A Study on the Removal of Arsenic 1mm Closed-Mine Tailings by Acid-Leaching Process (산침출에 의한 광미중 비소성분의 제거에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the acid leaching and precipitation has been conducted to remove arsenic from the closed-mine tailings. HCI and H$_2$SO$_4$were used as the leach liquor of arsenic and the tailing obtained from the Da-Duck Mine, which was already closed several decades ago, was also used as the source of arsenic. The effect of the concentration of acid, leaching time and the slurry density on the leaching efficiency of arsenic has been examined. In addition, pH controls and the addition of sodium sulfide were also attempted to remove the arsenic compound as the precipitation from the leachate. After 1 hr leaching by HCI, 40 to 86% of arsenic was leached out depending on the concentration of acid or the slurry density while 47 to 77% of it was leached out by $H_2$$SO_4$. The leaching of arsenic by both acids was almost accomplished within 10 min. and after that only a slight increase in leaching efficiency was observed with leaching time. When the leach liquor was used repeatedly for the leaching of arsenic, the concentration of arsenic in the leach liquor was found to increase continuously although the leaching efficiency was diminished. As far as the precipitation of arsenic in the leachate was concerned, more than 99% of arsenic could be precipitated through the addition of sodium sulfide as the precipitator while the pH controls resulted in the precipitation of up to 84%.

  • Leaching experiments from single metal and metallic mixtures were conducted to develop a process for the recovery of cobalt, copper, and nickel in spent lithium ion batteries. Inorganic and organic acid solutions without oxidizing agents were employed. No copper was dissolved in the absence of an oxidizing agent in the leaching solutions. The leaching condition to completely dissolve single metal of cobalt and nickel was determined based on acid concentration, reaction temperature and time, and pulp density. The leaching condition to dissolve all of cobalt and nickel from the metallic mixtures was also obtained. Leaching of the metallic mixture with methanesulfonic acid led to selective dissolution of cobalt at low temperatures.

  • 폐 적층세라믹콘덴서(MLCC)로부터 Ni을 회수하기 위하여 침출실험을 수행하였다. 침출용매로 $HNO_3,\;HCl\;H_2SO_4$을 사용하여 시간의 변화, 반응온도의 변화, 시료 입도와 광액농도의 변화가 Ni의 침출율에 미치는 영향과 최적 침출 조건을 조사하였다. 그 결과 HCl, $H_2SO_4$을 침출용매로 사용했을 때 Ni 침출의 최적 조건은 산농도 5M, 반응온도 $90^{\circ}C$나타났으며, $HNO_3$을 침출용매로 사용했을 때 최적 침출 조건 산농도 1M, 반응온도 $70^{\circ}C$에서 광액농도 500ml당 20g일때 Ni 침출율이 98%로 최대였다.

  • Cement and paraffin waste form were prepared with a acid extraction method for the analysis of radionuclides generated from nuclear power plants. The acid extraction method was carried out with $HNO_3-HCl$ acid. At first, we compared the method with the microwave acid digestion method using SRM. The solutions of decomposed SRM were then analyzed by AAS and ICP-AES. The acid extraction method had shown good results as microwave acid digestion method. This method provided recovery values greater than $80\%$ for metallic elements.

  • The spent petroleum catalysts contain rare metals such as vanadium, nickel, molybdenum, and cobalt. Therefore, the leaching of these rare metals from spent petroleum catalysts by organic acid was investigated in the present study. The leaching efficiency of metals by organic acid was in the following order: oxalic acid > tartaric acid > citric acid > maleic acid > ascorbic acid. Among the organic acids employed in this work, oxalic acid can be considered to be superior to the other acids in terms of metals leaching efficiency. The effect of several leaching conditions such as temperature, acid concentration, pulp density, stirring speed, and reaction time on the leaching of metals was investigated. Vanadium and molybdenum were selectively dissolved by oxalic acid from the spent catalysts. The leaching kinetics of vanadium by oxalic acid was also investigated. An activation energy of 8.76 kJ/mol indicated that the leaching kinetics of vanadium by oxalic acid solution was controlled by mass transfer.

  • Enviromental friendly leaching process for the recovery of cobalt and copper from the cobalt concentrate was investigated by organic acids as a leaching reagent. The experimental parameters, such as organic acid type, concentrations of leachant, time and temperature of the reaction as well as the solid to liquid ratio were tested to obtain the optinum conditions for the leaching of cobalt and copper. The results showed that citric acid was the most effective leaching reagent among the organic acids used in this experiment. About 99% of cobalt, 95% of copper and 70% of nickel was dissolved by 2.0 M of citric acid. Addition of 3.0 vol.% of hydrogen perioxide was effective to enhance the leaching efficiency and the optinum temperature was found to be about $70^{\circ}C$.

