Automatic Generation Method of Road Data based on Spatial Information (공간정보에 기반한 도로 데이터 자동생성 방법)

  • VEfficient generation of road data is one of the most important issues in GIS (Geographic Information System). In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach for automatic generation of road data by combining mobile mapping and image processing techniques. Mobile mapping systems have a form of vehicle equipped with CCD camera, GPS, and INS. They can calculate absolute position of objects that appear in acquired image by photogrammetry, but it is labor-intensive and time-consuming. Automatic road detection methods have been studied also by image processing technology. However, the methods are likely to fail because of obstacles and exceptive conditions in the real world. To overcome the problems, we suggest a hybrid method for automatic road generation, by exploiting both GPS/INS data acquired by mobile mapping system and image processing algorithms. We design an estimator to estimate 3-D coordinates of road line and corresponding location in an image. The estimation process reduces complicated image processing operations that find road line. The missing coordinates of road line due to failure of estimation are obtained by cubic spline interpolation. The interpolation is done piecewise, separated by rapid change such as road intersection. We present experimental results of the suggested estimation and interpolation methods with image sequences acquired by mobile mapping system, and show that the methods are effective in generation of road data.

  • 정보검색 시스템을 대하는 대부분의 이용자의 대답은 '이용하기에 어렵다'라는 것이다. 기계적인 정보검색을 기본 철학으로 하는 기존의 matching paradigm은 정보 곡체를 여기 저기 내용을 옮길 수 있는 물건으로 간주한다. 그리고 기존의 정보시스템은 이용자가 시스템을 구성한 사람의 의도 (즉, indexing, cataloguing rule)를 완전히 이해한다면, 즉 완전하게 질문식(query)을 작성한다면, 효과적인 검색을 할 수 있는 그런 시스템이다. 그러나 어느 이용자가 그 복잡한 시스템을 이해하고 정보검색을 할 수 있겠는가? 한마디로 시스템을 설계한 사람의 의도로 이용자가 적응해서 검색을 한다는 것은 아주 힘든 일이다. 그러나 우리가 이용자에 대한 인식을 다시 한다면 보다 나은 시스템을 만들 수 있다고 본다. 우리 인간은 아주 창조적이어서 자기가 처한 상황에서 이치에 맞게끔 자기 나름대로의 행동을 할 수 있다(sense-making approach). 이 사실을 인식한다면, 왜 이용자들의 행동양식에 시스템 설계자가 적응을 못하는 것인가? 하고 의문을 던질 수 있다. 앞으로의 시스템이 이용자들의 자연스러운 행동 패턴에 맞게 끔 설계된다면 기존의 시스템과 함께 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 편리한 시스템이 설계될 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 도서관 및 정보학 연구에 있어서 기존의 분류. 목록에 대한 연구와 이용자체에 대한연구(예를 들면, 몇 시에 이용자가 많은가? 어떤 종류의 책을 어떤 계충에서 많이 보는가? 도서 및 잡지가 어떻게 양적으로 성장해 왔는가? 등등의 use study)와 함께 여기서 제시한 제3의 요소인 이용자의 인식(cognition)을 시스템설계에 반드시 도입을 해야만 한다고 본다(user-centric approach). 즉 이용자를 중간 중간에서 도울 수 있는 facilitator가 많이 제공되어야 한다. 이용자의 다양한 패턴의 정보요구(information needs)에 부응할 수 있고, 질문식(query)을 잘 만들 수 없는 이용자를 도울 수 있고(ASK hypothesis: Anomolous State of Knowledge), 어떤 질문식 없이도 자유스럽게 Browsing할 수 있는(예를 들면 hypertext) 시스템을 설계하기 위해서는 눈에 보이는 이용자의 행동패턴(external behavior)도 중요하지만 우리 눈에는 보이지 않는 이용자의 심리상태를 이해한다면 훨씬 나은 시스템을 만들 수 있다. 이용자가 '왜?' '어떤 상황에서,' '어떤 목적으로,' '어떻게,' 정보를 검색하는지에 대해서 새로운 관심을 들려서 이용자들이 얼마나 우리 시스템 설계자들의 의도에 미치지 못한다는 사실을 인식 해야한다. 이 분야의 연구를 위해서는 새로운 paradigm이 필수적으로 필요하다고 본다. 단지 'user-study'만으로는 부족하며 새로운 시각으로 이용자를 연구해야 한다. 가령 새롭게 설치된 computer-assisted system에서 이용자들이 어떻게, 그리핀 어떤 분야에서 왜 그렇게 오류 (error)를 범하는지 분석한다면 앞으로의 computer 시스템 선계에 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 믿는다. 실제로 많은 방법이 개발되고 있다. 그러면 시스템 설계자가 가졌던 이용자들이 이러 이러한 방식으로 정보검색을 할 것이라는 예측과(즉, conceptual model) 실제 이용자들이 정보검색을 할 때 일어나는 행동패턴 사이에는(즉, mental model) 상당한 차이점이 있다는 것을 알게 될 것이다. 이 차이점을 줄이는 것이 시스템 설계자의 의무라고 생각한다. 결론적으로, Computer에 대한 새로운 지식과 함께 이용자들의 인식을 연구할 수 있는, 철학적이고 방법론적인 연구를 계속하나가면서, 이용자들의 행동패턴을 어떻게 시스템 설계에 적용할 수 있는 지를 연구해야 한다. 중요하게 인식해야할 사실은 구 Paradigm을 완전히 무시하라는 것은 아니고 단지 이용자에 대한 새로운 인식을 추가하자는 것이다. 그것이 진정한 User Study가 될 수 있는 길이라고 생각하며, 컴퓨터와 이용자 사이의 '원활한 의사교환'이 필수불가결 한 지금 우리 학문이 가야 할 한 연구분야이다.   • Recently GPS and mobile GIS technologies based on LBS(location based service) have played an important role as DSS(decision supporting system) for domestic forest fire extinguishment policies. In this study forest fire extinguishments information management system based on mobile GIS technique was designed to seize the exact location on wireless network so that it helps to guide the safe and efficient extinguishments affairs and provide the extinguishments environment toward ground fighting teams and the central forest government in real time. Moreover, possibly to operate this system, the foundation technologies by the name of '.gci' such as the spatial data compression method, the spatial data transmission method over wireless network and the spatial analysis interface on PDA should be mainly considered. Especially, in this study the spatial data compression method having high compression rate from 51% to 62% for each polygon, line, and point data, without the loss of data was developed.

