A Financial Theory of the Demand for Insurance With Simultaneous Investment Opportunities (투자(投資)와 보험수요(保險需要)의 상관관계(相關關係)에 관한 재무경제학적(財務經濟學的) 연구(硏究))

  • This paper develops a theory of the demand for insurance. The present model incorporates insurance demand time value of insurance premium, and demand for listless and risky assets simultaneously within the expected utility framework. For a special case of CARA, an insurance decision can be made separately from other portfolio decisions. However, in general, the interactions of both decisions cannot be ignored even when insurable and speculative risks are stochastically independent. In particular, the role of risky investment in hedging insurable risk is demonstrated and it is shown that this role cannot be duplicated by an insurance contract. When the investment decision is made simultaneously with the insurance decision, some of the classic theory on insurance should be modified. As an example, the authors characterize the sufficient conditions, under which the Bernoulli criteria (without and with premium loadings) hold or are violated in terms of the net gain of risky investment, the net cost of insurance, and the stochastic relationship between insurable and speculative risks. The authors interpret the results using the Rothschild and Stiglitz's (1970) notion of 'increase in riskiness'.

The Linkage of Foreign Direct Investment, Economic Growth, and Environmental Regulations : Scale Effect and Technique Effect (외국인직접투자, 경제성장, 환경규제의 관계분석 : 규모효과와 기술효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate the impact of foreign direct investment on environmental performance for 27 OECD countries using endogenous environmental policy model. The empirical test shows that with 1% increase in the ratio of inflow stock of foreign direct investment over domestic capital stock, emission on NOx and $CO_2$ will increase by 0.0071%(NOx) and 0.0165%($CO_2$) and 1% increase in the ratio of foreign capital stock induces 0.044%(fixed effect) and 0.047%(random effect) of economic growth. 1% increase of per labor total output increases 2.038%(fixed effect) or 1.890%(random effect) in reinforcement of environmental regulation. However, we could not confirm the Porter's hypothesis that the more strong environmental regulation leads technical innovation. The scale effects (0.0119, 0.0172) are estimated higher than the technical effects (-0.0048, -0.0007) in two pollutants (NOx, $CO_2$). It implies that each country needs to increase pollution abatement and control expenditure more aggressively to protect environment.

The Effectiveness of Image and Attitude on Extension Brand Loyalty in the Foodservice Industry (확장된 외식브랜드이미지와 브랜드태도가 브랜드충성도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In the severely competitive market, brand extension strategy has become a key strategy to the companies that are trying to expand in the new market and to cut down the marketing cost. In conclusion, following results are deduced. First, hypothesis 1(H-1) refers to the relationship between image of extension brand and attitude of extension brand, and it shows path-coefficients value of 0.43, and t-value of 4.21 which supports the hypothesis statistically. Second, H-2 is the result of the analysis of relationship between attitude of extension brand and loyalty of extension brand and consequently the hypothesis is supported by the path-coefficients value of 0.29 and t-value of 3.08. The results of this study provided very useful information for both foodservice industry and academics. At first, in the theocratical point of view, this study suggests a new concept the foodservice brand extension. Consequently in marketing point of view, the results of this study recommend several strategies of foodservice brand extension using foodservice image, attitude and loyalty.

  • This study investigates human-robot interactions in a museum environment. Unlike robots in movies, robots in real life do not have 'personality,' but instead have a specific purpose and function. This research is primarily about the assignment of specific and appropriate personalities to robots in different contexts. Methods by which a definite personality can be imparted on a robot are discussed in this research. Previous research has addressed attempts to assign a robot personality based on the task context. However, the discussion of robot personality is incomplete. Therefore, we assumed that a robot's character was dependent on the characteristics of its location of use. We planned a $2{\times}2$ comparison of various robot personalities, i.e., introverted or extroverted paired with either a traditional museum or a process-oriented experiential experience. Based on Schmitt's (1999) strategic experiential modules, experiential factors were derived for each set of conditions. To achieve the objectives of the research, theoretical and empirical research were conducted simultaneously. The software JMP 9 was used to verify the research model and hypotheses.

  • The objective of this study was to explain structural relations among perceived justice of service recovery, customer's emotion and satisfaction in the airline service sector. For this purpose, using a sample of 272 airline service customers who experienced complaints with airline service, we investigate the effects of the dimensions of perceived justice on the emotions triggered by service recovery. In this study, 4 hypotheses based on literature reviews were employed. The data and hypotheses were examined using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) by AMOS. The main findings are as follows. Firstly, procedural justice has an effect on both positive and negative emotions. Secondly, both interaction justice and distributive justice have effects on positive emotion but not on negative emotion. Lastly, only positive emotion has influence on recovery satisfaction.