  • 희토류 정광으로부터 첨단산업 원료소재로 수요가 급증하고 있는 고순도 희토류 소재를 제조하기 위한 가장 첫 공정은 침출공정이다. 즉, 희토류 정광으로부터 원소별 희토류 성분을 분리하기 위해서는 용액상태로 전환이 필요한데, 이때 일반적인 산 및 알카리 용액에는 희토류 성분은 침출이 되지 않으므로 강산 또는 강 알카리 조건에서 희토류 정광을 침출 가능한 형태로 변환 시켜주는 분해공정이 선행되며 이후 산 침출에 의해 희토류 성분을 침출하게 된다. 본 고에서는 대표적인 희토류 광물인 모나자이트와 바스트나사이트, 그리고 이 광물의 혼합물 형태로 생산되는 혼합광물에 대한 분해 및 침출공정을 소개하고자 한다.

Elution Profiles of Volatile Compounds and Free Amino Acids during Alcohol Soaking of Garlic(Allum sativum L.) (마늘의 alcohol 침지 중 휘발성 향기성분과 침출유리아미노산 함량)

  • Free amino acids and volatile compounds of fresh garlic and its liqueur were investigated to search elution profile of those components as basic data for development of garlic liqueur. The garlic was soaked in 20% alcohol solution and then sampled every week for 5 weeks. The major free amino acids were L-aspartic acid, L-glutamic acid, L-arginine, L-alanine, L-proline, L-asparagine and L-serine. Neutral amino acids such as L-threonine, L-proline, L-valine and L-leucine, and aromatic amino acids such as tyrosine and phenylalanine were eluted over 80% of those content in fresh garlic after 3 weeks of soaking, but acidic, basic and sulfur containing amino acids were below 80% even after 5 weeks. Sulfide compounds such as diallyl trisulfide, diallyl disulfide, methyl allyl disulfide, 2-vinyl-4H-1,3-dithi in, 3-vinyl-3,4-dihydro-1,2-dithiin, 3,5-diethyl-1,24-trithiolane, isobutyl isothiocyanate and diallyl sulfide were identified as major volatile compounds of fresh garlic by using GC/MS. Among volatile compounds of fresh garlic, allyl alcohol, diallyl disulfide, 3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-trithiolane, diallyl trisulfide and 3,4-dimethoxy furan were eluted to liqueur, but those compounds except 3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-trithiolane were lowered in liqueur during soaking. Furfural, 5-methylfurfural, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, dimethyl pyrazine, furfuryl alcohol, 3-hydroxy-2-bytanone and 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-4H-pyr-an-4-one were generated newly and their content increased in liqueur during soaking.

Leaching of Copper and Other Metal Impurities from a Si-Sludge Using Waste Copper Nitrate Solution (실리콘 슬러지로부터 폐질산구리용액을 이용한 구리 및 금속불순물의 침출)

  • A fundamental study to recycle a Si-Sludge and waste copper nitrate solution acid solution generated by domestic electronic industries was carried out. The waste copper nitrate solution was used as the lixiviant to leach the metals like Cu, Ca, Fe, etc. from the sludge leaving Si in the residues. The effect of reaction temperature, time and pup density on the metals leaching from the sludge was investigated. To enhance the extractability of Fe, the effect of HCl, $HNO_3$ and $H_2O_2$ introduced additionally during the leaching was also examined. Considering the leaching efficiency of Fe along with Cu, the leaching conditions comprising of 200 ~ 225 g/L pulp density and $90^{\circ}C$ temperature for 30 min were optimized. Under this condition, 98.27 ~ 99.17% Cu could be dissolved in the leach liquor with the obtained purity of Si in the residues as 98.69 ~ 98.86 %. The study revealed that the leaching of Cu contained in the Si-Sludge with the waste copper nitrate solution is a plausible approach by which the obtained leach liquor can further be treated suitably to recover Cu as the high pure value-added products.

Impurity variation in high purity silica mineral with different leaching methods (실리카광물의 산침출 정제방법에 따른 불순물 변화 연구)

  • Purification of silica mineral was compared with various leaching methods such as shaking, stirring, ultrasonic with 2.5% HF/HCl solution. Among them, ultrasonic method showed a best leaching effect. From the leaching experiment, Na, K, Fe, Al exist as the major impurity elements. The removal rate of Al, Fe showed little difference with various leaching methods but Ca, Mn, Na were very different. Four kinds of silica mineral (>99% purity) after physical purification treatment were used for ultrasonic leaching experiment. Among them IN-Si had a highest impurity removal rate. Ca, Cr, K, Zn were removed above 80% using ultrasonic leaching method and Fe was also removed above 60%. But Al showed 10~60% removal rate with different samples.