  • Image-based traffic information collection systems have entered widespread adoption and use in many countries since these systems are not only capable of replacing existing loop-based detectors which have limitations in management and administration, but are also capable of providing and managing a wide variety of traffic related information. In addition, these systems are expanding rapidly in terms of purpose and scope of use. Currently, the utilization of image processing technology in the field of traffic accident management is limited to installing surveillance cameras on locations where traffic accidents are expected to occur and digitalizing of recorded data. Accurately recording the sequence of situations around a traffic accident in a signal intersection and then objectively and clearly analyzing how such accident occurred is more urgent and important than anything else in resolving a traffic accident. Therefore, in this research, we intend to present a technology capable of overcoming problems in which advanced existing technologies exhibited limitations in handling real-time due to large data capacity such as object separation of vehicles and tracking, which pose difficulties due to environmental diversities and changes at a signal intersection with complex traffic situations, as pointed out by many past researches while presenting and implementing an active and environmentally adaptive methodology capable of effectively reducing false detection situations which frequently occur even with the Gaussian complex model analytical method which has been considered the best among well-known environmental obstacle reduction methods. To prove that the technology developed by this research has performance advantage over existing automatic traffic accident recording systems, a test was performed by entering image data from an actually operating crossroad online in real-time. The test results were compared with the performance of other existing technologies.

  • The purpose of this study is to raise the issue of the existing deinstitutionalization debate, considering only the shipment process to these two spaces, and still leaving the inter-facility circulation of vulnerable mental handicapped who are still hanging around the facility. In particular, we sought to supplement the discussion of deinstitutionalization by illuminating the problems of those who have to rely on facilities, as well as the mental health facility system and the homeless facility system. In the case of homeless persons with mental disabilities who repeatedly use the mental health facility system and the homeless facility system, they confirmed the pattern of using the facilities by constantly changing the place to manage the overlapping risk of mental illness and homelessness. Also it is triggered by the voluntary nature of the parties with no resources and resources. This situation appeared to be inevitable in the absence of resources and supportive systems that would actually enable a life in the community. Nevertheless, I asserted that the life of the mentally handicapped, which is circling the facility, is extremely unstable and is not desirable from a welfare point of view.

