness. Width showed an independent effect on appeal. Tone combination showed an independent effect on attractiveness, appeal, elegance, and warmness. Interaction effects of width and tone combination on attractiveness were found. Hue combination showed an independent effect on all dimensions. In addition, significant interaction effects of width and hue combination on attractiveness, youth, appeal, and elegance were found. Significant interaction effects of tone combination and hue combination on attractiveness, youth, and appeal were found.

  • 본 연구는 간호사복의 색상 및 문양에 따른 이미지를 분석하고, 색상과 문양이 조합을 이루었을 때 어떤 이미지로 통합되는지를 규명하고, 피험자에 따라 이미지지각의 차이를 알아보는데 목적이 있었다. 연구방법으로는 준실험 연구방법으로 피험자간 설계를 하였으며, 피험자는 대전, 충남지역의 대학생을 대상으로 시행하여 통계에 적합한 739부를 사용하였다. 연구에 사용된 자극물은 간호사복 catalog에서 선택한 모델에게, 색상(흰색, 분홍색, 하늘색, 녹색, 베이지색)과 문양(무지, 줄, 꽃)을 조합한 총 13개의 자극물을CAD simulation으로 제작했다.   • Mean-Shift tracking using hue has a problem that it fail in the object tracking when background has similar hue to the object. This paper proposes an improved Mean-Shift tracking algorithm using new data instead of a hue. The new data is generated by adaptive mixture of hue and saturation which have low interrelationship . That is, the proposed algorithm selects a main attribute of color that is able to distinguish the object and background well and a secondary one which don't, and places their upper 4 bits on upper 4 bits and lower 4 bits on the mixture data, respectively. The proposed algorithm properly tracks the object, keeping tracking error maximum 2.0~4.2 pixel and average 0.49~1.82 pixel, by selecting the saturation as the main attribute of color under tracking environment that background has similar hue to the object.

  • In this paper, we evaluated the effect with respect to the light of 700-1,100 nm NIR(near infrared radiation) for spectrophotometer. Standard, red, yellow, green and blue color paper which was Munsell color paper were used for experiments. Our used light is incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, invert fluorescent lamp and combined lamp. Each color paper was measured 20 times. Therefore we concluded that it is possible to build a spectrophotometer for NIR(near infrared radiation) measurement we applied an spectrophotometer to measurement system in incandescent lamp.

  • 얼굴영상을 효율적으로 처리하기 위해선 먼저 입력영상에서 얼굴영역과 얼굴을 구성하는 각 기관을 검출하는 전처리과정이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 얼굴의 크기와 얼굴의 회전, 조영의 변화가 어느 정도 허용되고 피부색 배경이 얼굴에 병합된 경우에도 얼굴영역과 얼굴기관(눈, 입)을 강건하게 검출할 수 있는 방법으로, 입력영상에 따른 적응적 칼라 색상정보와 얼굴기관의 부분 템플릿매칭을 조합한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 변환된 HSV 칼라 좌표계상의 대역적 피부색상 정보와 히스토그램을 이용한 적응적 피부색상 정보로 얼굴영역을 검출한 뒤, 얼굴영역 안에서 입술색상 정보로 도출된 입술영역의 X축 기울기를 이용해 회전얼굴을 보정하고, 양안의 조합으로 이루어진 부분 템플릿을 이용해 눈을 검출한다.

Normalized Region Extraction of Facial Features by Using Hue-Based Attention Operator (색상기반 주목연산자를 이용한 정규화된 얼굴요소영역 추출)

  • A hue-based attention operator and a combinational integral projection function(CIPF) are proposed to extract the normalized regions of face and facial features robustly against illumination variation. The face candidate regions are efficiently detected by using skin color filter, and the eyes are located accurately nil robustly against illumination variation by applying the proposed hue- and symmetry-based attention operator to the face candidate regions. And the faces are confirmed by verifying the eyes with the color-based eye variance filter. The proposed CIPF, which combines the weighted hue and intensity, is applied to detect the accurate vertical locations of the eyebrows and the mouth under illumination variations and the existence of mustache. The global face and its local feature regions are exactly located and normalized based on these accurate geometrical information. Experimental results on the AR face database[8] show that the proposed eye detection method yields better detection rate by about 39.3% than the conventional gray GST-based method. As a result, the normalized facial features can be extracted robustly and consistently based on the exact eye location under illumination variations.

  • 내용 기반 이미지 데이터베이스의 검색을 위해서 low-level 특징에 기반한 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웨이브릿 변환에 기반한 색상과 질감 특징을 이용한 내용기반 이미지 검색 시스템을 제안한다. 다양한 색상 정보로부터 추출한 인덱스 키와 웨이브릿 변환에 의해 추출한 질감 특징을 통계적 확률 분석 방법에 적용시킨 검색 시스템이다. 이러한 색상과 질감에 대한 효과적인 조합으로 보다 효율적이고 정확성 높은 결과를 도출함을 실험을 통하여 제시한다.
