Characteristics and Trends in the Classifications of Scientific Literacy Definitions (과학적 소양의 정의 분류의 특성 및 경향)

  • This study is to reclassify the classifications or definitions of scientific literacy in scientific literacy researches since 1960s and grasp the classification trends of scientific literacy definitions. Sixteen articles have been selected among the articles that have been introduced in the two articles. Classification criteria are as follows: 1) "be learned," "competence," or "be able to function in society" as meanings of "literate," 2) "terms" or "description" as the ways of representing scientific literacy, 3) "singular structure," "hierarchical structure," or "parallel structure" as the inner structure of scientific literacy definitions. The results of this study are as follows: First, hierarchical structures in scientific literacy have almost always accompanied "terms" representing scientific literacy and also accepted the hierarchy between "be learned" and "competence," but not the definition of scientific literacy as functioning in society. All parallel structures in scientific literacy have accompanied the definition as functioning in society. And singular structure almost always appears in researches based on the views of scientific literacy in relatively recent times. Second, researches who have used "terms" as ways of representing scientific literacy have increased. Based on the results in this study, the meanings of scientific literacy have been emphasized in view of the ability of playing a role in a social context as well as learning and competence these days. To meet this movement in scientific literacy actively, science education community should get out of traditional teaching and learning scientific concepts and give emphasis on application in various context and social role of science learners.

  • Recently, mobile marketing is becoming one of the major topics of interest to the marketing discipline. Emerging from rapid developments in mobile technology, it has created opportunities for new and innovative mobile services. Also, it is enabling to conduct always-on connections that consumers can interact anytime and anywhere. Especially, mobile devices place themselves to the core means of mobile-commerce which to execute a function as a distribution channel in mobile environments. Although the adoption researches about innovative services or technologies had executed in marketing areas over the past decades, most researches just expanded or modified existing theories and explanation models. There has been little study on the comprehensive and systematic review of adoption process. Therefore, it deserves to be considered prior usage experiences of the existing channels(CL) and attractiveness of the new channel(CLalt) based on social exchange theory. In order to address this void, this study unifies components of perceived attributes in the each dimensions (ie. benefit, cost, and risk dimensions) and explores prior usage experiences of the existing channels on adoption intention in electronic financial service channels through developing comprehensive model and employing empirical test for the hierarchy of effects model. Based on these empirical results, this study suggests managerial implications for new channel management in electronic financial service areas by focusing on the prior usage experiences of the existing objects on adoption intention and perceived attributes of ubiquitous-based mobile service channel.

Influencing Factors on the Acceptance of Disabilities among Adults with Acquired Disabilities based on Ecological Theory (생태학적 이론에 근거한 성인 중도장애인의 장애수용 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the acceptance of disabilities among adults with acquired disabilities based on ecological theory, utilizing raw data from the 4th Disability and Life Dynamics Panel in 2021. The results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that individual factors such as 'gender,' 'type of disability,' 'severity of disability,' 'marital status,' 'education,' 'employment status,' 'depression,' 'self-esteem,' and 'overall health in the past six months,' interpersonal factors like 'emotional support and assistance,' and organizational and environmental factors including the 'level of difficulty in using disability-related services' and 'overall satisfaction with disability welfare services' were found to impact the acceptance of disabilities among adults with acquired disabilities. Based on these research findings, it is suggested that efforts in the community to enhance the acceptance of disabilities among adults with acquired disabilities should go beyond individual dimensions, increasing opportunities for social interactions and fostering a disability-friendly environment.

Representation of Drinking in Cultural Contents: Analysis of Television Drama Texts (지상파 TV 콘텐츠에 나타난 음주 : 황금시간대 고시청률 드라마 분석과 수용자 인식조사)

  • This study aimed to 1) analyze television drama text to examines how Korean television dramas represent alcohol drinking; 2) interview the actual drama audience to examine how they perceive drinking and whether or not their perception is influenced by the drama text. The author analyzed 60 drama episodes from 12 prime time shows that reached over 20% rating from 2008 to 2010. The result shows that drinking in dramas are portrayed as a solution to various kinds of personal and business problems, medium of romance, a tool for interpersonal communication that facilitates understanding and positive relationship. Female drinkers are prominent but their drinking is taking place under the patronage of male characters, which lead to the maintenance of patriarchal social relations. Interview findings show that the audience have strong motivation to imitate the glamourous lifestyles of leading characters in dramas. The findings strongly suggest observational learning was taking place, especially in the area where the viewers have no direct experience.

모바일 증권 서비스 이용에 관한 연구

  • As the development of wireless technologies continue, mobile stock trading has become a new channel for companies to reach their customers. This study examines the factors affecting customer acceptance of mobile stock trading services. The research model based on the previous studies was established and the research hypotheses were generated. The sample was divided into users and nonuser groups. The test results show that relative advantage and social influence are positively related to intention to accept mobile services as well as in intention to reuse, security risk is negatively related to intention to reuse, frequency of trading is positively related to intention to reuse, cost burden is negatively related to the probability of using mobile stock trading services, and social influence is positively related to the probability of using mobile services. The results also support that information quality and response time are positively related to relative advantage, and interface quality is negatively related to complexity. It is considered that the study results may help managers to increase customer use of mobile stock trading services.

  • This study is about the special quality which has craft-kitsch as a typical objects in modern mass consumption society. Today, kitsch is one of the most general object for understanding of our lifestyle. Accordingly, there is close correlation between craft objects and kitsch. But, discussions on the relation between craft and kitsch have not dealt quite satisfied up to the present. This paper draws up as a basic study on craft-kitsch. Determinants of Intention to Use toward N Screen Service for Potential User (N스크린 서비스 잠재적 수용자의 수용의도 영향요인 연구)

  • Using technology acceptance model, this study investigates the factors affecting N-screen service adoption. We collected 435 available answers from potential users through systematic online survey. Results show that self-efficacy and perceived interactivity factors had positive effects on perceived ease of use. In addition, service variety, perceived interactivity, perceived ease of use factors had positive effects on perceived usefulness. Yet social effect factor had negative effect on perceived usefulness. On the other hand, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness had positive effect on the intention of use. In conclusion, to improve the intention to use N-screen service, it is necessary to make users convinced that N-screen service can give customized contents and interactive information regardless of time and place.

Circularity of the Program Development Activities: Empirical Investigation in the Social Service Agencies in Korea (사회복지기관에서 프로그램 개발의 순환적인 활동에 대한 실증적 연구: 수용, 개발, 전파를 중심으로)

  • Despite the rapidly increased concern on the circularity of the program development activities in the social service agencies, there are only a few studies about the phenomena. This study is to describe the characteristics of program development in the process of adopting, developing, and disseminating the social programs and to figure out the factors influencing differences in the 3 activities in social service agencies. The researchers constructed an explanative model including each 12-13 independent variables with 3 consecutive dependent variables on the basis of reviewing the related literatures. A multiple regression analysis was applied to predict the features of the program development using 195 questionaries responded from social workers in community service centers. As the result of the descriptive analysis, the two noticeable features are found; (1) the agencies have very actively adopted outside programs, developed appropriate programs for the agency, and disseminated the programs into other agencies in the community. (2) there are some positive aspects of the factors in related to the process of the program development. The results of the regression analysis show that the three dependent variables of the adoption, development, and dissemination are very closely interconnected with each others, showing the evidence of the circularity in the agencies. In addition, the 5 independent variables at the value of p .01 are statistically related with the circularity of the three dependent activities. The implication of major findings were discussed in academic and practical perspectives in Korea, including future research works in the area.