A Study on the Origin of Record Continuum Theory : Focusing on the Comparison with Record Lifecycle Model (레코드 컨티뉴엄 이론의 기원에 관한 연구 라이프사이클 모델과의 비교를 중심으로)

  • In this study, the origin of the record continuum theory was analyzed in conjunction with the record management situation in Australia after the mid-20th century and record lifecycle model. For an in-depth understanding of the record continuum theory, it is necessary to consider the background and process of its formation, and to analyze the lifecycle model itself in terms of a theoretical system built with reflections on the lifecycle model. To this end, first of all, with the aim of analyzing the historical background of the formation of the record continuum theory, the background and process that led to intensive illumination of the US lifecycle model in the process of seeking an independent public records management system in Australia in the 1950s were reviewed. Then, the meaning and limitations of the lifecycle model were considered along with the background of the formation. In order to examine the main contents, significance, and limitations of the lifecycle model, it is necessary to analyze the circumstances under which it was formed. Based on this analysis, finally, the problems associated with the application of the lifecycle model in Australia's new record creation environment, as well as the factors that were the origin of the newly born record continuum theory were examined.

A study on the clinical usefulness and improvement of hearing in noise test in evaluating central auditory processing (중추 청각 처리 기능 평가에서 hearing in noise test의 임상적 유용성과 개선점 고찰)

  • Speech recognition in noise situation is an important skill for effective communication. Hearing In Noise Test (HINT) has been suggested as a clinical tool to evaluate these aspects. However, this tool has not been used widely in domestic clinics. In this study, psychophysical aspects of HINT and burdens in clinical application were analyzed to improve the applicability of the tool. The difficulty in understanding speech in the elderly population is due to hearing loss based on aging of peripheral and central auditory pathways. As typical clinical cases, HINT scores for young and elderly listeners (20s vs 70s) were compared. Four conditions of HINT test were Quiet (Q), Noise Front (NF), Noise Right (NR), and Noise Left (NL). Quantitative scores showed that the elderly listener required more Signal to Noris Ratio (SNR) values than the younger counterpart in noisy situations. Although both showed Binaural Masking Level Difference (BMLD) effect, the strength was smaller in the elder. However, the age-matched normalized data were not established in detail for clinical application. Confirmed usefulness of HINT and the related improvement in clinical measuring procedure were suggested.

  • After the occurrence of several passenger ship accidents in Korea, various systems are being developed for passenger ship safety management. A total of 162 passenger ships operate along the coast of Korea, of which 105 (65 %) are car-ferries with open vehicle decks. The car-ferry has a navigation pattern that passes through 2 to 4 islands. Safety inspections at the departure point(home port) are carried out by the crew, the operation supervisor of the operation management office, and the maritime safety supervisor. In some cases, self-inspections are carried out for safety inspections at layovers. As with any system, there are institutional and practical limitations. To this end, this study was conducted to suggest a method of detecting a vehicle using image processing and linking it to the calculations for ship stability. For vehicle detection, a method using a difference image and one using machine learning were used. However, a limitation was observed in these methods that the vehicle could not be identified due to strong background lighting from the pier and the ship in the cases where the camera was backlit such as during sunset or at night. It appears necessary to secure sufficient image data and upgrade the program for stable image processing.

  • Smart home is a technology for monitoring and controlling all the information about a house by integrating various home applications like cooling, heating, lighting, kitchen and security systems into a network. Although home appliances have become more convenient to use due to the development of smart home technology, they are also more vulnerable to information security hazards. Unauthorized visitors may have access to any of home appliance to arbitrarily control it or acquire information. This causes serious privacy and security problems, which should be solved to further smart home technology. This present paper proposed a dynamic user access control system for privacy protection in smart homes. The proposed system defines the role of a user of smart home services by automatically identifying the status information of the user and dynamically controls the access range for the service. In this way, the privacy of a user can be protected and the inter-smart device service is effectively provided. Consequently, the proposed dynamic user access control for smart home will improve the security service for protecting privacy in smart home devices.

Passenger's Electrocardiogram Change due to Color Temperature in Case of Elevator Jam (승강기 갇힘 사고 시 색 온도에 의한 이용자의 심전도 변화)

  • This study aims to suggest the most stable color temperature that can relieve the anxiety of passengers in case of an elevator trapped accident. The experiment was conducted on 10 adult men in their 20s. The color temperature of the interior lighting of the elevator was adjusted to four stages (3,000 K; 6,000 K; 9,000 K; and 12,000 K). Electrocardiogram (ECG) was measured and analyzed to observe the reaction of the user's autonomic nervous system decline in 3,000 K; 6,000 K; 9,000 K compared with 12,000 K, where a statistically significant difference was recognized (p < 0.01). Among them, the activity of the sympathetic nervous system was the lowest under the condition of 3,000 K. Through this study, it was found that the color temperature of 3,000 K induced a sense of stability among passengers in the event of an elevator jam. If the results of this study are used, it seems that the stability of passengers will be secured in the event of an elevator jam.