A Study on the Types of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo" and Its Genealogy ("거경정리표(距京程里表)"의 내용유형과 계통에 관한 연구)

  • As well as "Sangyeongpyo," "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo," table of national road transportation system is important to comprehend identity of national geography in Joseon era even if it had not been researched yet. The aim of this study is to divide type of these tables and find its genealogy through mainly analyzing the road network and land names. As the result of this research, "Yeojigo," topographical researches of Korea, edited by Shin Gyeong-Jun as a palt of "Dongguk-Munheonbigo" official book in natural history of the Joseon Dynasty published in 1770, might be identified as the origin for all copy of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo." Then "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo," can be divided into at least three major types; almost direct descent of "Yeoji go" as 'type1', minor modification as 'type2', and hybrid edition(type3) with second type that quoted many land names as route information from "Dorogo," another topography specialized for road transportation. Since "Dorogo" was also composed by Shin, after all, all genealogy of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo" came from him.

A Study on Structural Relationships among Port Service Quality, Satisfaction, Trust and Loyalty of the Busan New Port -Based on the Moderating Effect of Switching Barrier (부산항 신항의 항만서비스품질.만족.신뢰 및 충성도 간의 구조적 관계: 전환장벽의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Based on the review of the existing studies, this study built the conceptual framework describing the structural relationships among port service quality dimensions(port internal service quality, external service quality, interaction quality), customer satisfaction, customer trust and customer loyalty. In specific, switching barrier was included as moderator in customer satisfaction and customer loyalty relationships. The subjects are the customers who use the Busan New Port. A survey using 317 customers was conducted, Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to test the validity of the measurement model, and AMOS analysis approach was used to gain important insights into how customer retention in the port business can be ensured. Results in this paper indicate that customer trust and satisfaction are identified as antecedents of the port service quality dimensions. Customer satisfaction positively influences trust. Customer trust and satisfaction positively influence loyalty. Switching barrier positively moderates the relationship of customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Finally, this study suggests that the implications of these findings and offers directions for future research.

Gender Differences in Entrepreneurship: The Impact of Social Context (기업가정신의 성별 차이: 사회적 맥락의 영향)

  • This study focused on examining the impact of the social context that causes gender differences in entrepreneurship, not the phenomenon itself. Specifically, this study verified the moderating effect of the social context on the relationship between gender and entrepreneurship using data from 20 countries in the Global Entrepreneurship Trend Report (GETR). In order to test hypotheses involving social context implications, Hofstede's cultural dimension factors such as power distance, individualism, masculinity, and uncertainty avoidance variables, and institutional factors such as gender equality and social security are used as specific variables reflecting the social context. Empirical analysis through GLM found that gender did not independently influence entrepreneurship, and gender had a significant effect by interacting with power distance, individualism, uncertainty avoidance, gender equality, and social security variables, respectively. Such empirical results show that the gender difference in entrepreneurship is not due to the unique characteristics inherent in each gender but on the level of the country's social context to which the individual belongs.

Effect of Beauty Live Commerce Service Quality on Satisfaction, Trust and Loyalty (뷰티 라이브 커머스 서비스품질이 만족, 신뢰, 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of beauty live commerce service quality on satisfaction, trust, and loyalty was investigated. To this end, a total of 246 questionnaires were collected and frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed using the statistical package SPSS 26.0. The main results are as follows. First, it was found that information usefulness, interactivity, and entertainment, which are components of beauty live commerce service quality, had a significant effect on satisfaction and trust. Second, satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on trust and loyalty. Third, trust was found to have a significant effect on loyalty. As a result of the above, all five hypotheses were accepted. In order to induce loyalty, satisfaction and trust must be satisfied.

Impact of Supply Chain Digital Transformation on Corporate Performance (공급망 디지털 전환이 기업 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how supply chain digital transformation affects corporate performance by building supply chain agility and innovation capabilities based on the resource-based view (RBV) theory. The model was verified using structural equation modeling based on a data set of 271 domestic companies, and mediation and moderation analyzes were performed to test the research hypotheses. The study found a positive correlation between supply chain digital transformation and corporate performance that is fully mediated by both supply chain agility and innovation capability, with the potential for the interaction between supply chain agility and innovation capability to have adverse consequences for corporate performance. This study is expected to advance our understanding on the antecedents of corporate performance by integrating supply chain digital transformation and the mediating mechanisms of supply chain agility and innovation capabilities that serve as a conduit between supply chain digital transformation and RBV-based corporate performance.
