A Study on Fuzzy Temperature Control for the Barrels of Injection Molding Machine using PC based PLC (PC 기반 PLC를 이용한 사출성형기 배럴의 퍼지 온도 제어에 관한 연구)

  • Injection molding has been widely used for the mass production of a plastic product. With the development of the relative technique, various injection molding techniques have been developed and we could get more precise plastic product. The temperature of a melting resin is an important factor in the injection molding and this temperature has direct influence on the quality of a plastic product. In the present injection molding machine, the deriation of a temperature controlled by PID control method is within 2$^{\circ}C$ in the injection molding machine but PID control method takes too much time to stabilize after preheating and its overshoot is so big. We applied fuzzy control to alleriate the problem. In this research, we experimented the fuzzy temperature control with the usage of PC based PLC.

A Study on Compressor Seal for Automotive Air-conditioner using Polymer Resin (고분자 수지를 이용한 자동차 에어컨용 압축기의 씰에 관한 연구)

  • The existing compressor steel seal used in automotive air-conditioner has the problem of oil leakage and the deterioration in shielding performance, due to the abrasion and the corrosion of the material. A new type of polymer resin seal is studied in the research. The polymer resin seal has the characteristics of high anti-abrasiveness and anti-corrosiveness, which can overcome the deflects of the steel seal. In addition, the seal needs lower manufacturing cost and is appropriate to mass production, because it is made by the injection molding method requiring no mechanical processing. The profile generation program for seal mold has been developed using the gradient method, and the molding characteristics of the seal have analyzed through the flow analysis and the warpage analysis. The program has been verified by comparing the analysis results with the measured data of the test product. The research might be said to provide the basic method to produce the polymer resin seals with various types and dimensions.

  • Micro injection molding is a branch of micro system technology and has been under development for the mass manufacture of micro parts. Enhanced technological products like micro optical devices are entering the market. This paper presents fundamental research on the injection molding technique in micro fabrication. In order to successful manufacturing of micro plastic parts, it is necessary to research for development of micro-injection machine, machining of micro mold, decision of optimum injection conditions and the research for polymer material. Therefore in this study, in order to machining of micro mold, a mold core with microscopic V-shaped groove was tooled by ultra-precise tooling machine. The transcription experiments with a polymer, PMMA resin on the surface of core with Ni plating were carried out and surface profile of injected parts was measured with AFM.

Large Thrust Linear Motor for Low-duty-cycle Operation (고추력 저가동률 리니어모터에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a linear motor, which generates large thrust with a low operating rate. In industrial fields there is a need for actuators that work with a low duty cycle but generate large thrusts. An example of such a case is provided by the actuators for ejector mechanisms in electric injection molding machines. The ordinary LSM (linear synchronous motor) is unsuitable for this large-thrust and low-operating-rate usage, because of its large size and high cost. This paper contains experimental results on linear motors that can generate large thrusts for a short time, and which can be cheaply produced. The described linear motor could be contained space of $250mm \times250mm\times 250mm$ and generate a maximum thrust of about 20000 N at a current of 250 A.

  • As using of insulating material of plastic to industrial electric field, thermoset has been gradually substituted for thermoplastic. But changing the material with crystalline has some problem, which is strength or warpage, Especially getting a strength to endure inner pressure is necessary when arc is occurred. So we use the material that is composed of glass fiber to compensate strength. By the way as the reinforced glass-fiber material is used in injection molding, unstableness of dimension is appeared frequently and it is difficult to know warpage pattern. So this paper will be contributed to know warpage pattern of mold product that is upper frame of magnetic contactor caused by glass-fiber orientation with fixed gate-system, when glass-fiber reinforced material with classification of poly-amide is used in injection molding.

  • Vehicle industry is developing research for producing high quality injection molded product. The main objective of this study is providing information about hydraulic system for researchers who are involved in the other fields, not hydraulic field. Another objective is developing hydraulic circuit simulation model which analyzes the cause of several destabilizing elements related to quality of injection molded products. Injection molded product consists of a lot of hydraulic parts, and there are many nonlinear facts for dynamic behavior. So, we used 'SimulationX' which is specialized in hydraulic system for developing simulation model.

  • High-speed and high-torque performance is required in the ultra-high speed electric injection molding machine field. To implement this performance, the big-size inverter is needed and the corresponding converter should be used. In this case, the whole cost for configuring the system will be increased. In this paper, we introduce a method which is able to reduce the energy and the cost for configuring the system using the energy regeneration. The energy regeneration method is based on reusing the regeneration power generated at the electric motor during decelerating the injection motion. In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the method by using the ultra-high speed injection motion.

  • Hydraulic systems of injection molding machine are modelled and simulated with AMESim which is a commercial program. Detail models of hydraulic components are simulated and simulation results are evaluated with maker's test results in catalog. Sub system models which is divided according to functional operation are made and its analysis results shows how design parameters work on operational characteristics like cylinder speed, cylinder displacement, pressure, flow rates at each node and so on. Total circuit model is also made and analyzed. The prediction made by simulation will be used design of hydraulic systems of injection molding machine.

  • For optimal injection molding, various molding conditions should be combined well. Therefore, engineers should be thoroughly familiar with mold design, fabrication, and injection molding. The choice of resin among the various molding conditions is closely related to the productivity of the molded part and the deformation after molding, so the engineer must select the appropriate resin. Engineers work on the basis of data provided by resin manufacturers during molding. However, in actual molding work, it is necessary to apply values slightly different from those provided to obtain molded articles of desired performance. In this study, various deformations of molded products were compared with respect to crystalline resin and amorphous resin when molded according to the data provided by the resin maker and molded at the changed values at the work site.
