  • This study examined the influences of children's playfulness and teacher-child interactions on their peer interactions, and investigated whether teacher-child interactions had any moderating effects upon the relation between child playfulness and peer interactions. The participants of this study were 240 children in fourth year classes in child care centers in Seoul and Gyoung-gi province and 24 of their teachers. In order to measure the research variables, the Korean version of PIPPS(Pen Interaction Peer Play Scale) by Choi and Shin(2008), the Children's Playfulness Scale(Barnett, 1991), and the modified version of the Caregiver Interaction Scale(Arnett, 1989) were used. The data were analyzed by means of descriptive statics, Pearson's correlations, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results indicated that children's playfulness and teacher-child interactions had significant effects on their peer interactions. Especially, the teacher-child interactions were related to the play disruption and the play disconnection of peer interactions. In addition, teacher-child interactions moderated the effect of children's social spontaneity(children's playfulness) on their play disconnection(peer interactions). The results have some implications for the role of teacher-child interactions in peer play interactions and a range of prevention efforts.

  • Tools and methods for interacting with the virtual environment are essential in order for a student to perform the virtual reality education contents. However, since the developed controller has generally been constructed for adults, it is necessary to study interaction tools considering the purpose of education and the level of students. Therefore, this study analyzed elementary and middle school students' perceptions of HMD and interactive tools, which are currently widely used as an initial research for developing interactive tools. Results show that students' perceptions has increased in post-questionnaire compared to pre-questionnaire, indicating that the universal controller can be used in the education. Implications for the development of interaction tools are discussed based on interviews with students.

  • Protein interaction network contains a small number of highly connected protein, denoted hub and many destitutely connected proteins. Recently, several studies described that a hub protein is more likely to be essential than a non-hub protein. This phenomenon called as a centrality-lethality rule. This nile is widely credited to exhibit the importance of hub proteins in the complex network and the significance of network architecture as well. To confirm whether the rule is accurate, we Investigated all protein interaction DBs of yeast in the public sites such as Uetz, Ito, MIPS, DIP, SGB, and BioGRID. Interestingly, the protein network shows that the rule is correct in lower scale DBs (e.g., Uetz, Ito, and DIP) but is not correct in higher scale DBs (e.g., SGD and BioGRID). We are now analyzing the features of networks obtained from the SGD and BioGRD and comparing those of network from the DIP.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the patterns and features of interaction in teacher interviewing with high school students' small group for biology learning. The interactions in variety between the students and between the students and the teacher were made as the interviews with each small group were repeated to feedback for biology learning. The patterns of interaction were categorized into four types by interactive level of interaction among group members and a teacher: leader representation without interaction among students and the teacher(LR, leader representation), interaction among a part of students and the teacher(PSI, partial students interaction), active interaction among students inside the group, but only interaction between the teacher and the leader student(SAI, students active interaction), and interaction between all of the students and the teacher(teacher-students active interaction). Even though complex patterns of interactions were made among the students at the initial stage of insufficient understanding on the study concept, the simple interaction processes were shown as students had gradually completed the understanding on the concept. It was displayed that the interaction in the small group for biology study provides the opportunity to confirm and understand the concept to the students who were poor at the understanding on the concept, and it can influence positively on the mutual creation of study concept.
